In this paper, we propose an optimal multi-hop transmission scheme to maximize the end-to-end data rate from the source to the destination node in a wireless powered communication network. The frame structure for multi-hop transmission is presented to transmit multi-hop data while harvesting energy. Then, the transmission time of each node that maximizes the end-to-end transmission rate is determined through mathematical analysis in consideration of different harvested energy and link quality among nodes. We derive an optimization problem through system modeling of the considered wireless powered multi-hop transmission, and prove that there is a global optimal solution by verifying the convexity of this optimization problem. This analysis facilitates to find the optimal solution of the considered optimization problem. The proposed optimal multi-hop transmission scheme maximizes the end-to-end rate by allocating the transmission time for each node that equalizes the transmission rates of all links.

In this paper, we propose a distributed transmit power control algorithm for optimal end-to-end throughput in wireless multihop networks. Considering a solidarity property of link rates consisting of a multihop link and the fact that the multihop end-to-end throughput is determined by the minimum link rate, the proposed scheme controls the transmit power to make all link rates be equal and so maximizes the end-to-end throughput of multihop link. In addition, in the proposed scheme the transmit node calculates its transmit power autonomously in a distributed manner just through the information sharing with its neighbor nodes and so decreases the information sharing overhead. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves significant improvements in terms of end-to-end throughput and power consumption compared with the conventional maximum equal power allocation scheme.

To solve the shortage of radio spectrum and utilize spectrum resource more efficiently, cognitive radio technologies are proposed, and many studies on cognitive radio have been conducted. Multi-hop routing is one of the important technologies to enable the nodes to transmit data further with lower power in ad-hoc cognitive radio networks. In a multi-channel cognitive radio networks, each channel should be allocated to minimize interference to primary users. In the multi-hop routing, channel allocation should consider the inter-channel interference to maximize network throughput. In this paper, we propose multi-channel scheduling scheme which minimizes inter-channel interferences and avoids collision with primary users for the multi-hop multi-channel cognitive radio networks. The proposed scheduling is designed to determine both of routing path and channel selection. The performance of proposed channel allocation scheme is evaluated by the computer simulation in the aspect of capacity and collision rate.

We propose a wireless-powered multihop transmission scheme using inter-node cooperation in a linear network topology. The proposed protocol determines the energy transfer time for each node to make the lifetime of the each node be equal in order to maximize the lifetime of the multihop path. To make the lifetime of each node the same, we apply the flocking algorithm which imitates the behavior of a bird flock flying at the same velocity, so that the lifetime of the nodes is averaged locally. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can maximize the lifetime of the multihop path by making all nodes have the same lifetime.

In this paper, we propose a multi-hop cooperative transmission protocol over Rayleigh fading channels. In the proposed protocol, the multi-hop cooperative transmission is used to improve the system performance. Due to broadcast nature, we do not limit the receiving node to be only the next node, but the destination and all the nodes between the transmitting node and the destination. The proposed protocol can hence save the average transmit power, compared with multi-hop direct transmission protocol due to the skipped transmissions from some intermediate nodes or chosen relays. The proposed scheme is implemented and evaluated in mobile ad-hoc wireless networks.

This paper reconsiders established power conservation models for ubiquitous sensor networks that use relay nodes instead of direct communication and proposes novel network power consumption model with consideration of the channel level and radio chip level simultaneously. We estimate the effect of minimum hop-count policy in terms of network power consumption through simulation of various situations for low power RF module CC2420. It is observed that maximum RF power and minimum hop-count results in lower energy consumption relatively. Also, in total network energy consumption, which is included re-transmission, minimum hop count policy presents decrease by 33.1% of energy consumption in compare with the conventional model.

In an wireless sensor network, energy efficient routing protocol is important for multi-hop transmission because senor nodes are powered by battery. In multi-hop transmission, specifice nodes are used and the battery power becomes low, it induce the asymetric remaining power among the nodes and makes the network lifetime reduced. In this paper, we propose a power-aware routing protocol which determines the routing path considering the remaining power of the nodes. Simulation results shows that the proposed routing scheme minimize the transmission delay and increase the network lifetime.

For the wireless mesh networks, efficient routing protocol is required to transmit data from source to destination node through multi-hop transmission. Multipath routing enable the stable data transmission even in the case of traffic congestion or unstable link. In this paper, we propose partial multipath routing which does not make a full multipath but partial for some parts of unstable links. This partial multipath routing reduce the number of nodes for routing and minimized the required power.

Efficient routing algorithm is required to transmit data from source to destination by multi-hop transmission in wireless sensor networks. In the multi-hop transmission, multipath routing can be one of the solutions to cope with the traffic congestion and unstable link condition. In this paper, we propose partial multipath routing which does not establish a secondary full routing path but a partial multipath to complement some poor links, and it can enable stable data transmission and reduce the number of nodes in routing path and the required total power compared with conventional multipath routing.
