The Spermatogenesis of Coreoleuciscus splendidus, Cyprinidae, Teleostei (경골어류 잉어과 쉬리(Coreoleuciscus splendidus)의 정자형성과정)

  • The ultrastructure of spermatogenesis and sperm in Coreoleuciscus splendidus, belonging to Gobioninae, Cyprinidae was investigated by light and electron microscopes. The testis was located between intestine and air bladder. The size of testis was major axis 1.8 cm, minor axis 3 mm. The testis of C. splendidus contained numerous testicular cysts, and spermatogenesis was non-synchronized in these testicular cysts. In May, the upper area of testis contained with other germ cells and sperm but the lower area of testis contained with matured sperm only. In case of spermatogonia, the nucleus was comparatively large spherical, and mitochondria showed a marked development. The size of primary spermatocyte was smaller than that of spermatogonia, and that of secondary spermatocyte was smaller than that of primary spermatocyte. The chromatin of spermatocyte was highly condensed according to their development. The nucleus with electron-dense was round shape. In spermiogenesis, flagella started to be formed and chromatin was more condensed. The mitochondria were rearranged in a middle piece. The head of matured sperm was a spherical shape and had not acrosome. The microtubules of flagella were arranged 9+2 structure. Also, the tail of sperm had not lateral fins and 7 outer coarse fibers.

  • 1. 일시수확형 고추의 기계수확 요인을 구명하기 위하여 4종류의 탈과장치를 제작하여 공시고추로 탈과시험을 실시한 결과 탈과장치는 방사대칭식(브러쉬형), 고추이송(공급)속도는 0.1m/s, 탈과장치 간격은 3cm, 탈과장치 회전수는 180rpm에서 정상탈과율 77.3%, 손상률 7.6% 미탈과율 3.0%로 가장 양호한 성적이 나타났다. 2. 방사대칭식(브러쉬형) 탈과장치를 이용하여 무지용 상향착과형 고추, 지주용 하향착과형 고추, 지주용 상향착과형 고추를 공시하여 고추별 탈과시험을 실시한 결과, 고추이송(공급)속도 0.1m/s, 원통사이간격 3cm, 탈과장치 회전수 180rpm에서 가장 양호한 성적이 나왔으며, 지주용 하향착과형 고추가 정상탈과률 82.7%, 손상률 7.4%, 미탈과율 2.7%로 무지주용 상향착과형 고추(52.3%, 14.3%, 12.5%)와 지주용 상향착과형 고추(77.3%, 7.6%. 3.0%)에 비해 기계수확에 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 3. 이상의 고추 기계수확 요인시험의 결과, 탈과장치는 방사대칭식(브러쉬형) 고추종류로는 하향착과형 고추가 기계수확에 바람직한 것으로 나타났으며, 수확 후 회수가 가능한 줄기부착고추를 포함한다면 고추기계수확률은 80% 이상, 꼭지가 떨어진 것이 대부분인 손상고추도 수확 후 즉시 기계건조하여 가공용으로 사용한다고 가정한다면 기계 수확률은 90% 이상 가능하지만, 이것의 수용 여부는 좀 더 폭넓은 의견수렴 및 조사가 필요하다고 사료된다. 4. 고추수확 기계화를 위해서는 실내요인 시험 결과를 토대로 포장에서 수확메커니즘 구명과 더불어 고추 과실이 크고 무지주용 하향착과형 일시수확형 고추 품종의 개발이 병행되어야 한다고 판단된다. 5) 마늘 선별작업 -마늘선별기는 작업성능이 높고 5등급으로 균일 선별되었으며 손상도 없었으나, 기계가 크고 무거워 이동이 곤란하고 가격이 비싸므로 선별등급을 3∼4단계로 줄이고 소형 농가보급형으로 개량제작이 요구됨. 나. 마늘재배 일관기계화에 의한 노동투하시간과 비용 -종자준비부터 통마늘선별까지의 일관기계화로 투입된 주요작업의 노력은 75∼76%가 절감되고, 재배규모 3ha기준시 비용은 44-53%절감되었음. the annealing texture. Characteristics of Curd Yogurt from Milk Added with Maesil (Prunus mume) (매실(Prunus mume)을 첨가한 호상요구르트의 품질 특성)

