  • ATM techniques ar ewidely accepted as a key transport mechanism infiber-based broadband network. However, to keep pace with the rpid emerging wireless high speed market, it is desirable to verify the reliability & daptability of ATM protocol on high error environment. This paper investigates the various ATM cell transfer characteristics over air interface. Though simulation, we analyze their usabilities of HeC mechanism and single-bit error correction algorithm based on ITU-T recommendation. We propose some methods for cell transport improvement over errored environment and investigate their performance for suggested schemes.

  • 유선에서 이용하는 능력으로 무선으로도멀티미디어 서비스를 이용하고자 연구된덧이 무선 ATM이다. 무선 ATM에서 핸드오프는 망 레벨과 무선 A레벨의 무선 핸드오프로 구분할 수 있다. 망 레벨의 핸드오프에서 CX의 선택은 빠르고 매끄러운 핸드오프를 지원해 주는데 중요한 역할을 한다. 망 관리에는 하나의 연결서버가 망의 연결관리를 해주는 중앙 집중 연결관리(Centralized Connection Management Scheme)와 각노드에서 연결을 관리하는 분산된 연결관리(Distributed Connection Management Scheme)로 나뉜다. 여기서 문제점은 중앙집중 연결관리에서는 전달지연시간(Propagation delay), 분산된, 연결관리에서는 시스템 오버헤드가 발생한다는 것이다. 이러한 중앙집중 연결관리의 지연시간과 분산된 연결관리의 오버헤드를 감소시키기 Distributed 위해 탐색알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • One of the most important topics of recent years is that a multimedia technology such as wireless ATM has been introduced in radio systems for video, voice and data transmission. A major problem in such systems is the occurrence of errors due to multipath fading or interference. To combat this problem, forward error correction (FEC) coding is commonly used as a means of eliminating these errors. This paper has analyzed theoretically the effect of fading to design effective wireless ATM system. The BER, CLR, and CER of wireless ATM system adopting FEC coding and diversity reception techniques have been derived in fading environment. Also, simulations of BER and CLR have been carried out and compared with the above theoretical results.

  • This paper proposes the method of mobility implementation for location searching in the intelligence wireless ATM networks that expand and apply standard broadband signaling capabilities, and analyze the performance based on the numerical algorithm. The existing B-ISDN UNI protocol stack demands the location search mechanism to determine the location of mobile terminal in the wireless ATM networks because it use single protocol through the fixed PTP interface or PTM interface that don't support terminal mobility. The proposed method make possible the dynamic mobility at a part of wireless access by minimizing the signaling load without a falling-off in system performance by using the intelligence network technology according to the expansion of ATM and B-ISDN signaling integration based on the fixed networks. We implemented the performance analysis by MFC modeling based on numerical algorithm, and realized the efficiency of expenses by carrying out the comparative signaling performance evaluation to measure the relative gains of location search service in the intelligence wireless ATM system. The obtained results have the flexibility to operate in the public B-ISDN network environment without a change of existing B-ISDN/ATM NNI signaling reference to support the wireless ATM access system, and can easily expand to correspond to terminal mobility and various multimedia services in the next broadband PCS.

  • Recently, wireless networks have been pursuing multimedia data service as voice, data, image, video and various form of data according to development of information communication technology. It guarantees cell delivery delay of real time data in efficient real time multimedia data transfer. Also, it minimizes cell loss rate of non-real time multimedia data. In the wireless ATM, there are based on Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM). It implies that there are various service with difficult transmission rates and qualities in the wireless communication network. As a result, it is important to find out the ways to guarantee the Quality of Service(QoS) for each kind of traffic in wireless network. In this thesis, we propose an improved TCRM scheduling algorithms for transmission real-time multimedia data service in wireless ATM Networks. We appear real time multimedia scheduling policy that apply each different method to uplink and downlik to wireless ATM network. It can guarantee QoS requirements for each real time data and non-real time data. It also deals the fairness problem for sharing the scarce wireless resources. We solve fault of TCRM as inefficient problem of non-real data by using arbitrary transmission speed and RB(Reservation Buffer) through VC(Virtual Control) and BS(Base Station).

