  • The vertical pressure due to soil prism load and surface surcharge load acts on buried pipe, and occasionally uplifting force due to earthquake or differential settlement acts on it. In this paper, study was performed to estimate the pressure acting on the buried pipe due to soil prism load through analyzing Marston-Spangler theory by new method. And loading tests on the buried flexible pipe were performed to study on the response of the pipe due to surface surcharge load. Also, through the estimation of uplifting resistance theory and uplifting test for buried pipe, the method to determine the maximum uplifting resistance of buried pipe was proposed.

  • A tumorous wood formed in a stem of Robinia pseudoacacia L. by steel wire fastening was investigated and compared with normal wood in the anatomy of histological aspect. The tumorous wood appeared to differ from normal wood in irregular orientations of some pores, most wood fibers, and rays deviated from normal direction, somewhat radially elongated pores on cross surface, occasionally distorted wood fiber tips between rays on radial surface, large ray width and height, commonly entangled arrangement of wood fibers on radial surface, frequent occurrence of pore multiples in the latewood, frequent occurrence of gelatinous fibers, and dark gummy substances partially enclosed in the lumina of wood fibers, rays, and axial strand parenchymas.

  • Ohmic joule heating electrodes were developed for the electrical heater of the floor of a room. A composite slurry of super pure black and polyvinylidene fluoride with/without the additives of multi-walled carbon nanotube or kindney stone powder was coated as a thin film on the polyethylene terephthalate film. The performances of heating electrodes were evaluated checking specific conductivity, adhesion strength and hardness. The addition of kindney stone powder increases specific resistance and hardness in a small extent. However, the addition of carbon nanotube increases specific conductivity and hardness. The properties of various compositions of ohmic joule heating electrodes were evaluated.

  • To prevent the low heating effect of heating system caused by the high sheet resistance of CVD graphene, multi-layered graphene was laminated to implement a Transparent plane heating system with good optical properties of low-resistance. Low-resistance plane heating system implemented by $300{\times}400{\times}5mm$ heating plane laminated multi-layered CVD graphene film and PWM control system to drive efficient power. A plane resistance value of $85.5{\Omega}/sq$ was measured on average for 4-layer CVD graphene film used as a heating plane. Thus, the transfer by thermal film as the method of implementing low-resistance CVD graphene is reasonable. The experimental results of heat test show that an average heat-rise rate in low-resistance, transperent plane heating system using CVD graphene is $10^{\circ}C/min$ and has an optical transmittance rate of 86.44%. Therefore, the proposed heating system is applicable to large window glass and vehicle heating window-shild-glass.

  • In this work, phenolic resins containing conductive carbon fillers, such as, petroleum coke, carbon black, and graphite, were used to improve the surface heating elements by impregnating a pitch-based carbon paper. The influence of conductive carbon fillers on physicochemical properties of the carbon paper was investigated through electrical resistance measurement and thermal analysis. As a result, the surface resistance and interfacial contact resistivity of the carbon paper were decreased linearly by impregnating the carbon fillers with phenol resins. The increase of carbon filler contents led to the improvement of electrical and thermal conductivity of the carbon paper. Also, the heating characteristics of the surface heating element were examined through the applied voltage of 1~5 V. With the applied voltage, it was confirmed that the surface heating element exhibited a maximum heating characteristic of about $125.01^{\circ}C$(5 V). These results were attributed to the formation of electrical networks by filled micropore between the carbon fibers, which led to the improvement of electrical and thermal properties of the carbon paper.

  • In this paper, we manufactured silsesquiaznae (SSQZ)-coated carbon nanotube (CNT) surface heating elements, which allowed stable heating at high temperatures. The prepared composite sheet was confirmed by FE-SEM that the SSQZ fully coated the surface of CNT sheet. Furthermore, it was also confirmed that the silicon carbonitride (SiCN) ceramic formed by heat treatment of 800℃ have no defects found and maintain intact structure. The CNT/SiCN composite sheet was able to achieve higher thermal stability than raw CNT sheets in both nitrogen and air atmosphere. Finally, the CNT/SiCN composite sheet was possible to heat up at a temperature of over 700℃ in the atmosphere, and the re-heating was successfully operated after cooling.
