The purpose of this study is to contribute to enhancing spiritual combat power as the core of intangible combat power in Korean armed forces through analyses and suggestions on Admiral Yi Sun-sin's leadership for four major sweeping victories based upon jointness which effectively integrates tangible and intangible combat power in armed forces to maximize the synergy of fighting power. As our armed forces has improved their military structure in the dimension of hardwares so as to enhance their efficiency, according to the results of analyzing the process to promote the jointness between our armed forces and our allied powers in the dimension of softwares supporting such hardware dimensions, it was necessary to innovate the system for reinforcing future-oriented spiritual combat power as well as all the tasks related to leadership as the core of intangible combat power jointly and harmoniously. In order to derive tasks about the leadership of Korean armed forces in the dimension of softwares which should be combined with military structural reform for strengthening spiritual combat power for national defense, this study selected research questions linked with jointness. That is, (1) what is the core of military leadership in Western advanced countries in the age of jointness? (2) What are the contemporary illuminations or implications of Korean leaderships through Admiral Yi Sun-sin's war history? Then, this study analyzed literature reviews, this author's field interviews in the time of war participation, and leadership war history focusing on Admiral Yi Sun-sin's leadership for four major sweeping victories. According to the results of these analyses, this study extracted (1) the strategic leadership to predict and prepare the future, (2) the leadership of integration to create synergy effects, and (3) the leadership of knowledge to be practiced focusing on combats. In addition, in order to reinforce spiritual combat power based upon jointness, (1) it is necessary to precede in-depth and substantial leadership diagnosis for enhancing jointness. (2) It is necessary to embody national defense reform as well as integration for jointness improvement after scientifically comparing and analyzing the differentiation and integration between the Ministry of National Defense, army-navy-air force leadership centers, and PKO centers. (3) It is necessary to promote the merger and abolition between institutions related to intangibale combat power under the Ministry of National Defense.

Mental power, which is the intangible power of soldiers in our security situation, is very important recently. As for the history of war in East and West Korea, intangible combat power is regarded as a key factor that determines the rise and fall of the nation and the victory and defeat of the war. Recently, we are trying to improve the mental education in the military, but we still regard it as formal education, boring education, and time - consuming education. And continues to present the problem. The purpose of this study is to examine the problems of current mental education and to find out the direction of development of cognitive centered mental education. I would like to suggest a direction for fostering a strong group that is suitable for the diversification era.

건축물의 대형화, 정보화, 자동화 등으로 전력수요가 급증하면서 전력설비가 대용량화되고 복잡해져서 한 순간이라도 정전이 발생하면 유, 무형의 경제적 손실이 따르게 된다. 이와 같은 배경에서 과거보다도 전력설비의 고안정도, 고신뢰성이 한층 요구되고 있으며 특히 수, 변전설비에 대한 안전관리의 중요성이 날로 부각되고 있는 실정이다.

군에서는 무기체계인 유형전력 뿐만 아니라 눈에 보이지 않는 무형전력 또한 중요하다. 그중에서도 정신전력도 전투력의 중요 요인으로 이에 대한 효과를 높이기 위해 다양한 연구가 이루어지고 있지만, 계급사회인 군의 특징을 고려한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 정신전력 교관의 계급과 교육 참여자들의 수준이 교육효과에 미치는 영향이 있는지를 통해 정신전력 효과를 제고하는 방안을 모색하게 되었다. 교관의 계급이 높을수록 효과도 높을 것이라는 관념적 생각이 잘못되었음을 입증하였으며, 교육효과에 영향을 미치는 요인은 무엇보다 교육생들과 직접 접촉하는 교관의 준비상태인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 이번 연구에서는 교육에 대한 참여의지와 교육의 중요성 인식이 교육기간 동안 증가할수록 교육의 효과도 증가한다는 결론을 얻었다.