  • 무선 ATM망에서 다수 연결채널로부터 발생되는 트래픽의 서비스 질을 보장하고 한정된 무선 자원을 효율적으로 사용하기 위해서는 다중접속제어 기술이 중요한 설계요소 중 하나이다. 본고에서는 ATM 프로토콜 특성을 무선 구간에 까지 확장한 동적다중슬롯할당(DMSA: Dynamic Multi-Slot Assignment)기법의 단점 중 하나인 연결채널별 지연 성능의 차이에 대해 분석하고, 이를 해결하기 위하여 이동국으로부터 각 연결채널에 대해 전달되는 정보를 이용하여 중앙제어국에 가상큐를 도입하는 방안을 제안한다. 중앙제어국에서는 구성된 가상큐룰 이용하여 상향링크의 다음 한 프레임내 모든 타임슬롯에 대한 연결채녈 할당을 수행한다. 다양한 트래픽 소스에 대한 시뮬레이션을 통해 가상큐-동적다중슬롯할당 알고리즘이 기존의 동적다중슬롯할당 알고리즘에 비해 중앙제어국에서의 단순한 제어 부하만으로도 다수의 연결채널에 대해 균등한 설비스 질을 보장하고 지연 변이 특성의 성능 향상을 나타냄을 입증한다. 이러한 연구결과는 동종 혹은 이종의 트래픽을 가진 각 연결 채널에 대해 무선 구간의 분산 환경으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 불평등성을 해결함으로써 무선 ATM의 개념을 우선 ATM과 유사한 환경으로 분석할 수 있는 계기를 마련한 것으로 판단된다.

Performance Analysis of MC-CDMA Systmes for Wireless ATM (무선 ATM 전송을 위한 MC-CDMA 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, the performances of MC-CDMA systems for wireless ATM(WATM) is analyzed through computer simulations. The proposed MC-CDMA systems can support the 25 Mbps data rate with about 18.2 MHz bandwidth at 5 GHz carrier frequency, satisfying the specifications of wireless physical layer proposed by Wireless ATM Working Group(WATM WG). For the channel coding strategies, convolutional code, TCM and Turbo TCM(T-TCM) are explored and their performances are compared. From the simulation results, T-TCM becomes superior to the other coding schemes as interative decoding is performed.

  • To maximize the statistical multiplexing gain in wireless ATM MAC, a centralized scheduling function must be provided for the dynamic slot assignment in the wireless ATM access point. Exploiting the dynamic parameters received in the wireless ATM access point, the centralized scheduler will execute a dynamic slot assignment to determine bandwidth required for individual wireless terminal. In this paper, we propose a new scheduling algorithm, which can effectively reduce a burden of the explicit signaling requirement of transmitting the dynamic parameters in a timely manner. We have demonstrated that the proposed approach outperforms the existing schemes in terms of the timeliness of transmitting the dynamic parameters, which is a critical factor to the performance of delay-sensitive service classes, and works as an effective means of dynamic slot assignment without heavily relying on the dynamic parameters in the wireless ATM networks.

  • In the network with small cell radius, a mobile terminal which has large mobility should perform frequent handover. This requires that handover mechanism must be done fastly. The currently existing method for handover uses an algorithm in which the bandwidth corresponding to the adjacent cells is supposed to be allocated. However, this method leads to the problem of requiring bandwidth allocation for many-unknown cells, due to the lack of information toward moving direction in mobile terminal. In this paper, we propose an efficient dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm for solving those problem above, based on both path rerouting handover and soft handover mechanism with wireless ATM. As for the QoS, it has been shown that proposed algorithm shows better performance than that with static bandwidth allocation algorithm.

  • Asynchronous Transfer Model(ATM)에 기반한 광대역 멀티미디어 통신망에서 best effort 형태의 서비스 지원을 위해 Available Bit Rate(ABR) 서비스가 사용되고 있다. 이미 제안된 많은 수의 ABR 전송률제어 알고리즘들은 정확하게 적정전송률을 계산하는 알고리즘(exact fair rate calculation algorithm)과 적정전송률의 근사치를 계산하는 알고리즘(approximate fair rate calculation algorithm)의 두 분류로 크게 구분 될 수 있다. 정확하게 적정전송률을 계산하는 알고리즘은 공정성과 응답성(responsiveness)측면에서 장점을 갖는다. 하지만 무선ATM 환경 하에서는 무선링크의 가용대역폭이 무선채널의 오류특성으로 인해 시변(time-varying)하므로, 정확하게 적정전송률을 계산하는 알고리즘은 무선ATM 환경에 적용되기 어려우며 따라서 적정전송률의 근사치를 계산하는 알고리즘이 대산 사용될 수 있다. 이 경우에 적정전송률의 근사치를 계산하는 알고리즘들의 응답성이 상대적으로 뒤떨어지는 특성으로 인해 가용대역폭이 시변하는 경우 알고리즘 성능의 저하가 발생될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 적정전송률의 근사치를 계산하는 알고리즘들을 위한 응답성 개선 방안을 제안하고 응답성이 개선된 적정전송률의 근사치를 계산하는 알고리즘의 한 예로 응답성이 개선된 EDMRCA 알고리즘을 제시한다. 모의 실험을 통해 제시하는 알고리즘이 EDMRCA보다 응답성 측면에서 상당히 개선되었음을 보인다.
