In this paper, we propose a new sequential message-passing decoding algorithm of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes by partitioning check nodes. This new decoding algorithm shows better bit error rate(BER) performance than that of the conventional message-passing decoding algorithm, especially for small number of iterations. Analytical results tell us that as the number of partitioned subsets of check nodes increases, the BER performance becomes better. We also derive the recursive equations for mean values of messages at variable nodes by using density evolution with Gaussian approximation. Simulation results also confirm the analytical results.
In a receiver-initiated load redistribution algorithm, receiver(underloaded processor) continues to send unnecessary request messages for load transfer until a sender(overloaded processor) is found while the system load is light, Therefore, it yields many problems such as low cpu utilization and system throughput because of inefficient inter-processor communications until the receiver receives an accept message from the sender in this environment. This paper presents an approach based on genetic algorithm(GA) for dynamic load redistribution in heterogeneous distributed systems. In this scheme the processors to which the requests are sent off are determined by the proposed GA to decrease unnecessary request messages. The performance of proposed algorithm shows better than that of the conventional algorithm through various experiments.
Vehicle safety service can be effectively achieved with inter-vehicle communication technologies, in which moving vehicles transmit a safety related urgency information such as traffic accidents, sudden stops, obstacle appearance etc. They usually utilize a broadcast of message propagation method because the communicating vehicles are not known each other. The pure broadcasting scheme does not satisfy the requirements of vehicle safety communication service due to the transmission delay with frequent message collisions. To resolve this problem, this paper presents a group based propagation method for the multi-hop transmission, in order to deliver an urgency message to the reasonable size of vehicle troop. A group header is elected in considering of the position information of vehicles and radio transmission range. And a vehicle equivalent group is formed with the header. With benefits of the group based transmission, it is possible to minimize the unnecessary transmission and the possibility of message collisions. Simulation results show that the message propagation performance is so stable regardless of vehicle's congestion degree.

Message races should be detected for debugging message-passing parallel programs because they can cause non-deterministic executions. Specially, it is important to detect the first race in each process because the first race can cause the occurrence of the other races in the same process. The previous techniques for detecting the first races require more than two monitored runs of a program or analyze a trace file which size is proportional to the number of messages. In this paper we introduce an on-the-fly technique to detect the first race in each process without generating any trace file. In the experiment we test the accuracy of our technique with some benchmark programs and it shows that our technique detects the first race in each process in all benchmark programs.

Powerful error control and increase in the number of bits per symbol should be provided for future high-quality communication systems. Each message bit may have different importance in multimedia data. Hence, UEP(unequal error protection) may be more efficient than EEP(equal error protection) in such cases. And the LDPC(low-density parity-check) code shows near Shannon limit error correcting performance. Therefore, the effect of UEP with LDPC codes is analyzed for high-quality message data in this paper. The relationship among MSE(mean square error), BER(bit error rate) and the number of bits per symbol is analyzed theoretically. Then, total message bits in a symbol are classified into two groups according to importance to prove the relationship by simulation. And the UEP performance is obtained by simulation according to the number of message bits in each group with the constraint of a fixed total code rate and codeword length. As results, the effect of UEP with the LDPC codes is analyzed by MSE according to the number of bits per symbol, the ratio of the message bits, and protection level of the classified groups.

Based on the development of SNS in Mobile and Internet, crisis management is regarded as an important issue that determines the rise and fall of businesses. This study aims to contribute to more efficient implementation of crisis management messages by examining the relationship between the strategy of crisis management communication and the level of specificity of the message. The study found that consumers evaluated the crisis-hit company's acceptance communication strategy to show a higher level of integrity, reliability and appropriateness than the defensive strategy. However, this main effect is mediated by the specificity (high specificity vs. low). Specifically, consumers' assessment of crisis management messages and information-seeking behavior were found to be most favorable when used in a mixture of acceptance strategies and high specificity. Conversely, the lowest effect was the combination of defense strategy and high specificity. Based on these results, the theoretical discussions is described for crisis management practitioners of enterprises and organizations.

Abstract Causal message logging has the advantages of optimistic message logging during failure-free execution and pessimistic message logging during recovery. In this paper, we present a new recovery algorithm based on causal message logging for improving asynchrony among recovering processes. Existing recovery algorithms based on causal message logging block the execution of live processes or require high synchronization among recovering processes. As each recovering process is responsible for only its recovery in our algorithm, the algorithm avoids blocking the execution of live processes during recovery even in concurrently multiple failures and overloading only one among recovering processes. Moreover, it allows the recovery of each recovering process not to be delayed by the continuous failures of other recovering processes. We prove the correctness of our recovery algorithm, and our simulation results show that our algorithm reduces the average recovery time of a failed process compared with the existing recovery algorithms.
The purpose of this study is to explore a difference in crisis between media and parties. This research examined political crisis situation, crisis response, and media coverage using a case. Two main political parties in Korean faced the illegal fund raising case during the 16th presidential election. They used types of crisis response strategies for restoring or maintaining their reputation. This study found that a party's crisis response was consistent with news media, but another party's message was significantly different from news media. Such match or mismatch between a party and news media will influence on public evaluation toward a crisis response. This study has meaningful contribution in that the difference between an organizational crisis response message and news media coverage is significant.

To provide convenience and safety of drivers, the recent vehicles are being equipped with a number of electronic control units (ECUs). Multiple ECUs construct a network inside a vehicle to share information related to the vehicle's status; in addition, the CAN protocol is normally applied. As the modern vehicles provide highly convenient and safe services, it provides many types of attack surfaces; as a result, it makes them vulnerable to cyber attacks. The automotive IDS (Intrusion Detection System) is one of the promising techniques for securing vehicles. However, the existing methods for automotive IDS are able to analyze only periodic messages. If someone attacks on non-periodic messages, the existing methods are not able to properly detect the intrusion. In this paper, we present a method to detect intrusions including an attack using non-periodic messages. Moreover, we evaluate our method on the real vehicles, where we show that our method has 0% of FPR and 0% of FNR under our attack model.