한 나라의 국방목표를 달성하기 위해서는 전략이 필요하고 이를 위하여 유형.무형의 군사력을 동원하게 된다. 이 중에서 유형요소는 무기체계에 의하여 지배되며 무형요소인 전략계획은 무기체계를 전제로 하지 않고는 불가능하다. 이 무기체계는 바로 과학기술의 집합체이다. 미래 군사발전은 국방과학기술이 나아갈 바를 제시하는 향도이며 기술은 이러한 군사발전을 가능케 하는 구현 도구이다. 그러므로 국방목표, 즉 군사발전을 조기에 달성시키기 위하여 바로 첨단기술의 조기전력화가 요망되는 것이다.

The purpose of this article is to analyse the military thought of Ferdinand Foch and to present its contemporary meanings. 1.Foch's life: Since 1871 to end of World War I, he acted as a military philosopher, battle field commander, and Supreme Commender of the Unified Forces so as to be judged as Clausewitz of the 20th century. 2. Historical Background of Foch's Activity Period : The series of the domestic revolutions after Napoleon's downfall were extended to Europe for independence, unification and overseas colonial wars. Thus Foch's growing and acting period was in totally imminent danger at all fields. 3. Foch's Military Thought : Through his three books, he argued cleary the absolute importance of the immaterial power including the technical esteem and the offensive fighting will for the victory. 4. The Contemporary Application of Foch's Thought : Though the operation plan based on Foch's strategic thought was defeated at the early stage of the World War I, its offensive-oriented immaterial spirit power should be remembered. 5. Conclusion : Foch's thought which develops the penetration through the war history and emphasizes the importance of the immaterial power should be highly appraised. Thus it should be also reinterpreted and redeveloped into a modern contemporary meaning.

The past combats depended often on a number of firepower and manpower. However, integrated decision support viewpoint from communications, surveillance, reconnaissance, intelligence and so forth in combats witnessed in the Gulf, the Middle East, and Afghanistan have changed the trends of combat. That is, the force multipliers which many support systems enhance the combat potential of the fighting forces significantly become big issues to win or not in that combat. According to changing recent combat trend, Lanchester's combat model is being challenged to develop keeping pace with the new trend. We approach this paper as mathematical modeling about how the effect of terrain affects in the combat. Terrain information is invisible, but it is necessary to consider for analysis of warfare. Additionally, tangible or intangible elements affecting to attrition coefficients are continuely reflected to the combat model from decision-makers, then it will be a model closer to the reality and very suggestive to the actual world.

This study examined 316 soldiers in the South Korean Army and the mediation effects of social support on bullying and frustration. Bullying, social support, and frustration showed average scores of 2.23, 3.60, and 2.75 points, respectively. There was a positive correlation between bullying, social support, and frustration. All of the subordinate variables of bullying showed significant impacts on frustration (p<.05), with psychological harassment showing the greatest impact (${\beta}=.340$), followed by bullying in interpersonal relationships (${\beta}=.149$) and bullying at work (${\beta}=.130$). In all the interaction items of the subordinate variable bullying ${\times}$ social support, bullying had a significant impact on frustration at p<.01, while the highest impact was shown in the interaction item of bullying ${\times}$ member support (${\beta}=.456$). The results imply that intangible combat power and solidarity among soldiers can be guaranteed only when superiors and peers provide full support for soldiers who are victims of bullying.

The ROK army has equipped ATCIS (Army Tactical Control Information System) for the Corps echelon to visualize the battlefield and reduce the reaction time. Due to the information&surveillance equipment, uncertainty and variance of the battlefield have been decreased. However decision making for the ground operations has not changed as it depends on knowledge of the commander and staffs. The War game process to select and assess the best CoA (Course of Action) also depends on the pros and cons due to the limitation of time and capability. For the balanced development between intangible and tangible military strength, a new decision making process which is quantitative and useful for the military is needed. In this study, we suggest a Fuzzy-AHP based decision making model to improve troop leading procedure which is useful to evaluate and reflect intangible characteristics of the battlefield.
