Development of Multi-Camera based Mobile Mapping System for HD Map Production (정밀지도 구축을 위한 다중카메라기반 모바일매핑시스템 개발)

  • This study aims to develop a multi-camera based MMS (Mobile Mapping System) technology for building a HD (High Definition) map for autonomous driving and for quick update. To replace expensive lidar sensors and reduce long processing times, we intend to develop a low-cost and efficient MMS by applying multiple cameras and real-time data pre-processing. To this end, multi-camera storage technology development, multi-camera time synchronization technology development, and MMS prototype development were performed. We developed a storage module for real-time JPG compression of high-speed images acquired from multiple cameras, and developed an event signal and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) time server-based synchronization method to record the exposure time multiple images taken in real time. And based on the requirements of each sector, MMS was designed and prototypes were produced. Finally, to verify the performance of the manufactured multi-camera-based MMS, data were acquired from an actual 1,000 km road and quantitative evaluation was performed. As a result of the evaluation, the time synchronization performance was less than 1/1000 second, and the position accuracy of the point cloud obtained through SFM (Structure from Motion) image processing was around 5 cm. Through the evaluation results, it was found that the multi-camera based MMS technology developed in this study showed the performance that satisfies the criteria for building a HD map.

Multisensory based AR System for Education of Cultural Heritage

  • In this paper, we propose a multisensory(i.e., visual-auditory-tactile) based AR system for the education of cultural heritage. The proposed system provides a multisensory interaction by designing a user to experience with a 3D printed artifact which is mapped by a virtual 3D content of digital heritage. Compared with the existing systems of cultural heritage education based on augmented reality(AR) technology, this system focused on not only providing learning experience via a sense of visual and auditory, but also a sense of tactile. Furthermore, since this systems mainly provided the direct interactions using a 3D printed model, it gives a higher degree of realism than existing system that use touch or click motions on a 2D display of mobile phones and tablets. According to a result of user testing, we concluded that the proposed system delivered the excellent presence and learning flow to users. Particularly, from the usability evaluation, a 3D printed target artifact which is similar in shape to original heritage artifact, achieved the highest scores among the various tested targets.

  • geoContents have been closely related with personal life since the Google Earth and Street View by Google and the Road View by Daum were introduced. So, Location-based content, which is referred to geoContents, involving geometric spacial information and location-based image information is a sharp rise in demand. A mobile mapping system used in the area of map upgrade and road facility management has been having difficulties in satisfying the demand in the cost and time for obtaining these kinds of contents. This paper addresses geoData acquisition and processing system for producing panoramic images. The system consists of 3 devices: the first device is 3 GPS receivers for acquiring location information which is including position, attitude, orientation, and time. The second is 6 cameras for image information. And the last is to synchronize the both data. The geoData acquired by the proposed system and the method for authoring geoContents which are referred to a panoramic image with position, altitude, and orientation will be used as an effective way for establishing the various location-based content and providing them service area.

An Audit Model for Information Protection in Smartwork (스마트워크 기반의 정보보호 감리 모형)

  • Smartwork technology, using teleworking, smartwork centers and mobile terminal, provides a flexible work environments without constraints of time and space. Smartwork system to increase the work efficiency has the information protection threats according to their convenience. Thus, in order to build smartwork, it is proper to provide information protection audit to help ensure the information protection. In this paper, we have proposed an infortaion protection audit model at the practical and technical level for building a smartwork environment. We were classified as a terminal, network and server area for information protection, and derived a professional information protection check items. Further, by establishing a smartwork information protection audit time to map ISMS control items, we have proposed an audit model so that it is possible to improve the security and efficiency. It also verified whether the proposed model is suitable or not by doing a survey if deduced audit domain and check items correspond with the purpose of the smartwork information protection audit to auditors and IT specialists. As the result, this study was 97% satisfaction out of 13 check items.

  • In this paper, we discuss the implementation and experimentations of a new future Internet architecture for mobile-oriented environments, named Mobile Oriented Future Internet (MOFI). The MOFI architecture is featured by the host identifier and local locator for identifier-locator separation, Query-First Data Delivery (QFDD), and Distributed Mapping System (DMS) for identifier-locator mapping control. In the existing study on MOFI, we examined the intra-domain mobility control, the implementation of MOFI over Linux platform, and the performance analysis over the small-scale testbed. In this paper, we describe how to implement the MOFI architecture for inter-domain mobility control by using the OpenFlow and Click Modular Router platform. From the experimentations over the KOREN testbed, we can see that the MOFI scheme can give better performance than the existing Proxy Mobile IP scheme.

