  • In building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems, power generation functions are integrated into building functions by installing solar modules in combination with building materials. While this integration appears to be attractive, a design method is needed to achieve maximum power generation. Previously, the influence of the design elements on power generation was analyzed by computer simulations and demonstration tools. On the other hand, problems remain due to the inaccuracy of power generation analysis and relationship analysis, and limited demonstration. To solve this problem, this paper proposed the use of an extended demonstration mock-up. The mock-up was designed and constructed by implementing the design elements of the module types, installation angles, and direction. The actual operation data for one year were analyzed to evaluate the effects of the design elements on power generation. These results can be used to determine the feasibility of future BIPV systems and the optimal selection of system design elements.

  • This paper discusses a series of experiments including material improvement in order to ensure quality of grouting for the post-tensioned structure. In presstressed concrete, grouting refers to the construction procedure of filling empty space of duct enclosing the prestress tendons using cementitious material, To date, adequate quality control of the grouting has not been established in Korea because the relationship between the grouting and durability of post-tensioned structure is not well-recognized. The Korean standard does not consider the important material characteristic, wick effect, which is caused by tendons in the ducts, and furthermore current standard testing method does not quantify reasonable material segregation. As a result, the grout material, which satisfies the current material standards, may well exhibit excessive bleeding of water or shrinkage during construction. In this study, international codes and standards related to grouting were surveyed. The mix proportions of the constituents and novel admixtures were suggested to meet equivalently with these standards. Performance of this enhanced grout was compared with common domestic grouts using the international standard testing method. A series of mock-up specimens considering geometry of PC beam was constructed and grout flow pattern was observed as the grout was injected. It was observed that the grouting performance was highly influenced by material properties and filling characteristic can be varied depending on geometry of ducts.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate lateral load resistance of a wall structure composed of precast concrete wall and H-Pile. This type of structure can be used for noise barrier foundation or retaining wall. Mock-up specimens having actual size were designed and fabricated. The lateral design load is 54.6kN. The H-pile length for the test specimen is 1.5m for simulating behavior of actual wall structure has 6.5m H-pile in the field, which is determined from theoretical study. Lateral displacements and strains of wall and H-pile were monitored and cracking in precast concrete wall inspected during the test. Load and deformation capacity of test specimens was compared with design capacity. The comparisons demonstrated that this type of structures, precast concrete wall and H-pile, can resist enough to lateral design load.

  • The aim of this research is analyzing the fundamental properties and autogenous shrinkage reducing performance of 70 and 100MPa grade high performance concrete including emusified refined cooking oil(ERCO) under the mock-up conditions. As a results of experiment, the mixture contained 0.5% of ERCO showed slightly decreased slump flow while the slump was increased and segregation resistance performance was improved as 2.5 of EIS. For air content, all mixtures satisfied target air content with increased unit weight and delayed setting time with ERCO addition. In the case of compressive strength, when ERCO was added 0.5%, the result of approximately 5 to 10% of increased compressive strength was observed. For the autogenous shrinkage, ERCO contributed on 20-30% of shrinkage reducing performance comparing to Plain mixture without ERCO. It is considered that capillary pore filling action of soap particles occurred by the reaction of ERCO in cement paste between fatty aicd and calcium hydroxide contributed the shrinkage reducing performance. Based on these mock-up test results, application of the high performance concrete mixture with ERCO on CFT actual structure was decided.

  • Concrete exposed to severely low temperature below $-20^{\circ}C$ should be provided with proper heat supplying curing to protect the concrete from early frost damage at the time of pouring.meanwhile, so far, effective heat curingmethods of the concrete under severely low temperature are not well established in Korea. For this reason, the objective of this paper is to provide effective heat curingmethod of concrete exposed to severely low temperature to protect early frost damage by varying the combination of heat curingmaterial combinations. Temperature history, maturity development and core strength results are investigated. Fourmock-up specimens simulating slab, wall and column were prepared and heat insulation, heat supplying and both were applied. Test results indicate that the combination of quadruple layer bubble sheet(4BS) and embedding of heating cable has desirable performance for a slab, and heat supplying curing inside heat enclosure and heat generationmat also shows desirable performance for a wall, and for a column, use of EPS heat insulation has proper performance against early frost damage, which reaches $45^{\circ}D{\cdot}D$ and helps the concretemaintain above $0^{\circ}C$ within 3 days. Themethodsmentioned above are believed to be optimum protection from early frost damage of the concrete under $-20^{\circ}C$.

  • Indoor air quality has become increasingly important with the increase in time spent in residential environments, impact of external fine dust, yellow dust, and the post-COVID 19 pandemic. Residential mechanical ventilation plays a key role in addressing indoor air quality. The legal standard for residential air changes per hour in Korea is 0.5 ACH. However, there are no standards for the location of supply and return vents. This study atempts to analyze the impact of ventilation performance based on the location of supply and return vents. An experiment was conducted using the CO2 tracer gas concentration decay method in a mock-up house set inside a large chamber to minimize external influences. The experimental results indicated that the commonly used combination of 2 supply and 2 return vents in living room spaces had a lower mean age of air than the combination of 1 supply and 2 return vents. Using multiple supply and return vents had lower mean age of air than using just 1 supply and 1 return vent.

  • The present study aims to investigate the level difference of floor impact noises of composite floor structure using EVA resilient materials. In order to this, four different types of resilient materials were designed combining PET, PP sheet and EVA mount including Flat type, Deck type, Cavity type and Mount type. Totally 9 different samples were made for acoustic measurements which were carried out twice with bang-machine and impact ball as the heavy-weight floor impact noise sources. All the floor impact noise measurements were undertaken at the authentication institution. As a result, concerning Flat and Cavity types, it was found that 2 dB ~ 5 dB of heavy-weight floor impact noise was reduced supplementally when PET was added, while floor impact noise larger than 50 dB was acquired when single resilient material was used. Especially, most high performance was obtained for Mount type with 1st grade of light-weight floor impact noise and 2nd grade of heavy-weight floor impact noise. This is because of material property with low dense PET sound absorption materials which fill all around EVA mounts. Also, it was considered that this results are due to the sound impact absorption by the both EVA mounts and the air cavity between EVA mount and PP sheet. Also, it was found that at least 36 EVA mounts per 1m2 area of resilient panel make more noise reduction of heavy-weight floor impact noises.
