Design and Implementation of a Virtual Robot Education System (가상 로봇 교육 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • Virtual Robot Education System (VRES), which is for programming education with a Lego Mindstorm NXT robot, is designed and implemented. Through this system, program learners can edit source code, compile, download it into the robot, and run their executive program. In order to observe it, the system includes web cameras and provide monitoring services. Thus, students are able to verify the operation of robot into which they download their program in detail and to debug if necessary. In addition, we design a new simple user-friendly programming language and a corresponding compiler for it. With those tools, learner can more easily create programs for NXT robot and test them than Java language. A educator can control and manage the robot for the subject of a class with direct control mode of our system. Therefore, the proposed system is able to support students to learn robot programming during or after regular classes with web browsers through Internet.

Calorie Expenditure Prediction Model of Elderly Living Alone using Motion Sensors for LBS Applications (LBS 응용을 위해 움직임 센서를 이용한 독거노인의 칼로리 소모 예측 모델)

  • This paper presents calorie expenditure prediction model of daily activity of elderly living alone for LBS(Location Based Service) applications. The proposed method is to describe the daily activity patterns of older adult using PIR (Passive InfraRed) motion sensors and to examine the relationships between physical activity and calorie expenditure. The developed motion detecting system is composed of a sensing system and a server system. The motion detecting system is a set of wireless sensor nodes which has PIR sensor to detect a motion of elder. Each sensing node sends its detection signal to a home gateway via wireless link. The home gateway stores the received signals into a remote database. The server system is composed of a database server and a web server, which provides web-based monitoring system to caregivers for more effective services. The experiment results show the adaptability and feasibility of the calorie expenditure model.

  • As the logistic environment of digital contents is rapidly changing, the protection of the digital rights for digital content has been recognized as one of critical Issues. Digital Right Management(DRM) has taken much interest Internet Service Provider(ISP), authors and publishers of digital content as an interested approach to create a trusted environment for access and use of digital resources. This paper propose an interested digital rights protection scheme using license agent to address problems facing contemporary DRM approached : static digital rights management, and limited application to on-line environment. We introduce a dynamic mission control technology to realize dynamic digital rights management. And we incorporate license agent to on- and off-line monitoring and tracking. The proposed system prevent illegal access and use by using PKI security method, real time action monitoring for user, data security for itself.

  • Server consolidation by sever virtualization can make one physical machine(PM) to run several virtual machines simultaneously. Although It is attractive in cost, it has complex workload behaviors. For that reason, efficient resource management method is required. Dynamic relocation of virtual machine(VM)[3,4] by live migration[1,2] is one of resource management methods. We proposed SCOA(Server Consolidation Optimizing Algorithm) : a fine-grained load balancing mechanism worked on this dynamic relocation mechanism. We could obtain accurate resource distribution information through pointed physical machines on multi dimensional resource usage coordination, so we could maintain more balanced resource state. In this paper, we show the effectiveness of our algorithm by comparison of experimental results between SCOA and sandpiper[3] by software simulation.

  • The traffic classification is a preliminary but essentialstep for stable network service provision and efficient network resource management. While various classification methods have been introduced in literature, the payload signature-based classification is accepted to give the highest performance in terms of accuracy, completeness, and practicality. However, the collection and maintenance of up-to-date signatures is very difficult and time consuming process to cope with the dynamics of Internet traffic over time. In this paper, We propose an automatic payload signature generation mechanism which reduces the time for signature generation and increases the granularity of signatures. Furthermore, We describe a signature update system to keep the latest signatures over time. By experiments with our campus network traffic we proved the feasibility of our mechanism.

  • With the increasing popularity of the wireless network, the vulnerability issue on IEEE 802.1x Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) are more serious than we expected. Security issues range from mis-configured wireless Access Point(AP) such as session hijacking to Denial of Service(DoS) attack. We propose a new system based on intrusion detection or prevention mechanism to protect the wireless network against these attacks. The proposed system has a security solution on AP that includes an intrusion detection and protection system(IDS/IPS) as an embedded module. In this paper, we suggest integrated wireless IDS/IPS module on AP with wireless traffic monitoring, analysis and packet filtering module against malicious wireless attacks. We also present that the system provides both enhanced security and performance such as on the university wireless campus network.

  • The emerging of ubiquitous computing and healthcare technologies provides us a strong platform to build sustainable healthcare applications especially those that require real-time information related to personal healthcare regardless of place. We realize that system stability, reliability and data protection are also important requirements for u-healthcare services. Therefore, in this paper, we designed a u-healthcare system which can be attached to the patient's body to measure vital signals, enhanced with USN secure sensor module. Our proposed u-healthcare system is using wireless sensor modules embedded with NLM-128 algorithm. In addition, PS-LFSR technique is applied to the NLM-128 algorithm to enable faster and more efficient computation. We included some performance statistical results in term of CPU cycles spent on NLM-128 algorithm with and without the PS-LFSR optimization for performance evaluation.

  • Recently, the need of researches and developments about WSN(Wireless Sensor Network) technologies, which can be applied to services that require continuous monitoring or services to specific areas where accesses are limited, has gradually increased due to their expansion of application areas and the improvement of the efficiency. Especially, in the defense field, researches on the latest IT technologies including sensor network areas are actively conducted as an alternative to avoid the risk factors that can be occurred when personnel are put in, such as boundary and surveillance reconnaissance and to utilize personnel efficiently. In this paper, we analyze the conditions for increasing the life span of sensing nodes that make up sensor network by applying clustering and location-based techniques and derived the factors for extending the life span of them. The derived factors include CH(Cluster Head) election scheme and optimal path selection from CH to BS(Base Station). We proposed final scheme using derived factors and verified it through simulation experiments.

  • In this paper, we propose smart digital door lock system using heterogeneous communication. This system has efficient function using RF communication and Internet communication, and realizes access and real image of the passengers by combining camera control technology to secure original competitiveness with existing products. It uses the Internet of things and receive images to and from your smart-phone. And senses human behavior. In the simulated results, the image transmission rate of 90 % or more and the time required to transmit 10,000 images have an average transmission speed of 3 seconds. It is expected to secure competitiveness to increase the security of door lock in the future by enabling minimum security and fire monitoring service in real time.

  • Big data is an important keyword in World's Fourth Industrial Revolution in public and private division including IoT(Internet of Things), AI(Artificial Intelligence) and Cloud system in the fields of science, technology, industry and society. Big data based on services are available in various fields such as transportation, weather, medical care, and marketing. In particular, in the field of sports, various types of bio-signals can be collected and managed by the appearance of a wearable device that can measure vital signs in training or rehabilitation for daily life rather than a hospital or a rehabilitation center. However, research on big data with vital signs from wearable devices for training and rehabilitation for baseball players have not yet been stimulated. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a system for baseball infield and outfield players, especially which can store and analyze the momentum measurement vital signals based on big data.
