  • The web is expected to cause the lot of its utilizing as a means of computer instructed learning and recently the applying instance on the web is more increasing in the education. From educational perspectives. the web-based instruction is much superior to any other medium in the view of interaction and greater to the amount of transmitted information. The various learning contents of WBI program can make students feel more excited and interested in learning activities. Also the creative talent and application abilities of the learner are able to be developed by mixing various sorts of multimedia materials up such as moving pictures. graphics and sounds. In this study, a WBI courseware learning program for the problem solving was designed and Proposed on the base of the theory of constructivism for the subject of social science in the 6th grade of elementary school. The experimental results showed that the learning accomplishment of an experimental class was much better than that of an existent class.

A QoS Aware multi-layer MAC(QAML-MAC) Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks (무선센서네트워크에서 QoS 지원을 위한 다중계층 MAC 프로토콜)

  • In this paper, we propose an QoS aware multi-layer MAC(QAML-MAC) protocol in a wireless sensor networks. Since the proposed protocol is based on the sleep-awake architecture, which save node's energy to prolong the entire network lifetime. For this purpose the QAML-MAC first classifies incoming data according to their transmission urgency and then saves them. The protocol also adapts the cross-layer concept to re-arrange the order of transmission with the same destination. So the delay can be decreased, which can not be obtained with the previous related protocols. And high priority data such as real-time multimedia or critical value in the field monitoring applications can be transmitted quickly, Furthermore the proposed protocol has advantage of decreasing transmitted data collisions using multiple layers of idle listening when there is no high-priority data. So energy consumptions of sensor nodes can be saved and the network lifetime can be prolonged.

  • Due to the endeavors and performances of many IT firms, as well as the government supports, the IT capability of Korea was ranked in the top 8th position by Huawei in 2015. Specifically, as far as the wire & wireless network and Internet speed, Korea has taken pride in possessing the competitive advantage. However, many academic and practical experts began to point out the lack of systematic research management on Internet. The purpose of the study is to identify various research issues on Internet and to verify their appropriateness. In addition, the study examined their recent trends and provided the prospect of the future Internet-related researches. Consequently, the finding indicates that the rigorous endeavors and outcomes for each proposed research issue have been resulted in and will be continued. The study anticipates the growing demands of researches in the fields of future network, multimedia application, big data, artificial intelligence, and Internet security.

A Study of DAB Tuner Module for ITS service (ITS서비스를 위한 DAB 튜너 모듈의 연구)

  • DAB(Digital audio broadcasting) is a next generation radio broadcasting system which provides CD quality audio, various data services and superior reception ability when moving. Also, it can show traffic informations and news literally or graphically. In this paper, we design and fabricate the DAB tuner for ITS service that follows Eureka-147 and ETSI 300 401 specifications. This small-sized tuner can be adopted to mny electronic equipments such as a Hi-Fi audio, DVD player, car audio system etc.. The overall performance of the tuner depends on a phase noise of VCO and the sensitivity of the receiving system is influenced by LNA, image rejection filter and channel selection filter. All our measurement results satisfy the specification for a DAB system with the return loss of 9dB, the noise figure of 6dB for both Band 111 and L-band and the sensitivity of -97dBm.

  • DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting) is a new media service that can provide CD quality audio, various data service, interactive and high quality mobile communications through popular media such as terrestrial broadcasting, satellite, cable TV, and internet. In this paper, a new EPG(Electronic Program Guide) application model is proposed. The model is based on DAB and combines a DAB receiver and PCs so that it can take advantages of using various multimedia services and plenty of internet contents. The developed EPSD(EPG Provider System on DAB) has Web-based Server/Client structure and povides EPG functionalities to client PCs over internet. Therefore, the DAB receiver can be smaller and cheaper, and can develop abundant data services on internet. It can also provide high quality video services and be expected to become an important component in future home network systems.

  • BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) is a way to control computer by using the human brain waves. As the hardware using brain wave technologies has developed, former expensive and big sized brain wave measuring devices have recently become much smaller and cheaper in their prices, making it possible for the individuals to buy them. This predicts them to be applied in various fields of multimedia industry. This thesis is to give an insight into whether the BCI device can be used as a new gaming device approaching it in a game designing point of view. At first, we proposed game play elements that can effectively utilizing the BCI devices, systematize, and produced a game prototype adopting the BCI device based on such game play elements. Next, we verified it with statistical data analysis to show that the prototype adopting the BCI device gives more clear and efficient controls in its game play than a game of only adopting keyboard & mouse devices and analysis verified that BCI-based game play elements provide users with a more intuitive and interesting experience than traditional non-BcI-based game play elements. The results will give a guideline for effective game design methodology for making BCI based games.

  • In this paper, we propose the matching model between virtual reality and the real-world for peoples with limited mobility. The proposed matching model is consist of four parts: wearable input device-based PC control, hand-motion pattern recognition, application software, and matching between virtual reality and the real-world. To recognition mouse functions and hand-motion patterns from six-axis coordinate of wearable input device, RF communication is used. In addition, to easily control the real-world, virtual reality has been implemented with realism of the real-world. Some experiments are conducted so as to verify the proposed model, and as a result, hand-motion recognition as well as virtual reality control are well performed.

  • It's for USB to be used more frequently than another I/O devices. The Universal Serial Bus is the most successful interface in PC history. It's already the do facto interconnect for PCs, and has proliferated into consumer electronics(CE) and mobile devices as well. USB has built on many killer applications, many CE devices, many interfaces. The tangle of wires among the number of devices in your home demands wireless technology. If our devices is unwired, it solves the tangle of wires. In this paper we want to use Legacy USB functionalities, portabilities, multimedia capabilities with wireless interconnection. This paper is related to a study of USB implementation without wires. This paper is related to make the hub function of USB cordless, so it will connect host with devices without wires. In case making USB wireless, it must support the above functionalities. Moreover, It needs the data structure and the resources for host functionalities, e.g. ETD(Endpoint Transfer Descriptor), data memory. This will benefit a convenient use of USB.

Semi-Dynamic Digital Video Adaptation System for Mobile Environment (모바일 환경을 위한 준-동적 디지털 비디오 어댑테이션 시스템)

  • A video adaptation system translates the source video stream into appropriate video stream while satisfying the network and client constraints and maximizing the video quality as much as possible. This paper proposes a semi-dynamic video adaptation scheme, in which several intermediate video streams and the information for the measuring of video quality are generated statically. The intermediate video streams are generated by reducing the resolution of the video stream by a power of two several times, and they are stored as the intermediate video streams on the video server. The statically generated information for the input video stream consists of the degrees of smoothness for each frame rate and the degree of frame definition for each pixel bit rate. It helps to dynamically generate the target video stream according to the client's QoS at run-time as quickly as possible. Experimental result shows that the proposed adaptation scheme can generate the target video stream about thirty times faster while keeping the quality degradation as less than 2% comparing to the target video stream that is totally dynamically generated, although the extra storages for the intermediate video streams are required.

Implementation of Optimizing Compiler for Bus-based VLIW Processors (버스기반의 VLIW형 프로세서를 위한 최적화 컴파일러 구현)

  • Modern microprocessors exploit instruction-level parallel processing to increase the performance. Especially VLIW processors supported by the parallelizing compiler are used more and more in specific applications such as high-end DSP and graphic processing. Bus-based VLIW architecture was proposed for these specific applications and it was designed to reduce the overhead of forwarding unit and the instruction width. In this paper, a optimizing scheduling compiler developed for the proposed bus-based VLIW processor is introduced. First, the method to model interconnections between buses and resource usage patterns is described. Then, on the basis of the modeling, machine-dependent optimization techniques such as bus-to-register promotion, copy coalescing and operand substitution were implemented. Optimization techniques for general-purpose VLIW microprocessors such as selective scheduling and enhanced pipelining scheduling(EPS) were also implemented. The experiment result shows about 20% performance gain for multimedia application benchmarks.
