  • The corrosion of reinforcement induced by chloride ingress is the main deterioration cause of coastal reinforced concrete structures. In this paper, an experimental study was executed to investigate the effect of the kinds and replacement ratios of mineral admixtures (fly-ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag silica fume and meta-kaolin), W/B and curing time on chloride diffusion of concrete by long-time immersion test in chloride solution. According to the result, the use of mineral admixtures was effective in improving the resistant to chloride ingress. The chloride penetration depth and diffusion coefficient were decreased as replacement ratios of mineral admixture were increased. The kind and replacement ratio of the mineral admixture are more important than the W/B in reducing the chloride diffusion of concrete. Chloride binding capacity of mineral admixture, which was sequenced in the order of MK

  • Recently, high performance concrete developed has a good quality at fresh and hardened state, but high binder contents results in spending much money on manufacturing and many cracks by drying and autogenous shrinkage, Therefore, in this paper, not only prevention of cracks caused by drying and autogenous shrinkage, but improvement of quality and accomplishment of economy by applying F.A(fly ash), S.F(silica fume) and CSA(calcium sulfa aluminate) expansive additives as an inorganic admixtures in W/B 35% are discussed. According to the experimental results, when 5% of CSA expansive additives and 15:5(F.A:S.F)are replaced at unit cement content, high performance concrete with both good fluidity at fresh state and high compressive strength, compensation of drying and autogenous shrinkage at hardened state are accomplished.

  • This study was performed to investigate the effect of mineral admixture' type and replacement ratios on the chloride penetration resistance of concrete which was immersed in the artificial chloride solution. The chloride penetration resistance was evaluated by penetration depth and chloride diffusion coefficient. As a result, all of the mineral admixtures were effective on the chloride penetration resistance of concrete compared to ordinary portland cement only.

  • The watertight property of concrete was examined, that is affected by the sort of self waterproofing admixture and the change of the addition ratio of admixture. Various self waterproofing admixtures were made by changing the mixing ratio of silica fume, zinc stearate and silica sand. The result showed as follows. As the adding ratio of self waterproofing admixture increases, the fluidity is increased and the setting time is delayed. While compressive strength of concrete with self waterproofing admixture A which is currently using is increased until the adding ratio of self waterproofing admixture reached 18kg/㎥ and decreased over 24 kg/㎥, that with self waterproofing admixture B, C and D which are developed are higher than that of A. Absorption is decreased as the adding ratio of self waterproofing admixture and the increasing of age in concrete. Especially, when self waterproofing admixture has a lot of zinc stearate, absorption is decreased manifestly. The property of permeability is similar to that of absorption; permeability is decreased as the adding ratio of self waterproofing admixture and the increasing of age in concrete. Consequently, when the ratio of silica fume, zinc stearate and silica sand in self waterproofing admixture is 1 : 2 : 1 and addition ratio of self waterproofing admixture is 6kg/㎥, the high quality concrete is obtained comparing to the concrete with existent self waterproofing admixture.

  • The undesirable effects of elevated external temperatures at placement on the properties of the fresh and hardened concrete are discussed briefly, and the possible use of the mineral admixtures to mitigate them and the association with water-reducing and retarding admixtures in terms of the mix design which are critical for minimizing slump loss and entrained air loss are examined in this study. To investigate the effects of such the mineral and chemical admixtures on the fresh and hardened properties of concrete exposed to high temperature, a series of concrete mixtures subjected to the high temperature were carried out and then fresh and hardened properties of the mixtures were analyzed and evaluated. Based on the results, new guide lines concerning the appropriate admixtures for hot weather are suggested.

  • This study is intended to devolop the self waterproof agents for high performance concrete by analyzing the properties of fresh and hardened mortar with various addition ratios of the inorganic admixture and zinc stearate. As the results of the test, the flow and air content increase with the addition of expansive additives. When the replacement rate of silica fume increases, the flow decreases for the increased viscidity. And the flow and sir content decrease with the addition of zinc stearate. At hardened state, the compressive strength, tensile strength and flexual strength decrease with the addition of expansive additives and zinc stearate. With the increase of silica fume's replacement, they show a little decrease at early age and then increase gradually. Also, absorption and permeability show a steep decrease when zinc stearate is added, and a slack decrease with the replacement of silica fume.

  • Of construction materials, cement and steel are the representative material that carbon dioxide. to reduce carbon emissions in the use of these materials The purpose of this study is low heat type blended cement, which is manufactured using a amount of cement than ordinary low heat blended cement. Low heat blended cement, mixing ratio of 10%, was investigated hydration properties and adiabatic temperature of concrete. The study in order to activate the reaction mineral admixture, a separate source of CaO and $SO_3$ areneeded. gypsum and lime, it expected amount of cement, low-carbon low-heat blended cement could reduce the hydration heat concrete than currentlyused low heat blended cement.
