A Flexible Multi-Threshold Based Control of Server Power Mode for Handling Rapidly Changing Loads in an Energy Aware Server Cluster (에너지 절감형 서버 클러스터에서 급변하는 부하 처리를 위한 유연한 다중 임계치 기반의 서버 전원 모드 제어)

  • Energy aware server cluster aims to reduce power consumption at maximum while keeping QoS(quality of service) as much as energy non-aware server cluster. In the existing methods of energy aware server cluster, they calculate the minimum number of active servers needed to handle current user requests and control server power mode in a fixed time interval to make only the needed servers ON. When loads change rapidly, QoS of the existing methods become degraded because they cannot increase the number of active servers so quickly. To solve this QoS problem, we classify load change situations into five types of rapid growth, growth, normal, decline, and rapid decline, and apply five different thresholds respectively in calculating the number of active servers. Also, we use a flexible scheme to adjust the above classification criterion for multi threshold, considering not only load change but also the remaining capacity of servers to handle user requests. We performed experiments with a cluster of 15 servers. A special benchmarking tool called SPECweb was used to generate load patterns with rapid change. Experimental results showed that QoS of the proposed method is improved up to the level of energy non-aware server cluster and power consumption is reduced up to about 50 percent, depending on the load pattern.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the current problems with the recovery methods and support systems for harm caused by digital sexual assault, based on cases in the U.S., U.K., and Australia. The significance of this study is the implications on problem solving related to digital sexual assault based on the legislation and systems of advanced foreign nations. The analytical method behind this study is the investigation of research literature. The reference materials are from judicial precedents, comparative analysis on media data, experts' advisory conferences, study forums, foreign theses, and documents on law and policy. As shown by the results of this study, we need to examine digital sexual exploitation and seek countermeasures from the victim's perspective after comparing foreign cases to determine the best protections and support systems. As digital sexual content can spread indefinitely, we certainly recognize the inherent difference between digital sexual crimes and offline sexual crimes. Thus, each case needs to be professionally categorized and an appropriate punishment must be suggested that satisfies the victims' needs. Ultimately, this study is meaningful for suggesting preventive measures against digital sexual crimes.

Behavior and pillar stability of enlarged existing parallel tunnels (기존 병설터널의 확폭에 따른 터널 거동 및 필라 안정성 분석)

  • Traffic congestion in existing tunnels has increased due to increased traffic volume and enlarged vehicles. Enlarging existing tunnels has advantages over constructing new tunnels by reducing land purchasing costs as well as minimizing natural environment destruction. In fact, many overseas projects for enlarging existing tunnels have been reported. Thus, it appears that the demand on enlarging existing tunnels continues to rise in Korea in near future. Nonetheless, the studies related to the enlarged tunnels have been relatively rare since there have been few tunnel enlargement projects in Korea. In the present study, the tunnel behavior and the stability of rock pillar when enlarging existing parallel tunnels were investigated by performing FE analysis and using existing theory and empirical relationships. Four different enlarging cases, depending on the enlargement types and directions, were examined in the study. According to the results, for the tunnels with the same pillar width after enlarged, the uni-laterally enlarged tunnel indicated 5 to 20% higher crown settlement compared to the bi-laterally enlarged tunnel, and for the tunnel with the narrowest pillar, the highest shotcrete stress was observed. Also, the strength/stress ratio for rock pillar was more than 1.0 for all four enlargement cases, and the Matsuda's method was found to give higher strength/stress ratio by about 50% compared to the Peck's method.

  • Haptic-aided design (HAD) involves the use of a haptic simulator in place of physical prototypes in the design and development of products with which human beings interact physically. The development time and cost can be significantly reduced by adopting this HAD scheme. Although both physical and emotional factors are equally important, only the emotional factors were taken into consideration in the previous HAD process. Consequently, the design of the products was sometimes unsatisfactory from the viewpoint of ergonomics, even though users were emotionally satisfied with the products. To overcome this problem, in this study, we propose a new human-oriented design methodology that is enhanced by taking the physical factors into consideration. The HAD scheme was verified by using a haptic chair simulator to design a tilt mechanism of an office chair for which the stiffness of the backrest can be adjusted; then, the design was simulated using MADYMO. The results show that the proposed method can reflect both the physical and emotional factors to modify the design in real-time.

