The Constant Output Power Control of SSRT FB DC-DC Converter by an Improved Phase-shift Control (개선된 위상 천이 제어에 의한 소프트 스위칭 공진형 FB DC-DC 컨버터의 정출력 제어)

  • This paper deals with a control strategy for constant output power of SSRT(Soft Switching Resonant Type) FB(Full Bridge) DC-DC converter by an improved phase shift controller. When the FB DC-DC converter for the high density and the high effect control is operated in high speed switching, the switching loss and switching stress of the switching devices are increased. So, the soft switching method, which has the phase shift control with the digital I-PD controller, must be use in order to reduce its. And the output voltage that controlled by the digital I-PD controller tracks a reference without steady state error in variable input voltage. The validity of control strategy that proposed is verified from simulation results and experimental results by the DSP(TMS320C32).

Telemetry Data Downlink Management of Low Earth Orbit Satellite (저궤도위성 원격측정 데이터 다운링크 관리)

  • Because LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite has very limited contact time between satellite and ground station, all telemetry data generated on satellite are stored in a mass memory and transmitted to the ground during the contact time. There are two downlink modes, real-time mode and playback mode. Only real-time data frames are transmitted to the ground in real-time mode, real-time and playback data frames stored into mass memory are transmitted to the ground in playback mode. In accordance with the data transmission rate, there are two downlink rates, low downlink rate and high downlink rate. This paper briefly introduces downlink interfaces and flight software of a LEO satellite developed in KARI. And it presents the telemetry storage method, real-time and playback downlink management method, and downlink channel and rate control method.

A Ka-band 10 W Power Amplifier Module utilizing Pulse Timing Control (펄스 타이밍 제어를 활용한 Ka-대역 10 W 전력증폭기 모듈)

  • In this paper, a Ka-band 10 W power amplifier module with seven power MMIC bare dies is designed and fabricated using MIC technology which combines multiple MMIC chips on a thin film substrate. Modified Wilkinson power dividers/combiners and CBFGCPW-Microstrip transitions for suppressing resonance and reducing connection loss are utilized for high-gain and high-power millimeter wave modules. A new TTL pulse timing control scheme is proposed to improve output power degradation due to large bypass capacitors in the gate bias circuit. Pulse-mode operation time is extended more than 200 nsec and output power increase of 0.62 W is achieved by applying the proposed scheme to the Ka-band 10 W power amplifier module operating in the pulsed condition of 10 kHz and $5\;{\mu}sec$. The implemented power amplifier module shows a power gain of 59.5 dB and an output power of 11.89 W.

Effective Design of the Broadband Horn Antenna Using Multi-mode Network Analysis (다중모드 회로망 분석을 이용한 광대역 혼 안테나의 효율적인 설계)

  • This paper proposes the effective design procedure for a broadband, double-ridged horn antenna for evaluating the performance of the RF energy harvesting system with a multi-band rectenna. Using multi-mode network analysis, the higher-mode scattering parameters of the transition and horn were acquired and applied to the antenna design, respectively. As a result, the computing time could be reduced and the calculated VSWR(voltage standing wave ratio) of the antenna was very similar to the analyzed result using fully electromagnetic simulation. And there was also good agreement between the simulated and measured results. The designed broadband antenna has a bandwidth of 660~6360 MHz and 6~13.7 dBi peak radiation gain.

  • The next generation LID satellite has 64KB PROM which contains the boot loader and the monitor software, and two 4MB NVMEMs which are used for flight software storage. The boot loader has two operation modes which are the flight software mode and the monitor mode. In the flight software mode, it checks CRC checksum of selected NVMEM and copies flight software image from NVMEM to RAM And then it starts VxWorks RTOS in RAM, creates flight software tasks, and starts execution of flight software. In the monitor mode, it activates monitor software which performs NVMEM reprogramming and board-level testing on the ground. This paper is to present the design of Boot ROM software and verification method using simulator.

  • Fiber-reinforced composite materials due to their high specific strength, high stiffness and light weight are becoming increasingly used in many engineering industry, especially in the aerospace, marin and civil, etc. In this paper, the buckling load and mode shapes of composite laminates with elliptical cross-section including transverse shear deformations are analyzed. For solving this problems, a versatile flat shell element has been developed by combining a membrane element with drilling degree-of-freedom and a plate bending element. Also, an improved shell element has been established by the combined use of the addition of enhanced assumed strain and the substitute shear strain fields. The combined influence of shell geometry and elliptical cross-sectional parameter, fiber angle, and lay-up on the buckling loads of elliptical cylinder is examined. The critical buckling loads and mode shapes analyzed here may serve as a benchmark for future investigations.

  • The connection between the continuousness of Rabi oscillation and the discontinuity of quantum jumps has long remained one of the conceptual difficulties since the discovery of the quantum physical paradigm. In this study, however, we demonstrate that the behavior of the atom-field composite system gradually changes from the continuous Rabi interaction to the discontinuous quantum jumps as the atom-field coupling strength is reduced. The reduction occurs through enlarging the quantization volume of the mode so that the mode approaches one of the infinitely many modes of the thermal background.

  • For the DC-free encoding of source data, the Guided Scrambling (GS) technique is widely used as multi-mode coding in the optical data storage system. For DC-suppression GS coding in the holographic data storage system, the conservative array and balanced coding criteria are proposed. In this paper, equivalent integer programming models are developed to determine the optimal control bits for the minimum digital sum value (MDSV), conservative array, and balanced coding criteria. Using the proposed integer programming models, we compare the performance of GS encoding for the various combination of control bit/array sizes and scrambling polynomials.

  • Circular Bragg gratings(CBGs) canbe incorporated in most of the semiconductor laser devices because of the frequency-selective property applicable as an optical narrowband-pass filter in DWDM optical communications. In this paper, the optical filtering characteristics of CBGs are evaluated by a novel and simple analytic modal transmission-line theory(MTLT), which is based on Floquet-Babinet's principle. The numerical results reveal that this method offers a simple and convenient algorithm to analyze the filtering characteristics of CBGs as well as is extended conveniently to evaluate the guiding problems of circular multi-layered periodic structures.

Design of Broadband Corrugated Waveguide Polarizer (광대역 커러게이트 도파관 편파기 설계)

  • In this paper, the design theory of the corrugated polarizer using square waveguide is proposed. In order to analysis the characteristic of square waveguide discontinuity as well as achievement of the low VSWR, we apply the modified $TE^\chi_mn$ mode matching method and the corrugated exponential function to the polarizer design. The results show a broadband characteristic that phase shift angle is nearly appeared $90^{\circ}$ in the range of 11.7-15.8GHz. Especially, we could be designed the Ku-band dual polarizer for the satellite broadcasting transponder with 300MHz bandwidth. Its phase shift angle and maximum VSWR, axial ratio are $90^{\circ},\pm1^{\circ}$, 1.03, and 1.0001 in the range of 11.7-12.0GHz and 14.5-14.8GHz, respectively.