  • Characteristics of curd yogurt containing maesil extract and flesh, and mixed cultures of lactic acid bacteria (Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and L. casei) were investigated redundant. The results of sensory evaluation of curd yogurts containing maseil indicated that color, odor, taste, flesh amount, aftertaste, and overall acceptability of the 3% maesil extract crud yogurt added with 20% maesil flesh showed higher preference than others. The contents of free fatty acid and citric acid of curd yogurts added with 3% maesil extract were higher than the specify sample. The Hunter L (brightness) value of curd yogurt added with 3% maesil extract was not significantly different from the control curd yogurt, while the Hunter a (redness) and Hunter b (yellowness) values were higher. The hardness, adhesiveness, and gumminess of 3% maesil extract curd yogurts added with 20% maesil flesh were higher than others.

  • In order to investigate the effect of dietary long chain fatty acids on fatty acid biosynthesis of liver in birds, single comb White Leghron male chicks were fed a fat-free diet an diets containing margaric, stearic and linoleic acids and liver lipid components and liver and plasma fatty acid distributions were compared. Total lipids of tissues were extracted with a chloroform-methanol mixture. The lipid components were determined by thin layer chromatography and fatty acid distribution of lipid fractions were determined by gas liquid chromatography. Fatty acid feeding did not affect liver lipid components. When margaric acid(17 : 0), was fed, 17:0 and heptadecenoic acid(17:1) appeared in every lipid fractions of liver and plasma, and distribution values of these acids were not significantly different between the lipid fractions of liver. In blood plasma of the 17 : 0 fed chicks, however, significantly higher distribution values of 17 : 0 and 17.1 were observed in the triglyceride fraction and in the cholesterol ester fraction, respectively. Dietary stearic acid (18 : 0) did not show any effect on the distribution of 18 : 0 in every lipid fractions of liver but showed a significantly higher distribution value of 18 : 0 in the free fatty acid fraction of plasma. When linoleic acid (18 : 2) was fed, every lipid fractions of liver and plasma contained 18 : 2, especially a significantly higher distribution value was observed in the phospholipid fraction of liver. Dietary margaric and linoleic acids tended to decrease the distribution value of endogenously synthesized palmitoleic (16 : 1) and oleic (18 : 1) acids in liver.

  • Leonardo da Vinci is remembered as the greatest genius of the Renaissance. He left outstanding achievements as an artist, scientist and inventor, and contributes up to today's science. He ranks the best in a variety of fields, such as botany, mathematics, geology, astronomy, geometry and optics. It has well known that Leonardo is an artist, scientist, inventor and philosopher. And he was a great anatomist that dissected dead bodies and animals directly and left many anatomical drawings. He took an interest in anatomy from the point of view of the artist, which is why the human body structure and function to know the sakes were "ignorant of the anatomy should not be upset." Over time, he became interested in the structure and function of the body, even get the human body in a difficult environment; he dissected many the human bodies directly. His scientific inquiry and infatuation made him as an advanced pioneer for more than 100 years, and got enough level to surpass the artistry. Leonardo left about 1,800 anatomical figures of the muscular, skeletal, vascular, nervous and urogenital system, and they are also very scientific and high artistic achievements. The aim of this article is to take a look at Leonardo da Vinci's anatomical achievements and thoughts. In addition, the goal is to knowledge today's anatomists about Leonardo da Vinci's astonishing achievements as a great pioneer in anatomy.