  • 아크용접은 산업전반에 걸쳐 그 생산기반에 없어서는 안될 필수기술로써 자동차 및 조선, 항공우주산업에 이르기까지 경제기반에 미치는 파급효과가 매우 크다. 그러나 이 아크용접을 하게 되면 각종 가스와 미세입자로 이루어진 흄이 발생하게 되는데 이들은 작업자들의 건강에 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 보고되어 있다. 용접흄에는 용접재료 및 용접공정에 따라 다양한 유해원소가 포함되어 있고 그 종류에 따라 인체에 미치는 잠재적 독성효과도 매우 광범위하다. 최근 국내에서는 용접사들 중에 용접흄에 포함된 중금속 중 Mn중독에 의한 파킨스씨병 환자들과 Cr중독에 의하여 콧속 연골에 구멍이 뚫리는 비중격천공(鼻中隔穿孔) 환자들이 직업병으로 판정 받아 산재요양이 승인된 사례가 있다. 이러한 계기로 인하여 용접사들의 용접기피 현상이 심화되고 작업환경에 대한 법적규제는 선진 외국뿐만 아니라 국내에서도 한층 엄격하게 강화되고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 이제는 작업자와 사용자 모두 용접흄에 대한 인식의 전환이 요구되는 때이며 여러 분야에서 이러한 용접흄에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되어야 한다. 해외에서는 이미 용접흄에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되어 왔으나 국내의 경우는 매우 미비한 상태이며 용접산업의 미래 영향력이나 필요성을 고려할 때 국내에서도 적극적인 관심을 가져야 할 부분으로 판단된다. 본 연구에서는 아크용접공정에서 발생하는 흄의 특정 중금속 성분이 인체에 치명적인 악영향을 미치는 것에 착안하여 여러 종류의 용접재료에서 발생되는 용접흄의 중금속 분포를 조사하여 비교하였다. 이것은 향후 용접재료별 및 용접공정별 발생되는 흄의 유해원소를 저감시킬 수 있고 또한 각종 유해원소의 노출기준 및 평가기준을 마련할 수 있는 기초data로써 도움이 되리라 사료된다.동, 공정중재고가 줄어드는 결과를 보였고, 가동률 수준이 높을수록 ORR 방법간의 차이가 크게 나타났다. 그리고 부하평준화 기능은 Order Release 정책의 유효성에 별 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로, Order Release 방법은 우선순위규칙간의 성능차이를 줄이거나, 대체할 수 통제 기법이라기보다는 우선순위규칙을 보완하여 공정중재고와 작업현장에서의 리드타임, 리드타임의 편차를 줄여주는 역할을 한다고 볼 수 있다. 그리고, 계획시스템이 존재하여 계획오더가 일정기간간격으로 이송되는 환경에서 특히 유용하다는 결론을 얻었다. 알 수 있었다. 것인데, 제조업에서의 심각한 고비용, 저효율 문제 를 해결하기 위해 필수적으로 도입해야만 하는 실정이다. 또한 소비자의 다양한 요구로 인 하여 제품의 종류와 사양면에서 심한 변동을 보이는 시장 수요에, 신속한 정보처리로 대응 하는데도 크게 기여하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는, 자동차 Job Shop의 동기화 생산방식을 지원하는 동기화 생산시스템의 구축 모델을 제시하고자 한다.과로 여겨지며, 또한 혈청중의 ALT, ALP 및 LDH활성을 유의성있게 감소시키므로서 감잎 phenolic compounds가 에탄올에 의한 간세포 손상에 대한 해독 및 보호작용이 있는 것으로 사료된다.반적으로 홍삼 제조시 내공의 발생은 제조공정에서 나타나는 경우가 많으며, 내백의 경우는 홍삼으로 가공되면서 발생하는 경우가 있고, 인삼이 성장될 때 부분적인 영양상태의 불충분이나 기후 등에 따른 영향을 받을 수 있기 때문에 앞으로 이에 대한 많은 연구가 이루어져야할 것으로 판단된다.태에도 불구하고 [-wh]의미의 겹의문사는 병렬적 관계의 합성어가 아니라 내부구조를 지니지 않은 단순한 단어(min

  • Recently, integration of parts is accelerating according to the growth of the smart mobile industry. The integration of these parts causes problems of interference phenomena between the parts, and the importance of electromagnetic wave shielding technology to solve this problem is highlighted. Electromagnetic wave shielding technology is implemented so as to reflect or absorb electromagnetic waves, and generally conductive materials are utilized for electromagnetic wave shielding. Transparent shielding technology is required according to recent industrial changes. In this research, we propose transparent the shielding film using imprint technology with conductive composite binder. Utilizing UV polymerized acrylic binder to produce a conductive composite binder. Spherical, plate and stacked silver particles were used for conductivity. The changes of the curing characteristics, conductivity and adhesion were observed according to the structural characteristics of the silver particles. The use of spherical particles was the most efficient in the curing process, and an additional curing system was required to complement the UV-shadowing structure. In the conductivity evaluation, the stacked structure showed excellent characteristics. The adhesion of spherical system was the best. It is evaluated as a result of irregularities on the surface. Ultimately, the patterned film using this showed excellent transparency characteristics.

