A Study on Infant Temperament and Mother-Infant Attachment of Breast-Feeding Mothers (모유수유 영아모가 인지한 영아기질과 모아애착 정도)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate infant temperament and mother-infant attachment of breast-feeding mothers with a $5{\sim}7$ month old infant. Methods: This study was descriptive research. The subjects were 258 infants and their mothers participating in 'Year 2007 Healthy Breastfed Baby Contest' on September 5, 2007 and visiting a community health service center from September 1 to December 30 in 2007, The data was gathered by structured questionnaires about the 'maternal attachment inventory (MAI)' and 'what my baby is like (WBL)'. Results: The mean score of WBL was 6.75 and that of MAI was 3.88. In addition, there was a significant positive correlation between the score of infant temperament and mother-infant attachment (r = .33, p < .01). Conclusion: Breast-feeding mothers perceived infant's temperament as more positive, therefore, breast-feeding should be encouraged.

  • 모유의 뮤신 복합체는 rotavirus에 특이적으로 결합하여 항 바이러스활동을 보여주는 것으로 나타났다. 자연 상태에서의 뮤신은 몇몇 작은 분자들과 복합적으로 연합되어 있는데 70kda의 glycoprotein, butyrophilin, 그리고 glycosylated component, lactadherin을 포함하고 있다. 그중 rotavirus에 가장 높은 결합력과 항바이러스 활동을 나타내는 Lactadherin은 모유의 유단백질의 하나인 뮤신과 결합되어 분비되는 당단백질의 하나로 분자량이 46kda이고, 지방구막 속에 연합되어있다. 이러한 배경에서 본 연구에서는 한국 여성의 breast tissue로부터 lactadherin 유전자의 cloning 및 in vitro에서의 발현을 유도하여 lactadherin band만을 purify하였고 여기서 얻은 lactadherin을 항체 생산을 위한 항원으로 사용하여 anti-lactadherin antibody를 확보하였다. 이 항체는 human milk에서의 lactadherin을 동정하는데 사용하였는데 western blot결과 lactadherin을 포함하여 몇 몇 단백질들이 확인되었다. Human milk내 mucin은 몇몇 작은 분자들과 복합체를 형성하는 것으로 확인되어졌는데 70kda의 glycoprotein, butyrophilin 그리고 46kda의 glyxosylated component, lactadherin을 포함하고 있는 milk mucin은 associated molecular임을 확인할 수 있었다.

Health Care Professinals' Attitudes, Knowledge and Confidence on Brestfeeding : Metropolitan Areas of South Korea (의료요원의 모유수유에 대한 태도, 신념 침 지식 정도의 비교분석)

  • A 15-minute questionnaire on breast-feeding was administered to the obstetric and pediatric residents and nurses in metropolitan academic training programs in Korea to assess their attitudes to and knowledge about breast-feeding and their confidence in managing breast-feeding problems. The questionnaires were self-administered and confidential and the participants was 279. Overall, the study participants indicated a supportive attitude toward breast-feeding. Nurses had a highest supportive attitude than obstetric and pediatric residents. Their self-confidence in this area was inappropriately high with 48% of total, 49% of obstetric, 42% of pediatric and 58% of nurses describing themselves as "confident" or "very confident" to manage common breast-feeding problems to compare their knowledge level answering only 46% of the questions correctly. However, nurses who did have continuing education about breast-feeding had significantly high in knowledge level. These health care professionals have extremely limited knowledge of breast-feeding management compared to their reported confidence. To be truly supportive of breast-feeding, health care professionals should receive didactic and clinical training to breast-feeding management.

A Longitudinal Study of micro-Mineral Concentration in Human Milk (수유 기간에 따른 모유의 미량 무기질 농도 변화에 관한 연구 -모유의 동, 아연, 망간 및 셀레늄의 농도 변화-)

  • This study investigated micro-mineral content in human milk along with nutritional intake of lactating women. Milk samples were collected from 33 healthy lactating women and mineral levels were analyzed. Copper, zinc, manganese and selenium were analyzed. The factors that affect the mineral levels in human milk were also investigated longitudinally from 2-5 days to 12 weeks postpartum. Concentrations of manganese and selenium didn't differ significantly within the lactation period. the levels of copper and zinc declined linearly over the first 12 weeks of lactation. Statistically significant quadratic trends were observed in zinc concentrations. There was no significant correlation between maternal age and mineral concentrations throughout the lactation period. In addition, no significant differences were found between the primipara and the multipara for mineral concentrations in human milk.
