This study focuses on the identity establishment of library and information science. It suggests, as a way of establishing the identity, the necessity of promoting of business environment in library and information science. For this purpose, the study examines Korean cases that have damaged the identity, and analyzes why such damage has been done and how it affects the fostering of business environment in library and information. It also diagnoses the possibility of identity establishment such as, for example, professionalism of the librarian and creation of jobs through the fostering of business environment in library and information science.

The purpose of this study is to identify the topics of research related to the concepts of literacy in the field of Library and Information Science which is related to user education in libraries. Data were collected from the WoS and KCI databases, and complementary keyword analysis and topic modeling analysis techniques were used to identify topics of literature-related research articles in the field of Library and Information Science. Findings presented that there was a difference in keywords and topics between the two databases. Literacy-related topics identified from the KCI database were classified into three groups through topic modeling. Also, it was analyzed that there is a difference between the overall literacy-related research trend, the timing of the surge in research volume, and key frequent keywords in the Library and Information Science field confirmed in the study. In particular, in the study of literacy in all fields, a number of words such as 'literacy', 'education', 'media', and 'digital' were derived. However, in literature research in the field of Library and Information Science, keywords such as 'information utilization ability' and 'school library' appeared. Based on this, it was concluded that research on the ability to develop an evaluative eye for information is needed in line with today's information environment, where information is rapidly increasing in Korea in the future.

For the past 50 years, Korean library researchers have zealously absorbed foreign thoughts and techniques without filtering them discreetly. Both research themes and methods have been freely borrowed and put into practice. This practice has been taken for granted for LIS researchers in Korea. But, lack of understanding of our own library field, has produced problems for researchers. This is because libraries of each country have its own developmental stage and cultural heritage. Therefore, I would say that researchers should be cautious in the application of foreign theories. In Korea, this kinds of filtering process has been neglected in the past. LIS research must have close relations with practical library work. LIS theories and practices in Korea should be hopefully based on the needs of the Korean society. In short, Korea should have a LIS, which serve the needs and ideals of the library and society of Korea.

The purpose of this article is to figure out the structural problems which have threaten both scholarship and profession of Library and Information Science in South Korea. In details, this study discusses such major weakness in Korean LIS as vague academic identity, poor research activities, and unreasonable educational systems. The emphasis for discussion is on identifying the unique and indigenous variables which have had deep influences on both development process and current crisis of Korean LIS. Finally suggested are the strategies and methods for promoting the good health of Korean Library and Information Science as an independent academic discipline as well as a prospective profession.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the usage patterns of document delivery services of domestic users based on usage transaction data about photocopying services of KISTI-DDS that the most important document delivery organization in Korea.. For the purpose of this study, it was investigated the number of processed document, type of favorite documents, ordering coverage for photocopying, delivery methods of photocopying documents for users in DDS(document delivery service) through transaction data of DDS during the past 4 years from 2000 to 2003.

The study aims to understand university constituents' perceptions and experiences of research data management and sharing then explore the critical factors for establishing effective research data management plans. The literature review enabled summarization of the significant issues regarding research data management and sharing. In addition, the follow-up survey revealed the university constituents' perceptions and experiences about research data management and sharing. This study has significance because it laid the foundation for long-term research data management policies and services development.

교육개혁 등 교육환경의 변화에 따라 문헌정보학의 학문적 특성과 위상의 재정립이 중요해 지고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 문헌정보학의 발전과정을 살펴보고, 대학의 학제상의 문헌정보학의 학문적 위치를 조사 분석하고, 각 대학 문헌정보학의 교과를 중심으로 학문적 특성을 파악한 뒤, 교수진의 학문적 배경을 살펴보고 이들을 바탕으로 문헌정보학의 학문적 특성을 이해하고 나아갈 바를 도색하고 있다.

정보검색 시스템의 성능을 향상시키기 위해서 다양한 용어가중치 공식이 제안 되어왔다. 용어가중치는 질의와 문헌을 비교하는 검색의 경우뿐만 아니라 문헌과 문헌을 비교하는 자동분류에서도 성능에 영향을 미칠 수가 있다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 용어가중치 공식에 대해서 살펴보고, 문헌 자동분류 성능에 미치는 영향을 문헌 클러스터링 실험과 범주화 실험을 통해 확인해 보았다.

본 고에서는 도서관의 문헌제공 서비스 차원에서 연구되고 있는 프로젝트와 전자 문헌전달 시스템의 프로토타입을 조사, 분석하였다. 전자 문헌전달 시스템이란 출판사나 도서관에서 기존의 인쇄물 출판 및 배포를 낭가하는 전자적인 방법, 즉 비디오텍스, 전자우편, 온라인 네트워크 및 CD-ROM 등을 통해 이용자에게 필요한 정보를 전달하는 시스템을 뜻한다. 현재 활용가능한 전자 문헌전달 시스템을 중심으로 그 이용 및 접속방법, 제공가능한 문헌의 형태, 서비스 제공에 필요한 기술적 장비와 네트워크에 관련된 요구사항 그리고 주제분야 및 비용 등에 관한 사항들을 중점적으로 조사하였다.

This study is aimed at the status analysis and formulation of directions for the library and information science as part of major study area for the education and training of archivist. For this purpose, this study analyzed curricular of library and information science department of 35 four year universities all over Korea and the changes in the curricular of records management area and reviewed and analyzed the library and information science professors's articles of records management area which were published in 7 journals for the purpose of their publication trend. It was found out that the study trend of the record management area, as part of library and information science, was influenced by the new study fields, the increase in subject opening, founding of academic societies and publication of new journal, enactment and amendment of disciplinary character of studies, etc. Based on this, the necessity for opening of new records management courses, interdisciplinary research, investigation of records management education and researches of other study fields were proposed.