  • 우리나라에서는 1995년부터 국가지리정보체계(NGIS)구축 기본계획을 수립하여 건설교통부, 정보통신부, 과학기술부 및 행정자치부 등 범국가적으로 2000년까지 제 1단계 사업을 마쳤으며, 2001년부터 제 2단계 사업을 추진 중에 있다. 하지만 국가지형 및 시설물 등이 하루가 다르게 변화하는 정보화 사회에서 다양한 객체에 대한 위치 및 속성정보의 획득, 저장, 관리, 활용을 위한 신속한 수치지도 수정갱신이 요구된다. 또한 도로시설물을 비롯한 다양한 지형지물정보는 공간정보를 다루는 도시, 교통, 물류, 환경 및 군사 분야 등 다양한 분야에서 의사결정 및 계획에 필수적으로 요구되는 정보이고 이와 같은 정보는 신속하고 정확하게 취득되어야 하며, 경제적이며, 효율적으로 정보를 획득하는 신기술을 적용한 작업방법론이 필요하다. 현재 국내에서도 신기술인 "차량탑재 모바일매핑 시스템(Mobile Mapping System : GPS-Van) 개발이 완료되었고, 이를 활용한 각종 지형공간정보의 수정 갱신 작업이 이루어지고 있기 때문에 이를 활용한 수치지도 수정갱신의 가능성에 대한 검토와 방법론에 대한 정립이 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국내에서 개발된 신기술인 GPS-Van을 이용한 수치지도 수정갱신을 위한 정확도 분석 및 오차의 영향 분석을 통하여 보다 높은 정밀도의 도로기반 수치지도 수정 갱신의 가능성 및 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

A Study on 3D Indoor mapping for as-built BIM creation by using Graph-based SLAM (준공 BIM 구축을 위한 Graph-based SLAM 기반의 실내공간 3차원 지도화 연구)

  • In Korea, the absence of BIM use in existing civil structures and buildings is driving a demand for as-built BIM. As-built BIMs are often created using laser scanners that provide dense 3D point cloud data. Conventional static laser scanning approaches often suffer from limitations in their operability due to the difficulties in moving the equipment, the selection of scanning location, and the requirement of placing targets or extracting tie points for registration of each scanned point cloud. This paper aims at reducing the manual effort using a kinematic 3D laser scanning system based on graph-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) for continuous indoor mapping. The robotic platform carries three 2D laser scanners: the front scanner is mounted horizontally to compute the robot's trajectory and to build the SLAM graph; the other two scanners are mounted vertically to scan the profiles of surrounding environments. To reduce the accumulated error in the trajectory of the platform through loop closures, the graph-based SLAM system incorporates AdaBoost loop closure approach, which is particularly suitable for the developed multi-scanner system providing more features than the single-scanner system for training. We implemented the proposed method and evaluated it in two indoor test sites. Our experimental results show that the false positive rate was reduced by 13.6% and 7.9% for the two dataset. Finally, the 2D and 3D mapping results of the two test sites confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed graph-based SLAM.

Infrastructure Health Monitoring and Economic Analysis for Road Asset Management : Focused on Sejong City (도로 자산관리를 위한 상태 모니터링 및 경제성 분석 : 세종시를 중심으로)

  • In this study, a novel method for monitoring road pavements using the Mobile Mapping System (MMS) and a deep learning crack detection system was presented. Furthermore, an optimal maintenance method through economic analysis was presented targeting the pavement section of Sejong City. As a result of monitoring the pavement conditions, it was confirmed that the pavement ratings were good in the order of national highways, municipal roads, and roads of provinces. In addition, economic analysis using the pavement deterioration model showed that micro-surfacing, one of the preventive maintenance methods, is the most economical in terms of maintenance costs and user benefits. The results of this study are expected to be used as fundamental reference for local governments' infrastructure management plans.

A Study for Removing Road Shields from Mobile Mapping System of the Laser Data using RTF Filtering Techniques (RTF 필터링을 이용한 모바일매핑시스템 레이저 데이터의 도로 장애물 제거에 관한 연구)

  • It is a global trend to give attention to generating precise 3D navigation maps since eco-friendly vehicles have become a critical issue due to environmental protection and depletion of fossil fuels. To date, Mobile Mapping System (MMS) has been a efficient method to acquire the data for generating the 3D navigation maps. To achieve this goal so far in the Mobile Mapping System using the data acquisition method has been proposed to be most effective. For this study the basic RTF filter algorithm was applied to modify to fit MMS quantitative analysis derived floor 99.71%, 99.95% of the highly non-producers to maintain accuracy and high-precision 3D road could create DEM. In addition, the roads that exist within the cars, roadside tree, road cars, such as the median strips have been removed to shields it takes to get results effectively, and effective in practical applications and can be expected to improve operational efficiency is considered.

Artificial Intelligence Based LOS Determination for the Cyclists-Pedestrians Mixed Road Using Mobile Mapping System (인공지능 기반 MMS를 활용한 자전거보행자겸용도로 서비스 수준 산정)

  • Recently, the importance of monitoring and management measures for bicycle road related facilities has been increasing. However, research on the monitoring and evaluation of users' safety and convenience in walking spaces including bicycle path is insufficient. In this study, we would like to construct health monitoring data for cylists-pedestrians mixed road using a mobile mapping system, and propose a plan to calculate the level of service of the mixed roads from the perspective of pedestrians and cyclists using artificial intelligence based object detection techniques. The monitoring and level of service calculation method of cylists-pedestrians mixed roads proposed in this study is expected to be used as basic information for planning and management such as maintenance and reconstruction of walking spaces in preparation for the increase of electric bicycles and personal mobility in the future.
