  • In this paper, we propose a Route Stability-based Direction Guided Routing protocol(RSDGR) in mobile ad-hoc wireless networks. The main features and contributions of the proposed routing protocol are as follows. First, it can calculate link stability between two nodes as well as route stability of multi hop quantitatively by using nodes' mobility. And this protocol can establish the most stable path between a source node and a destination node. Second, according to the route stability between a source node and a destination node, it can control and optimize the direction guided region dynamically for route setup. Third, we suggest theoretical model for quantitative calculation of link stability between two nodes and route stability of multi hop path. The performance evaluation of the proposed routing protocol is performed by simulation using OPNET(Optimized Network Engineering Tool) and theoretical analysis. The results of performance evaluation show that the patterns of PDR are similar in simulation and analysis according to route stability. The faster mobile nodes' velocity and the smaller source node's direct guided reigion, the lower route stability and PDR and the higher delay and control overhead related to this.

  • With recent advances in sensor technology, CMOS-based semiconductor devices and networking protocol, the areas for application of wireless sensor networks greatly expanded and diversified. Such diversification of uses for wireless sensor networks creates a multitude of beneficial possibilities for several industries. In the application of wireless sensor networks for monitoring systems' data transmission process from the sensor node to the sink node, transmission through multi-hop paths have been used. Also mobile sink techniques have been applied. However, high energy costs, unbalanced energy consumption of nodes and time gaps between the measured data values and the actual value have created a need for advancement. Therefore, this thesis proposes a new model which alleviates these problems. To reduce the communication costs due to frequent data exchange, a State Prediction Model has been developed to predict the situation of the peripheral node using a geographic autocorrelation of sensor nodes constituting the wireless sensor networks. Also, a Risk Analysis Model has developed to quickly alert the monitoring system of any fatal abnormalities when they occur. Simulation results have shown, in the case of applying the State Prediction Model, errors were smaller than otherwise. When the Risk Analysis Model is applied, the data transfer latency was reduced. The results of this study are expected to be utilized in any efficient communication method for wireless sensor network monitoring systems where all nodes are able to identify their geographic location.

  • With the fast development in wireless communications and vehicular technologies, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) have enabled to deliver data between vehicles. Recently, VANETs introduce a Vehicular Cloud (VC) model for collaborating to share and use resources of vehicles to create value-added services. To construct a VC, a vehicle should search vehicles that intend to provide their own resource. The single-hop search cannot search enough provider vehicles due to a small coverage and non-line-of-sights of communications. On the other hand, the multi-hop search causes very high traffics for large coverage searching and frequent connection breakages. Recently, many Roadside Units (RSUs) have been deployed on roads to collect the information of vehicles in their own coverages and to connect them to Internet. Thus, we propose a RSU-aided vehicular resource search and cloud construction mechanism in VANETS. In the proposed mechanism, a RSU collects the information of location and mobility of vehicles and selects provider vehicles enabled to provide resources needed for constructing a VC of a requester vehicle based on the collected information. In the proposed mechanism, the criteria for determining provider vehicles to provide resources are the connection duration between each candidate vehicle and the requester vehicle, the resource size of each candidate vehicle, and its connection starting time to the requester vehicle. Simulation results verify that the proposed mechanism achieves better performance than the existing mechanism.

  • The Multihop Routing of vehicle communication environment is difficult to maintain due to heavy fluctuation of network topology and routing channel according to the movement of the vehicle, road property, vehicle distribution. We implemented GeoNetworking on the basis of ETSI(European Telecommunication Standard Institute) to maintain the vehicle safety service. GeoNetworking has its own way that delivers the data through the Unicast and Broadcast. In this paper, we compared performance index such as packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay about GeoNetworking using the QualNet Network Simulator. Previous research assessed performance of GeoUnicast. This research has been additionally performed about GeoBroadcast, and we progressed algorithm performance through the comparison of CBF(Contention based Forwarding) of GeoUnicast with Greedy forwarding of GeoBroadcast.