Effect of Light Transmission on Composition and Somatic Cell count of Raw Milk (분광된 빛의 주사가 원유내 성분에 미치는 영향)

  • Measurement of compositions and somatic cells in raw milk by chemical methods usually requires a lot of time, skilled labor and expensive analytical equipments. Recently, near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS), which is a rapid, cost-effective and non-destructive technique, has been extensively used for safety and quality evaluation in the field of dairy products. However, less study has been performed to evaluate the effect of transmitted light on milk quality during NIRS analysis. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the changes in milk quality using transmitted light. Raw milk samples collected from dairy farm from Siga prefecture in Japan were analyzed for fat, protein, lactose, solids not fat, total solids, milk urea and citric acid using the Milko scan 4000. Somatic cells in raw milk samples were counted by the Fossomatic 5000. Transmittance spectra of 50 ml raw milk samples were obtained by the Lax-Cute lighter in the 400 nm or less, 689 nm, 773 nm, 900 nm and 979 nm. As a result, milk fat as well as somatic cell count was increased by 2.6% and 9.0%, respectively. The other compositions were, however, changed within the relative error of the measurement. Further studies are needed to apply raw milk quality evaluation using the UV band by accumulating more samples and more data.

Phlox subulata, Cover Plant for Soil Conservation in Chinese Cabbage-Cultivated Highland (고랭지배추 재배지 토양보전을 위한 동반작물 지면패랭이)

  • To evaluate the effect of companion plant (Phlox subulata and Glechoma hederacea var. longituba) on conservation of soil in slopped highland, coverage of crops and soil erosion were investigated with 3 different conditions. The coverage rate of Phlox subulata with Chinese cabbage cultivation was kept on approximately 100% from Chinese cabbage-transplanting to -harvest. The coverage rate of Glechoma hederacea var. longituba with Chinese cabbage cultivation was low at it's early stage, however, reached to approximately 100% at the time of Chinese cabbage harvest. In contrast, the coverage rate of Chinese cabbage cultivation without cover crop, and simultaneous transplanting with Chinese cabbage and cover crop were approximately 60%. Losses of soil and nitrate nitrogen were much lower in Phlox subulata with Chinese cabbage cultivation ($0.1{\sim}0.2ton\;ha^{-1}$, $0.2{\sim}0.4kg\;NO_3{^-}-N\;ha^{-1}$) than those in Chinese cabbage cultivation without cover crop ($20.8ton\;ha^{-1}$, $2.1kg\;NO_3{^-}-N\;ha^{-1}$), and simultaneous transplanting with Chinese cabbage and cover crop ($8.9{\sim}10.5ton\;ha^{-1}$, $1.5{\sim}2.2kg\;NO_3{^-}-N\;ha^{-1}$). Cover plants suppressed the weed occurrence up to about 70%. Live mulching with cover plants set a good effects on weed suppression and reduction of soil and nutrient loss. Therefore intercropping with Phlox subulata will make great contributions to soil conservation in Chinese cabbage cultivated highland.

A Comparison of Proximal and Distal Chevron Osteotomy for the Correction of Severe Hallux Valgus Deformity (중증 무지외반증에서 원위 중족골 갈매기 절골술과 근위 중족골 갈매기 절골술의 결과 비교)

  • Purpose: This study compared the results of proximal and distal chevron osteotomy in patients with severe hallux valgus. Several recent studies have shown that the indications for distal metatarsal osteotomy with a distal soft-tissue procedure could be extended to include severe hallux valgus. Materials and Methods: This study analyzed 127 severe hallux valgus surgeries. Of these, 76 patients (76 feet) were excluded for lack of adequate follow-up and additional procedures (Akin procedure), leaving 51 patients (51 feet) in the study. The mean age of the patients was 58 years (21~83 years), and the mean follow-up duration was 18 months (12~32 months). The patients were divided into two groups. Group 1 underwent distal chevron osteotomy, and group 2 underwent proximal chevron osteotomy performed sequentially by a single surgeon. The patients were interviewed for the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score before and one year after surgery. The anteroposterior weight-bearing radiography of the foot was taken before and one year after surgery. Results: There were no significant differences in pain and function after one year in either group. Both groups experienced significant pain reduction and an increase in the AOFAS score. Significant improvement of the hallux valgus and intermetatarsal angle corrections was observed in both groups, and the sesamoid position was similar in each group. More improvement in radiographic correction of intermetatarsal angle was noted in group 2. Both procedures gave similar good clinical and radiological outcomes. Conclusion: This study suggests that a distal chevron osteotomy with a distal soft-tissue procedure is as effective and reliable a means of correcting severe hallux valgus as a proximal chevron osteotomy with a distal soft-tissue procedure.

