Study for applying the augmented reality onto postage stamps (우표의 증강현실 적용에 관한 연구)

  • The commemorative AR postage stamps which are the world first presented at The YEOSU EXPO 2012 has had meaning of communicating with future in this present from a convergence that the most analog medium is using now and that the AR is cutting edge of digital technology. The AR stamps printed 10 kind out of 33 commemorative stamps. These have great significance that is artistic value than that is world first. The applied AR images are not only expressed 3D real images but also artic represented and signifying each stamp images from visualized creativity process, and build 'new art space' that is new concept between on real(analog) and virtual(digital). This study analyzes meaning of images and then makes concept of AR contents design. The processing is designed and considered the meaning of architectures and environments, and the regional specific feature of the Yeosu with surrealistic graphic concept. The 10 of deducted images were expressed after AR coding such as visual arts. This study realized markerless 3D image tracking AR stamps and deducted research result are; the first, it was able to figure out how to realize AR in the process of registering the reference images, coordinating transformation, and hybriding AR on the stamps for the mobile devices. The second, it was able to be seeked a possibility of new virtual exhibition space. The third, it was able to know possibility of satisfaction of immersing with visual formativeness and usability with informativity.

  • Followed by that HTML5(Hypertext Markup Language5) was introduced, many kinds of program and services based on this have been developed and released. HTML5 is technical standard specifications for cross platform for personal computers and mobile devices so that it is expected that continuing progress and wide application in the both sides of the academic and the industrial fields increase. This study is to design and implement a mobile application program for overlay rendering with DEM and other geo-based image sets using HTML5 WebGL for 3D graphic processing on web environment. Particularly, the blending technique was used for overlay processing with multiple images. Among available WebGL frameworks, CubicVR.js was adopted, and various blending techniques were provided in the user interface for general users. For the actual application in the study area around the Sejong city, serveral types of geo-based data sets were used and processed: KOMPSAT-2 images, ALOS PALSAR SAR images, and grid data by environment measurements. While, DEM for 3D viewing with these geo-based images was produced using contour information of the digital map sets. This work demonstrates possibilities that new types of contents and service system using geo-based images can be extracted and applied.

Comparison of the Survey of Teaching Demand for Distance Education Support for the 2021 and 2022 Academic Years : For D Community Colleges in Daegu (2021학년도와 2022학년도 원격교육지원에 대한 교수 수요도 조사 비교: 대구지역 D전문대학을 대상으로)

  • In this study, we tried to secure basic data to create an environment necessary for distance learning through a survey on professor demand. Among the 184 full-time faculty members of the university, 73 (39.89%) respondents in 2021 and 87 (47.28%) in 2022 were included. As a result of the research on professor demand, in the 2021 school year, 27 people (37%) were classified as LMS improvement items when checking attendance, 38 people (23.3%) were pin-mics as content development support items, and 26 people (35.6%), 33 people (45.2%) of GOM Mix and 25 people (34.2%) of the distance education support center wanted to learn video editing program as the item of video editing program they are currently using. In the 2022 school year, 27 people (31.03%) said mobile upgrade as an LMS improvement item, 52 people (59.8%) of pin-microphone as a content development support item, 33 people (37.9%), but currently using the content creation intention using a studio. As for the video editing program they are working on, 47 people (54%) of GOM Mix Pro and 23 people (26.4%) of the distance education support center want to learn content creation method. In addition, the intention to produce content using the studio for the 2021 and 2022 academic year and the desired educational topic of the distance education support center in the future appeared insignificant (p > 0.05). In this distance education support center, we are working to solve the class of LMS attendance, upgrade mobile, and plan to distribute pin microphones. We are planning to increase the usability of the studio and provide training on how to use video editing programs and how to create video content. In order for a smooth class to take place in a university distance class, the university authorities should seek ways to support the instructor so that he/she does not have difficulties in performing his/her role as a teaching designer, such as setting learning goals, organizing and organizing content, motivating learning, and establishing effective class participation plans. there is a need

