While consolidants based on tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) have been widely used for the consolidation of decaying stone heritages, TEOS-based consolidants suffer from practical drawbacks, such as crack formation of the gel during the drying phase due to the developed capillary force. We have prepared new TEOS-based consolidants containing flexible (3-glycidoxypropyl) trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) in order to reduce capillary force development during gel drying. In this study, we have prepared TEOS/GPTMS-based consolidants containing ETEOS in order to improve the surface hydrophobisity. The physical properties of the TEOS/GPTMS/ETEOS solution with different hydrolysis were compared with those of the commercial products Wacker OH$^{(R)}$. The contact angle of the surface increased with the addition of the ETEOS, which is higher than that of Wacker OH$^{(R)}$. The sol-gel mechanism was manipulated by the degree of hydrolysis as well as the amount of ETEOS. The properties and the applicability of the developed consolidants for the decayed Korean granites are also investigated.
The purpose of this study is to review the taxonomical position of Phytolacca insularis Nakai based on morphological characters and ITS sequences. Phytolacca insularis was similar to P. acinosa in the stem shape, inflorescence, apocarpous, eight pistils, eight stamens, pink anther, and eight fruits. But the unique difference between P. insularis and P. acinosa was leaf size and pistil color. Phytolaccri insularis and P. acinosa have a similar sculpturing patterns as an foveolate and microscabrate in pollen, but they differed from P. americana in having a bigger foveolae size in sculpture pattern. Phytolacca insularis and P. acinosa were similar in the seed size but different from P. americana by having a small size of seed. The seed surface of P. insularis and P. acinosa was similar with a irregularly undulate shape, but its feature of P. americana differed in having the reticulate shape. Phytolacc a insularis had identical ITS sequences with P. acinosa. Phytolacca insularis and P. acinosa have a close relationship in the morphological characters and ITS sequences. The examinations of morphology and ITS sequences suggest that P. insularis be a form of P. acinosa although it has been formerly treated as a distinct species.
Epoxy adhesive was mainly used to combine different composite materials. Epoxy adhesive was a typical thermosetting resin that can be bonded by changing from a linear structure to a three-dimensional network structure by curing reaction of epoxy and hardener. The curing conditions of epoxy adhesive were different with different types of hardener such as mixing ratio, curing time, and temperature. These curing conditions affected to the adhesive property of epoxy adhesive. In industry, it was difficult to proceed the applying epoxy adhesive and combining two parts immediately. The adhesive property decreased by humidity and pre-curing of epoxy adhesive in waiting time between two processes. In this paper, the glass fiber reinforced composite (GFRC) was combined with epoxy adhesive and adhesion property between epoxy adhesive and GFRCs was evaluated using single lap shear test. The different waiting times and humidity conditions were applied to epoxy adhesive in room temperature and adhesive property decreased as the waiting time increased. In small amount of humidity, the adhesive property increased because a small amount of moisture in the surroundings accelerated the curing reaction. In certain amount of humidity, however, the adhesion property decreased.

Up to now, better convenience and portability were important factors in the development of the cosmetics and achieved by immersing low viscosity makeup water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion into the impregnation material. Conventionally, polyurethane sponges having porous network structures and hard textures have been dominantly used. It has an advantage of easy to manufacture because of its good impregnation property due to its structural characteristics. However, it releases emulsion too much at first use, and shows unexpected dramatic decline during the period of usage. In this study, we studied on makeup W/O emulsion with various features and developed the new foaming sponge, which showed excellent formability and proper absorption and discharge ability of cosmetic composition through the combination of natural rubber (NR) and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR). This impregnation material is characterized by the softness of elasticity like a rubber, high elongation and uniform output. We confirmed that this material can be used to develop makeup products using various oils depending on polarity and controlling the viscosity of the makeup W/O emulsion. Thus, it is concluded that these results provide valuable information in developing new cosmetics impregnation materials.
The identification of green algae which were collected from paddy rice fields of the whole nation was conducted in 1991, and also the reproduction processes of three important green algae were investigated. The green algae identified were 46 species in 16 families including 4 species in the Volvocaceae, 4 species in the Palmellaceae, 3 species in the Ulotrichaceae, 3 species in the Oocystaceae and 6 species in the Scenedesmaceae. It was recognized that the algae which have caused a large injury to the flooded direct-seeded rice in Seosan reclaimed saline land was the genus Cladophora. The green water blooms on paddy water were induced mostly by the concentrated populations of suspended green algae such as the genera, Chlamydomonas and Stichococcus. A rapid propagation of Hydrodictyon was resulted from the asexual reproduction forming autocolony in each mother cell. The sexual and asexual reproduction processes of Oedogonium and the sexual reproduction process of Spirogyra were observed.