Predictive model and quantitative microbial risk assessment of enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli and Campylobacter jejuni in milk (우유에서 장출혈성 대장균과 캠필로박터균의 행동예측 모델 개발 및 정량적 미생물 위해성 평가 연구)

  • We prepared the growth and survival models of enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) and Campylobacter jejuni in milk as a function of temperature and assessed the microbiological risks associated with the consumption of whole milk. EHEC and C. jejuni were not detected in whole milk (n=195) in the retail market. The minimum growth temperature of EHEC in milk was 7℃. The lag time of EHEC in whole milk was longer than that in skim milk. The survival ability of C. jejuni in milk was better at 4℃ than at 10℃. Lower delta values were observed in whole milk than in skim milk, indicating that C. jejuni survived better in skim milk. The probability of foodborne illness from whole milk consumption was 5.70×10-5 for EHEC and 9.86×10-9 for C. jejuni. Sensitivity analysis results show that the market temperature of EHEC and the dose-response model of C. jejuni are correlated with the probability of foodborne illness.

Comparative Analysis of the Results between the Early Period and the Midterm Period of a Single Surgeon's Experience in the Treatment of Hallux Valgus Using Scarf Osteotomy (단일 수술자에 의한 초기와 중기에 시행한 무지외반증에 대한 Scarf 절골술의 결과 비교)

  • Purpose: This study evaluated the results of two groups-the early group and midterm group-comparatively in the treatment of hallux valgus using a scarf osteotomy. Materials and Methods: From January 2005 to December 2009 (Group 1) and from January 2010 to December 2013 (Group 2), this study compared hallux valgus cases treated by a scarf osteotomy by a single surgeon with at least a five-year follow-up. Results: The average ages of Group 1 and Group 2 were 50.5 and 51.7 years old, respectively. The average follow-up of Groups 1 and 2 were 7.4 and 6.2 years, respectively. Groups 1 and 2 had 86 cases (53 patients) and 93 cases (64 patients) with at least a five-year follow-up, respectively. The average hallux valgus angle (HVA) and 1-2 intermetatarsal angle (IMA) of Group 1 were improved from 31.3° and 13.9° preoperatively to 11.3° and 6.8° at the final follow-up, respectively (p<0.001). The average HVA and 1-2 IMA of Group 2 were improved from 31.7° and 13.4° preoperatively to 8.9° and 6.6° at the final follow-up, respectively (p<0.001). The mean American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score of both groups increased from 48.5 and 45.0 points preoperatively to 73.7 and 82.4 points at the final follow-up, respectively. The numbers of patient-assessed subjective satisfaction of Groups 1 and 2 at the final follow-ups were as follows: excellent, 27 and 36 (31.4%, 38.7%); good, 34 and 49 (39.5%, 52.7%); fair, 13 and 5 (15.1%, 5.4%); poor, 12 and 3 (13.9%, 3.2%); respectively. Neither troughing nor stress fractures occurred in both groups. Conclusion: Scarf osteotomy for treating hallux valgus is an excellent surgical method with a relatively low incidence of complications. The results in Group 2 were better than those in Group 1, showing that more surgical experience and evolution of the techniques provided better results.
