  • This study tested the effectiveness of commercialized smartphone apps in improving walking activities among college students. 66 participants were randomized into each of four groups that was used different behavior change strategies: monetary rewards app, goal setting and feedback app, gaming app, and self-monitoring control group. 45 participants who completed the experimentation was included in data analysis. Repeated measures ANOVA resulted in statistically significant time by groups interactions in recorded step counts, self-reported completed plans and self-reported walking activities scores. The Goal-setting and feedback group and the gaming group resulted in increase in both step counts and completed plans. The results were discussed in the framework of behaviorism.

  • With the recent increase of the number of mobile game users, the side effects such as the manipulation of game points, levels and game speed and payment fraud are emerging. Especially, the emulators which make it possible for mobile applications to run on PC is a great threat to mobile game security since debugging specific game application or automating the game playing can be done easier with them. Therefore, we research the efficient ways to detect widely used Android Emulators such as BlueStacks, GenyMotion, Andy, YouWave and ARC Welder from the perspective of client(app), game server and network to reduce threat to mobile game security.

  • This study aims to propose instituting the serious games of language-based cognitive enhancement for the BIF children. The program consists of 4 cognitive areas (perception, attention, working memory, knowledge inference) in 4 language dimensions (phoneme, word, sentence, discourse). 16 games of 4 areas/2 dimensions with 3 difficulty levels were implemented in a mobile station and pilot-tested to children including BIFs. The results from the pilot tests supported for the validity and effectiveness of our games: Children's game performance correlated with their IQ scores (overall and sub-areas) revealing significant differences between the groups. The stroop scores in pre-and-post training hinted the increase of children's cognitive control.

  • This study was developed as a mobile serious game app (Roly Poly 160 App) based on a prototype model and then used in a public health center for diabetes patients. The mobile serious game application upgraded the mobile version of Roly Poly 160, which is a content for diabetes self-management of the existing PC version, by requesting to charge service of G city. The study period was from February 19, 2018 to May 11, 2018, and users were allowed to access the Roly Poly 160 app at least once a day for a total of 8 to 12 weeks after the preliminary investigation. As a result, HbA1C was significantly decreased(p=0.04), and diabetic knowledge was significantly higher than that before the follow-up(p=0.01). After applying Roly Poly 160 App, Satisfaction score was 3.74 out of 5 points

  • Distribution of malicious applications developed by attackers is increasing along with general normal applications due to the openness of the Android-based open market. Mechanism that allows more accurate ways to distinguish normal apps and malicious apps for common mobile devices should be developed in order to reduce the damage caused by the rampant malicious applications. This paper analysed the normal event pattern from the most highly used game apps in the Android open market to analyse the event pattern from normal apps and malicious apps of mobile devices that are based on the Android platform, and analysed the malicious event pattern from the malicious apps and the disguising malicious apps in the form of a game app among 1260 malware samples distributed by Android MalGenome Project. As described, experiment that extracts normal app and malicious app events was performed using Strace, the Linux-based system call extraction tool, targeting normal apps and malicious apps on Android-based mobile devices. Relevance analysis for each event set was performed on collected events that occurred when normal apps and malicious apps were running. This paper successfully extracted event similarity through this process of analyzing the event occurrence characteristics, pattern and distribution on each set of normal apps and malicious apps, and lastly suggested a mechanism that determines whether any given app is malicious.

Three scenarios have been developed to achieve the objectives of this study. This suggests the situation of in-app payment problem that consumers often experience. Then 323 consumers in their 20s and 30s read the scenario, identified the problem in each situation and assessed who was responsible. Consumers were aware of in-app payment problems due to problems with in-app payment readability, problems with app market responsibility, problems with responsibility of game companies, and problems of consumer responsibility. And different consumers had different levels of assessment on the problem of in-app payment. According to the research, consumers have high demand for improvement of the lack of readability in related laws, including strengthening the readability of the in-app payment indicator. In addition, the company confirmed the importance of cooperative efforts by consumers, businesses, and the government due to high consumer expectations for the role of the distribution company App Market other than the content developer game company.

  • Many game and financial apps have emulator detection functionality to defend against dynamic reverse engineering attacks. However, existing Android emulator detection methods have limitations in detecting the latest mobile game emulators that are similar to actual devices. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method to effectively detect Android emulators for mobile games based on Houdini module and strings of a library. The proposed method detects the two emulators, Nox and LD Player through specific strings included in libc.so of bionic, and an analysis of the system call execution process and memory mapping associated with the Houdini module.

However, most studies on smartphone and mobile apps are focusing on the technology acceptance and improvement of function. So, this study is to suggest promotion strategy to each mobile apps, analyzed through three phases. First phase is the frequency analysis that deduct most frequently used mobile apps. Second phase is association rules that found to associate between mobile apps. Finally, to analyze deduction techniques for acquired 5 mobile apps to target variable in pre-2 phase use total 35 variables of 20 mobile apps categories, demographic variables, amount of PC, movie, music, book, game usage and fees per month.
