디지털 방송 환경에서 메타데이터 서비스가 가장 주목 받고 있는 기술 중 하나이다. 그리고 컨텐트의 주요 장면만을 나타내는 하이라이트 메타데이터 서비스가 가장 혁신적이다. 계층 구조화된 하이라이트 메타데이터는 시청자가 다양한 관점(viewpoint)에서 방송을 시청할 수 있으며, 스포츠 경기의 하이라이트 장면만 선택적으로 볼 수 있는 서비스를 제공 한다. 하이라이트 메타데이터 서비스를 제공 하기 위해서는 실시간 하이라이트 메타데이터를 생성 하는 기법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 하이라이트 메타 데이터를 생성할 수 있는 두 가지 색인 단계를 정의하고, 시청자의 STB(Set-top Box) 저장된 디지털 스트림과 방송시간과의 동기화 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 하이라이트 정보를 MPEG-7 표준 스키마의 xml로 서술방법을 제안한다.

This paper proposes an XML based Multimedia Annotation and Retrieval System, which can represent and retrieve video data efficiently using XML. The system provides a graphical user interface for annotating, searching, and browsing multimedia data. It is Implemented based on the hierarchical metadata model to represent multimedia information. The metadata about video is organized based on multimedia description schema using XML Schema that basically conforms to the MPEG-7 standard. Also, for the effective indexing and retrieval of multimedia data, video segments are annotated and categorized using the closed caption.

XML을 기반으로 하는 가상문서는 다양한 데이터의 공유를 가능하게 하여 새로운 지식을 생성할 수 있도록 한다. 가상 문서를 지원하는 디지털 도서관 시스템에서 질의 링크는 인터넷 상의 정형데이터 공유를 가능하게 한다. 본 연구에서는 질의링크를 포함하는 XML- 기반 가상문서를 효과적으로 생성하기 위해 질의링크 생성기와 스키마 처리기를 설계하고 구현하였으며 이를 지원하기 위해 디지털 도서관 시스템과 가상문서 저작시스템에서 서비스 관리기, 메타 검색기, 데이터베이스 관리기와 저작도구를 확장하였다.

클래스정보에 대한 속성의 추출 및 분류에서 주로 추출된 클래스의 정보가 단지 원시코드의 코멘트에서 추출되었기 때문에 클래스에 대한 정확한 기능 및 용도에 대한 Document가 부족하여 실제로 이용자가 최적의 부분을 추출하기가 어려웠다. 이러한 것들을 향상시키기 위하여 본 연구에서는 객체에 대한 클래스뿐만 아니라 패턴모델의 설계에서도 객체지향모델링 방법을 이용하여 메타모델과 메타데이터를 설계하였다. 그리고 XMI 메타모델로 정의된 디자인패턴의 세부적인 클래스의 메타데이터의 생성에 중점을 두었으며, 마크업언어로 XML-스키마 형식을 이용하여 심플타입(simple type)과 콤플렉스타입(complex type)으로 분류하였다. 그 결과 메타데이터 엘리먼트 단위영역별로 마크업언어를 생성하여 소프트웨어 설계에서 효과적인 재사용을 할 수 있었다.

For long-term preservation of electronic records, the information on the whole processes of management from the time of creation of the electronic information should be captured and managed together. Such information is supported by preservation metadata thus the implementation of preservation metadata is important for preservation of electronic records maintaining the record-ness. Preservation metadata is the information that supports the process of digital preservation and functions th maintain long-term viability, renderability, understandability, authenticity and identity of digital resources. Preservation metadata should be developed applying the international standard Reference Model for an Open Archival Information System(OAIS) to have international interoperability for exchange and reuse. Initial international preservation metadata schemas were developed standardizing the OAIS Reference Model. But the preservation metadata schema of Victorian Electronic Records Strategy(VERS) and recently published Data Dictionary of PREMIS Working Group were developed in advanced types that are different from the existing framework. Those were advanced th practical ones from conceptual one. Comparing these two cases, proposed the elements of integral preservation metadata for long-term preservation of electronic records. This thesis has the significance that it has suggested the direction for future development of the elements of preservation metadata by setting the past discussions related to preservation metadata in order and proposing integral preservation metadata elements for long-term preservation of electronic records.

This paper deals with how to operate the metadata for agricultural and livestock food product through the GS1 Source which is a GS1 standard metadata service. We defines GS1 standard identifiers for identifying food product and explain the guidelines for the methods how to document with GS1 standard schema and how to query the metadata in the storage of GS1 Source.

시맨틱 웹은 현재 웹의 확장된 개념으로 사람뿐만 아니라 컴퓨터 스스로가 데이터를 이해하고 처리할 수 있도록 정보에 의미를 부여하는 것이다. 시맨틱 웹 데이터를 기술하는 RDF를 통해 메타데이터를 표현하고 의미론적 추론이 가능하게 되었다. 따라서 기존에 일반 사용자가 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 키워드 검색 방법을 시맨틱 웹 데이터인 RDF/RDF 스키마에 적용함으로써 차세대 웹으로 인식되고 있는 시맨틱 웹을 일반 사용자도 쉽게 활용할 수 있도록 한다. 본 논문에서는 RDF 문서의 효율적인 검색을 위해 RDF 인스턴스와 RDF 스키마 정보를 저장하고, 키워드, 속성, 클래스 타입의 복합 조건 검색을 만족시키는 키워드 인덱스와 스키마 테이블 구조를 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 구조는 다양한 조건들을 만족하는 리소스 정보의 빠르고 정확한 검색이 가능하도록 한다.

This paper describes the major components of ISO/IEC 11179 metadata registry (MDR) standard designed to promote data interoperability between systems, explains and discusses semantic web technology and Web ontology languages initiated by W3C that can be employed to further enhance data interoperability, and finally proposes a framework for a new RDF/OWL-based MDR to convert from the current human-readable MDR to machine-readable MDR. If the new MDR is successful, we might be able to offer a better customized information service to users. The future research will be concerned with evaluating objectively the effectiveness of machine-readable MDR in meeting the needs of real users.

본 연구에서는 원격탐사 데이터베이스를 구축하기 위한 요구사항들을 분석하고, 원격탐사 자료의 메타 데이터 스키마를 설계하고 이를 구현한다. 특히, 현행 지형 공간 표준화 스펙을 따르는 자료구조가 연구되고, OMEGA(Object Management systEem for Geo-Spatial Applications) 객체지향 데이터베이스 관리시스템을 사용하여 SAIF(Spatial Archive and Interchange Format)를 기반으로 한 스키마 구현에 관해 기술한다. 이 연구는 차세대 데이터베이스 기술(예를 들면, 복잡한 데이터 타입 지원, 병렬처리, 사용자 편의성 인터페이스, 그리고 웹(Web) 데이터베이스 기술)에 대한 사전 기초 연구로써 실험적인 대용량 데이터베이스를 구축하기 위하여 수행되어 졌다.
