Proposal of stability standards for slopes reclaimed by soils mixed with stone dust (석분슬러지 혼합토 매립사면에 대한 안정성 기준 제안)

  • In this paper, the stability standards of slopes reclaimed by soils mixed with stone dust were proposed to manage the stone dust as recovery soils. First of all, the mixed ratio between stone dust and natural soil is classified into 5 groups, and a series of soil test was performed in each group. As the results of tests, the shear strength and the maximum dry unit weight were increased in decrease of the mixed ratio of stone dust. On the basis of the investigation to the safety factor standards of embankment slopes in and outside the country, a slope stability rank of slopes reclaimed by mixed soils were divided into 3 stages such as unstable stage, attention stage and stable stage. The slope angle, the slope height and the mixed ratio with stone dust were proposed by the result of stability analysis of slopes reclaimed by mixed soils. As the result of slope stability analysis, the slope angle of 1 : 1.8 at the reclaimed slope should be constructed in case of the slope height of 10 m. Also, the slope angle of 1 : 1.8 and the mixed ratio of stone dust less than 50% should be constructed in case of the slope height of 15 m. The analysis result of reclaimed slope constructed inside the quarry is similar to that of reclaimed slope constructed on the open ground in same conditions of the slope angle, the slope height and the mixed ratio with stone dust. The proposed stability standards of slopes reclaimed by soils mixed with stone dust can be used practically at the quarrying site.

Groundwater Contamination at the Seokdae Waste Landfill Area of Pusan City (부산 석대 폐기물 매립장 일대의 지하수 오염)

  • Wastes produce groundwater contamination, offensive odor, and hazardous gases. This study investigates the contamination of groundwater at the Seokdae waste landfill area and seeks the desirable ways to minimize the groundwater contamination. Groundwater levels, water chemistry and aquifer characteristics of wells were examined around the Seokdae waste landfill. The water chemistry of the Dong stream, the groundwater distribution and flow were also studied. The results of this research show that the estimated quantity of the percolation from the landfill base to the ground is 520 ㎥/day and the extent of groundwater contamination is about 1-1.5 km from the center of the waste landfill. The groundwater contains heavy metals and other toxic elements. The conservation and management of the groundwater of the waste landfill need several monitoring wells to check the quantity and quality of groundwater, pumping wells to extract the contaminated groundwater, and slurry walls to protect the movement of contaminated groundwater.

Hydrogen Sulfide Removal in Full-scale Landfill Gas Using Leachate and Chelated Iron (침출수 및 철킬레이트를 이용한 실규모 매립가스 내 황화수소 제거)

  • $H_2S$ is a detrimental impurity that must be removed for upgrading biogas to biomethane. This study investigates an economic method to mitigate $H_2S$ content, combining scrubbing and aeration. The desulfurization experiments were performed in a laboratory apparatus using EDTA-Fe or landfill leachate as the catalyst and metered mixture of 50-52% (v/v) $CH_4$, 32-33% (v/v) $CO_2$ and 500-1,000 ppmv $H_2S$ balanced by $N_2$ using the C city landfill gas. Dissolved iron concentration in the liquid medium significantly affected the oxidation efficiency of sulfide. Iron components in landfill leachate, which would be available in a biogas/landfill gas utilization facility, was compatible with an external iron chelate. More than 70% of $H_2S$ was removed in a contact time of 9 seconds at iron levels at or over 28 mM. The scrubbing-aeration process would be a feasible and easy-to-operate technology for biogas purification.

매립장 침출수에 의한 오염지하수 정화 방법 연구

  • 매립장 침출수로 인해 오염된 매립장 주변 지하수 정화를 위한 실내실험을 실시하였다. 오염물로는 대표적 염화용제인 TCE와 PCE, 그리고 중금속인 As, Cd, Cr, Pb에 대하여 Air-sparging, 오존 산화법, 화학적 처리방법에 의한 정화효율 실험을 실시하였다. Air-sparging은 TCE, PCE에서 높은 제거효율을 가졌으며, 오존 산화법은 Cr, Pb에서 제거 효율이 좋았다. 반응제를 첨가한 공침방법의 경우, 모든 중금속에 대하여 소석회 첨가시 매우 높은 제거효율을 보였으며, As는 황산제일철에서, Cd, Cr, Pb는 탄산칼슘과 제올라이트 첨가시 높은 제거효율을 나타내었다. 실험결과로부터, 유기오염물과 중금속이 혼합되어 나타나는 매립장 주변 오염 지하수의 경우 휘발성 유기오염물의 제거를 위해서는 폭기방법이, 중금속의 경우에는 공침방법에 의해 수산화물, 탄산염으로 만들어 고형물로 처리하는 방법이 제거효과가 좋은 것으로 나타났다.

