  • The cashierless store, which is rapidly spreading with the development of AI, is providing new shopping experiences to customers. However, the existing retail service research mainly focused on evaluation based on employees (people). This study was initiated to evaluate services by reorganizing these service evaluations according to the characteristics of cashierless store. In addition, the effect of the service experience characteristics of AI cashierless store on customers' positive or negative emotions was identified, and the effect on revisit intention was verified. As a result of this study, it was confirmed that the service experience characteristics of AI cashierless store had some effect on emotional response. In addition, it was confirmed that the positive emotional response caused by the characteristics of the AI cashierless store service experience induces revisiting, but the negative emotional response hinders revisiting. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the research and development of AI cashierless store services.

  • In this study, the relationship between service quality and visit intention of unmanned cosmetics stores was investigated and whether there was a moderating effect of familiarity. To this end, a total of 190 questionnaires were collected and the main results of frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and correlation analysis using the statistical package SPSS 26.0 are summarized as follows. First, it was found that usefulness, ease, and playfulness, which are components of service quality in unmanned cosmetics stores, had a significant effect on the intention to visit. Second, familiarity was also found to have a significant effect on visit intention, and was found to have the greatest influence on visit intention. Third, as a result of examining the moderating effect of familiarity on the relationship between service quality and visit intention of unmanned cosmetics stores, usefulness, ease, and playfulness were all statistically insignificant, indicating that there was no moderating effect of familiarity. As a result of the above, in order to increase the familiarity, which has the greatest influence on the intention to visit, marketing should be presented emphasizing the promotion or advertisement of unmanned cosmetics stores.

  • This study examines the effect of VMD (Visual merchandising) of unmanned stores and the affordance of unmanned systems on a customer's value and intention of revisit. The proposed research model and developed hypotheses were tested using structural equations modeling based on data collected from 297 customers with experience in unmanned stores. The results of the study confirm the positive effects of the unmanned system's affordance and unmanned stores' VMD on customer value. In addition, there is a positive relationship between a customer's value and intention of revisit. The study provides valuable insights into the sustainability of unmanned stores after post-COVID 19 and the importance of developing unmanned stores' VMD and affordance.

  • This paper presents an unmanned store management system that can provide inventory management and theft prevention for displayed products using a small camera that can monitor the shelves of sold products in small and medium-sized stores. This system is a service solution that integrates object recognition, real-time communication, security management, access management, and mobile authentication. The proposed system uses a custom YOLOv5-x model to recognize objects on the display, measure quantities in real time, and support real-time data communication with servers through Raspberry Pie. In addition, the number of objects in the database and the object recognition results are compared to detect suspected theft situations and provide burial images at the time of theft. The proposed unmanned store solution is expected to improve the efficiency of small and medium-sized unmanned store operations and contribute to responding to theft.

  • The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the widespread adoption of contactless transactions, resulting in a noticeable increase in the trend towards fully unmanned stores. In such stores, all operational processes are automated, primarily using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. However, this AI technology has several security vulnerabilities, which can be critical in the environment of fully unmanned stores. This paper analyzes the security vulnerabilities that AI-based fully unmanned stores may face, focusing particularly on the object detection model YOLO, demonstrating that Hiding Attacks and Altering Attacks using adversarial patches are possible. It is confirmed that objects with adversarial patches attached may not be recognized by the detection model or may be incorrectly recognized as other objects. Furthermore, the paper analyzes how Data Augmentation techniques can mitigate security threats by providing a defensive effect against adversarial patch attacks. Based on these results, we emphasize the need for proactive research into defensive measures to address the inherent security threats in AI technology used in fully unmanned stores.

  • The universal form of life in the era of the 4th industrial revolution can probably be summarized as the keyword "non-face-to-face". In particular, in terms of consumption activities, face-to-face contact is gradually changing to a system that minimizes, and offline stores are rapidly changing to non-contact services through kiosks and robots. The social structure is also changing with the passage of time, and most fundamentally, our dietary consumption patterns are changing. In particular, the increase in single-person households and the aging population are having a great impact on changes in the food service industry, which is closely related to dietary life. The HMR (Home Meal Replacement) market has grown significantly as the labor of cooking at home has decreased and the use of substitute foods has increased. As the size of the market has grown, the types of businesses that provide products have also diversified. The development of technology, non-face-to-face culture, and corporate management efficiency are intertwined, and unmanned stores are spreading recently. In this study, service quality attributes of HMR unmanned stores, where competition is gradually intensifying, are classified, and service quality classification using the Kano model and Timko's customer satisfaction coefficient are calculated to provide implications for service management based on customer satisfaction. As a result of the analysis, 'products with short cooking time' and 'variety of products (menu)' were classified as attractive qualities, and 'cleanliness inside/outside of the store' and 'products at reasonable prices' were classified as unified quality. In addition, 'convenience of self-checkout process' was classified as a natural quality, and 'convenience of in-store passage' was classified as an indifferent quality. Furthermore, when the service factor was satisfied within the HMR unmanned store, the factor with the highest satisfaction coefficient was 'product (menu) variety', and the factor with the highest dissatisfaction factor was 'convenience of self-checkout process'. Through the results of this study, it is intended to derive priorities in service quality management of HMR unmanned stores and provide strategic implications for related businesses.