  • The Yeosu Sado dinosaur tracksite is well known for many dinosaur tracks and research on the gregarious behavior of dinosaurs. In addition, various geological and geographical heritage sites are distributed on Sado Island. However, educational field trips for students are very limited due to accessibility according to its geological location, time constraints due to tides, and continuous weathering and damage. Therefore, this study aims to generate 3D models and images of dinosaur tracks using the photogrammetric method, which has recently been used in various fields, and then discuss the possibility of using them as paleontological research and educational contents. As a result of checking the obtained 3D images and models, it was possible to confirm the existence of footprints that were not previously discovered or could not represent details by naked eyes or photos. Even previously discovered tracks could possibly present details using 3D images that could not be expressed by photos or interpretive drawings. In addition, the 3D model of dinosaur tracks can be preserved as semi-permanent data, enabling various forms of utilization and preservation. Here we apply 3D printing and mobile augmented reality content using photogrammetric 3D models for a virtual field trip, and these models acquired by photogrammetry can be used in various educational content fields that require 3D models.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to examine the efficacy and future potential of a newly-emerging concept of a metaverse in online education environment. In order to achieve this goal, this paper showcases various scenes that happened in the metaverse classes using the ifland app. Through an in-depth analysis of theoretical grounds and preliminary survey findings of 32 university students, this study suggests that as students in a metaverse space are engaged in the interactive learning process and environment with an avatar that projects oneself, it can be an effective educational platform coming from the benefits of gamification and edutainment. In addition, a metaverse space provides existential encounters and hands-on experiences, which in turn increases the level of 3D learning immersion. It may overcome the shortcomings of online live streaming platforms such as Zoom or Webex that provide 2D experiences. Based on the findings, this paper further suggests a blueprint for online education suitable for the transition to a digital society.

  • Recently, digitizing technologies for conservation and restoration of tangible intangible cultural properties are coming into spotlight. Because cultural properties are easy to be lost and damaged over the years, After construction of cultural assets database we can reconstruct the cultural asset making use of the reverse engineering when needed, and implement digital contents such as computer graphics, 3D virtural realization, hologram, etc. So in this paper, we scrutinize visual and technical factors occurring in different types of digital restoration of cultural properties, and present problems and improvements, and try to research technological prowess and visual mechanism.

  • Sudden increase exceeding 30million in the number of smart phone users, and rising interest in the technology of augmented reality, is now trying to combine it with AR technology in other areas very much. The field of cultural heritage, which has been constructed by the Internet and 3D technology, is not unusual and this field is now rapidly changing thanks to the AR technology which can make users experience cultural heritage with high reality. The Palaces in Seoul, however, use fragmentary tools of information - lack of heritage commentators, leaflet, etc, even though the number of visitors is gradually increasing. Therefore, three-dimensional and comprehensive cultural heritage information service is needed with the guidance in the mobile era. This study utilizes the AR technology for building the Deoksugung Tourist Information Service Application(App.) applying the markerless-based recognition technology which is a more advanced tool than the location-based AR technology. This new AR technology can switch perceived real images such as the tablet of the King in the Palace of in the real world, patterns and pedestals into virtual world, which can reproduce the damaged cultural assets as 3D. This also composes photos of the past with the current buildings, which can increase people's interest and absorption of the contents, and helps them understand and be aware of Korean traditional culture and cultural heritage effectively. In addition, convergence between IT new technology, Augmented Reality(AR) and humanities through storytelling based implementation of cultural heritage in smart phone is attempted to demonstrate that there is strength in which augmented reality technique exerts infinite creativity based on actual reality world.

  • The goal of this study is to develop a mobile application so that a person who is new to chemistry can easily acquire the knowledge necessary for chemical structure learning using image tracking technology. The point of this study is to provide a new chemical structure learning experience by recognizing a two-dimensional picture, augmenting the chemical structure into a three-dimensional object, showing it on the user's screen, and using a service that simultaneously provides related information in multiple fields. characteristic. Login API and real-time database technology were used for safe and real-time data management, and an application was developed using image tracking technology for image recognition and 3D object augmentation service.   • With the development of transportation and mobiles demand for tourism travel is increasing and related industries are also developing significantly. The combination of augmented reality and tourism contents one of the areas of digital media technology, is also actively being studied, and artificial intelligence is already combined with the tourism industry in various directions, enriching tourists' travel experiences. In this paper, we propose a system that scans miniature models produced by reducing tourist areas, finds the relevant tourist sites based on models learned using deep learning in advance, and provides relevant information and 3D models as AR services. Because model learning and object detection are carried out using YOLOv3 neural networks, one of various deep learning neural networks, object detection can be performed at a fast rate to provide real-time service.