법령과고시 1 - 가스배관 벽체매립시대 열다

  • 건축물 가스배관이 외벽이 아닌 벽체에 매립됨으로써 건축물 외관의 새 지평을 열게 됐다. 산업통상자원부는 도시가스 사용에 따른 국민생활과 기업 활동에 불편을 주는 애로점을 해소하기 위해 건축물 도시가스배관 매립 등의 내용을 포함한 도시가스사업법 시행규칙을 지난 7월 25일 개정 공포하고 시행에 들어갔다. 이로써 7월 25일 이후 공사 입찰 공고분부터 가스배관의 벽체 매립이 적용된다. 그동안 도시가스배관은 외부에 노출되는 것이 원칙이었으나 이번 도시가스사업법 시행규칙 개정으로 벽에 매립 설치됨으로써 도시가스배관을 이용한 범죄예방효과에 크게 기여할 뿐만 아니라 건축물 미관도 개선될 것으로 보인다. 한편 가스계량기의 설치는 계량검침 및 유지보수가 용이하도록 외부 설치가 유도됨에 따라 사생활 침해와 검침원 사칭 피해를 사전에 예방할 수 있도록 하였고, 가스콘센트를 설치토록 하여 주민불편과 비용부담이 해소될 수 있도록 하였다. 이번 도시가스사업법 시행규칙 개정은 그동안 대한설비건설협회 가스설비공사협의회(위원장 조종택)가 지속적으로 건의하여 받아들여진 것으로, 가스설비공사협의회는 건축물 내 가스배관 설치기준 연구의 정책 기술 자문위원으로 적극 참여한 바 있다.

  • 미포만 공유수면 매립공사는 방파호안 854.5m를 축조하고 부지 $100,514.3m^{2}$를 매립하여 현대중공업(주)의 조선용 블록 제작장 및 적치장을 조성하는 사업이다. 2004년 2월 해양 수산부 설계자문을 실시하고, 2004년 5월 실시계획 인가를 득하여 사업을 추진하여 오던 중, 최근의 이상파랑 및 태풍 내습 (2005년 8월, 태풍 나비)등으로 인하여 피해가 발행하는 동 사업시행자인 현대중공업(주)에서 사업계획의 일부 변경(공구분할)올 요청하여 1공구(미포만 북방파제 보강)공사만을 2005년 8월말로 완료하였다. 미포만 공유수면(II-Block) 매립공사(2공사)는 파량 내습시 피해발생 사전예방 및 상향된 심해설계파 등에 안전한 구조물 축조로 배후매립부지의 안전성을 확보할 수 있도록 호안의 마루높이를 상향하고 케이슨 및 피복재 중량을 증대하여 설계 및 시공할 수 있도록 하였다.

Evaluation of the Stability of Geomembrane Liner System in Closed Waste Landfill (사용종료 폐기물 매립장의 멤브레인 차수시스템 안정성 평가)

  • Recently, the effective use of closed waste landfill nearby urban areas has been demanded, because of the lack of the usable land. However, the reuse of closed landfill is needed an adequate stabilization of liner system. But most of these places are consisted of steep slope and hence it is necessary to use the geosynthetics liners in there. Liner system of waste landfills is an important facility which prevents leachate outgoing from the landfills and also groundwater infiltrating from surroundings into the landfills. During the waste disposal stage, differential settlement and tensile stress of the geosynthetic materials could occur due to impact load of trucks and dozers, waste loads and weak foundation soils. In this study, the tensile strength and tracer test were performed to evaluate the stability of geomembrane liner systems. Based on the tensile strength test result of in-situ geomembrane sample, the yield tensile strength maintain the suitable strength by specification and current law. However, according to the tracer test, the damage of geomembrane liner was detected on sanitary landfill section.

A Study on the Leachate Distribution of the Mooreung Landfill Site with Electrical Resistivity Surveys (전기비저항 탐사를 이용한 충주 무릉매립장 침출수 분포에 관한 연구)

  • The electrical resistivity prospecting method with dipole-dipole array was applied to the Mooreung landfill site in order to survey the existence of leachate around the landfill site. Moreover, if there is leachate within Mooreung landfill site, the analysis of potential pathways to exterior environments was tried. Within the landfill site, the over-all characteristics of the electrical resistivity anomalies suggest that the leachate induced from the landfill materials has infiltrated the basement rock and fill the pores of basement rock in some parts of the landfill site. The consistency of the anomaly locations (left part of each survey line), anomaly geometries, and absolute resistivity value of anomaly through the 3 survey lines suggests that the resistivity anomaly be connected from the upstream to the downstream and correspond to the leachate material. Finally, the result from the electrical resistivity survey line near the gateway of the landfill site suggests that some of the leachate induced from landfill material leaks to the exterior groundwater system. It is necessary that more surveys using both geochemical and geophysical methods should be performed to find out potential pathways and depths of the leachate more precisely.

  • Waste landfills built on weak soils have the possibilities of the failure of slope and foundation due to the disposed waste loads. To ensure the landfill will sustain its stability within a limited site area, it's necessary to investigate and understand the characteristics of soft land by identifying the requirements for waste filling and by quantitative field measurement and management of landfills. In this paper, the stability analyses are performed using the field measurement data of Gimpo #2 Metropolitan Landfil. For the stability analysis, Tominaga-Hashimoto method and Kuriharh method, which may be able to manage the stability of the landfill quantitatively, are used.

  • This study intends to analyze how long the landfill site will be available by estimating maximum volume of landfill. Preestimated volume was calculated using digital maps and scheme drawings. The latest reclamation volume was measured using the state-of-the-art airborne LiDAR technology. Based on these data. landfill volume of now, carries in volume of past a few years and subsidence rate were calculated. As a result of study, the remaining capacity of this landfill site was estimated that it would be available till 2045.