  • Underwater wireless network can be useful in various fields such as underwater environment observation, catastrophe prevention, ocean resources exploration, ocean organism research, and vessel sinking exploration. We need to develop an efficient design for Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol to improve multiple data communication in underwater environment. Aloha protocol is one of the basic and simple protocols, but it has disadvantage such as collision occurs oftenly in communication. If there is collision occured in RF communication, problem can be solved by re-sending the data, but using low frequency in underwater, the re-transmission has difficulties due to slow bit-rate. So, Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) based MAC protocol is going to be used to avoid collisions, but if there is no data to send in existing TDMA, time slot should not be used. Therefore, this paper proposes dynamic TDMA protocol mechanism with reducing the time slots by sending short "I Have No Data" (IHND) message, if there is no data to transmit. Also, this paper presents mathematic analysis model in relation to data throughput, channel efficiency and verifies performance superiority by comparing the existing TDMA protocols.

Exploring the Effects of Task Language and Complexity in College Students' Web Searching (질의 언어 및 복잡성이 대학생의 웹 정보탐색에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The Web now provides instant access to an unprecedented amount of information that was unthinkable even 20-30 years ago. However, the full potential of the contents available through the Internet can only be realized when one can speak and understand foreign languages, especially English which accounts for more than half of web contents. In this study, we try to investigate the effect of search task languages and task complexity on searching performance. A total of thirty students enrolled at a top private university in Korea were recruited as study subjects. We set up a quasi-experimental design in which thirty subjects are randomly assigned to a set of eight different search tasks containing an equal number of simple and complex tasks and an equal number of tasks in Korean and in English. The results show that there is a significant difference between simple and complex tasks in terms of SERP time, number of queries used, correctness of results and total search time. However, task language does not seem to have affected search performance for this study group. In addition, students with high English proficiency test scores show comparable search performance in English tasks compared with lower test scores. But we note differences in behavioral patterns (different search engines used and search tactics) among the study participants.

  • Location tracking system through GPS and Wi-Fi is available at no additional cost in an environment of IEEE 802.11-based wireless network. It is useful for many applications in outdoor environment. However, a previous systems used for general device to tag. It is unsuitable for power aware location tracking system because general devices is more expensive and non-optimized for tracking. The hand-off method of IEEE 802.11 standard is not enough considering power consumption. This thesis analyzes the previous location tracking systems and proposes power aware system. First, we designed and implemented tag to optimize location tracking. Next, we propose low-power hand-off method and low-power behavior model in implemented tag. The proposed hand-off method resolve power problem by using the location information and behavior model minimize power consumption of tag through power-saving mode and the concept of duty cycle. To evaluating proposed methods and system performance, we perform simulations and experiments in real environment. And then, we calculate tag's power consumption based on the actual measured current consumption of each operation. In a simulation result, the proposed behavior model and hand-off method reduced about 98%, 59% than the standard's hand-off and default behavior model.

Adaptive Digital Predistorter Using the NLMS Algorithm for the Nonlinear Compensation of the OFDM Communication System (OFDM통신시스템의 비선형 왜곡 보상을 위한 NLMS 알고리즘 방식의 디지털 적응 전치 왜곡기)

  • In this paper, we propose a pre-distortion method using the NLMS(Normalized Least Mean Square) algorithm to cope with hish PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio) problem in OFDM communication system. This proposed scheme estimates the distortion characteristics of HPA, and changes the characteristic against the distortion. Therefore, it can be shown that the adaptive characteristic of the NLMS pre-distorter is good to track the various nonlinear characteristic of HPA, even though HPA characteristic is changed by temperature variation or aging. From the performance analysis, SNR efficiency of NLMS pre-distorter is about $0.5\;\cal{dB}$ less than that of common numerical non-adaptive pre-distorter, when IBO(Input Back Off) is $0\;\cal{dB}$. However, the NLMS pre-distorter is better than the common numerical pre-distorter, because these two pre-distorters have similar performance in higher than $3\;\cal{dB}$ IBO, and the NLMS pre-distorter maintains the constant performance even though characteristic of HPA is changed.