  • In conventional cooperative communication data rate is 1/2 than non cooperative protocols. In this paper, we propose a full data rate DF (Decode and Forward) cooperative transmission scheme. Proposed scheme is based on time division multiplexing (TDM) channel access. When DF protocol has full data rate, it can not obtain diversity gain under the pairwise error probability (PEP) view point. If it increases time slot to obtain diversity gain, then data rate is reduced. The proposed algorithm uses orthogonal frequency and constellation rotation to obtain both full data rate and diversity order 2. Moreover, performance is analyzed according to distance and optimized components that affect the system performance by using computer simulation. The simulation results revealed that the cooperation can save the network power up to 7dB over direct transmission and 5dB over multi-hop transmission at BER of $10^{-2}$. Besides, it can improve date rate of system compared with the conventional DF protocol.

  • In this paper, we proposed the efficient addressing scheme for improving the performance of routing algorithm by using ZigBee in Smart Grid environment. In a 16-bit address space and the network size of a few thousands, it is very unlikely to suffer from frequent address collisions. In response, we propose an elegant (x, y, z) coordinate axes addressing scheme from divided address space of 16 bit and its routing algorithm. One of disadvantages of (x, y) coordinate axes addressing, however, is that any router may not hold as many children as proposed, since sensor nodes tend to be connected to a geographically nearby router. We also present an adaptive routing algorithm for location-aware routing algorithms, using our addressing scheme. As a result, each node was reduced not only bitwise but also multi hop using the coordinate axes while routing and the effective address assignment and routing is to minimize the average energy consumption of each node in the network.

  • WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) based on low-power is one of the core technologies in the ubiquitous society. In this paper, we present a border surveillance and control system in WSN environment. The system consists of static sensor node, mobile sensor node, static gateway, mobile gateway, server and mobile application. Mobile applications are divided into user mode and manager mode. So users monitor border surveillance through mobile phone and get information of border network environment without time and space constraints. In manager mode, for the flexible operation of nodes, manager can update to the software remotely and adjust the position of the mobile node. And also we implement a suitable multi-hop routing protocol for scalable low-power sensor nodes and confirm that the system operates well in WSN environment.

  • As a broadcast message authentication method in wireless sensor networks, ${\mu}$TESLA enables sensor nodes efficiently authenticate message from base station (BS). However, if we use ${\mu}$TESLA that has very short length of key slot in unattended wireless sensor network (UWSN), sensors may calculate a huge amount of hashs at once in order to verify the revealed secret key. In contrast, if we set the length of ${\mu}$TESLA's key slot too long in order to reduce the amount of hashs to calculate, BS should wait out the long slot time to release key. In this paper, we suggest variable key slot ${\mu}$TESLA in order to mitigate the problem. As showing experiment results, we prove that our suggestion improve sensor node's response time and decrease of number of hash function calculation.

  • This paper aims to present the mathematical model to find the mean web object transfer latency in the slow-start phase of TCP congestion control mechanism, which is one of the main control techniques of Internet. Mean latency is an important service quality measure of end-user in the network. The application area of the proposed latency model is the narrowband environment including multi-hop wireless network and Internet of Things(IoT), where packet loss occurs in the slow-start phase only due to small window. The model finds the latency considering initial window size and the packet loss rate. Our model shows that for a given packet loss rate, round trip time and initial window size mainly affect the mean web object transfer latency. The proposed model can be applied to estimate the mean response time that end user requires in the IoT service applications.

  • In general, routing algorithms that were applied to ad-hoc networks are not suitable for the environment with many nodes over several thousands. To solve this problem, hierarchical management to these nodes and clustering-based protocols for the stable maintenance of topology are used. In this paper, we propose the clustering-based modified LEACH protocol that can applied to an environment which moves around metal containers within communication nodes. In proposed protocol, we implemented a module for detecting the movement of nodes on the clustering-based LEACH protocol and improved the defect of LEACH in an environment with movable nodes. And we showed the possibility of the effective communication by adjusting the configuration method of multi-hop. We also compared the proposed protocol with LEACH in four points of view, which are a gradual network composition time, a reconfiguration time of a topology, a success ratio of communication on an containers environment, and routing overheads. And to conclude, we verified that the proposed protocol is better than original LEACH protocol in the metal containers environment within communication of nodes.