Alveolar bone resorption after extraction impairs the necessary bone volume and complicates the case for implant surgery and aesthetic implant prosthesis. Immediate implant surgery after extraction decreases the number of surgical procedures and the duration of treatment, while allowing minimum alveolar bone resorption and preserving the residual bone volume. Although immediate implant holds many advantages such as preservation of hard and soft tissue around the extraction socket, greater implant survival rate and higher patient satisfaction, various complications and high failure rate are discouraging factors for the clinicians. In this case report, severe alveolar bone resorption with soft tissue changes were predicted after the extraction of prolonged retained deciduous incisors and impacted maxillary canines and thus decided on immediate implant procedure. Immediate implant surgery after extraction was carried out with minimal bone reduction and tapered wide-neck implant to establish initial stability. Simultaneous bone graft was done by filling the defect area with iliac cancellous bone with additional onlay-type bone graft and absorbable membrane on the labial bone for upper lip support. A stable and esthetic result was obtained with shortened treatment period.
The hydrogels of hydrophilic three-dimensional methacrylate polymer networks were prepared from 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDGMA) in aqueous solution. The interaction of water with the hydrophilic methacrylate polymers in the hydrogels was studied by pulse NMR spectroscopy. The spin-lattice relaxation times (T1) of low water content hydrogels showed the different double environments, resulting in two spin-lattice relaxation times (T1a and T1b). The values of T1a and T1b were 16.4${\times}$10-3 sec and 58.2${\times}$10-3 sec for a p(HEMA)-(10% H2O) system, and 13.2${\times}$10-3 sec and 23.1${\times}$10-3 sec for a crosslinked EGDMA-p(HEMA)-(10% H2O) system, respectively. The spin-spin relaxation times (T2) of the hydrogels were also measured as a function of water content in the p(HEMA)-(H2O)n and crosslinked EGDMA-p(HEMA)-(H2O)n system. The values of T2 were approximately 10 times less than those of T1 in agreement with the principles of spin relaxations.

Characteristics of attention deficit of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) were investigated by administering six computerized attention tests of Vienna Test System and four neuropsychological tests to children aged 6-12, with ADHD(n=21) and age-matched normal control children(n=22). The findings indicated that ADHD children show lower level of vigilance, more decline of performance in vigilance task on time, and impaired preparedness to response. They also have selective attention deficit on monitoring tasks, but did not have sustained attention deficit compared with normal control children. On the tasks wich overload their information processing capacity, ADHD children show more impulsive response pattern than normal control children. The performance of ADHD was worse than control on the neuropsychological tests sensitive to frontal lobe dysfunction. The presense 'These' attention deficits supports the theory that the defect of ADHD is due to the dysfunction of more than one brain region, including brain stem reticular formation and frontal lobe.
The gonad index (GI), reproductive cycle with gonad developmental phases, first sexual maturity and the sex ratio of the jedo venus, Protothaca jedensis, on the coastal waters of Boryeong, Korea were investigated by histological study. Samples were collected from the subtidal zone of Boryeong, Korea from January to December, 1999. Monthly changes in the gonad index in femal and male clams gradually increased from February and reached the maximum in May, and then the values rapidly decreased from June and reached the minimum in November as seen in variations of the reproductive cycle. The spawning period of this species was once a year between May and July, there was a spawning peak between June and July when seawater temperature was over 20$^{\circ}C$. The reproductive cycle of this species in female and male clams can be classified into five successive stages: early active stage (December to March), late active stage (February to June), ripe stage (April to July), partially spawned stage (May to July) and spent/inactive stage (July to January). Percentages of first sexual maturity of female and male clams of 30.1-35.0 mm in shell length were 52.6% and 60.0%, respectively, and 100% for the clams over 45.1 mm in shell length. The sex ratio of individuals > 30.1 mm in shell length was 1:1 (X$^2$ = 0.40, p > 0.05).
The reproductive ecology of freshwater bivalve, Unio douglasiae in Lake Uiam were examined from March 2014 to February 2015. The gonads distributed in reticular connective tissue, the dioecious clams take an internal fertilization and fertilized eggs are stored in the foster-sack in the gills, then the hatched juveniles are released outside after an ovoviviparous process. The gonad index (GI) began to increase in April, reached the maximum value in July and to decrease in August. The reproductive cycle of U. douglasiae can be divided into five successive stages: multiplicative stage (November to January), growing stage (February to March), mature stage (February to May), spawning stage (April to September), recovery stage (August to December). The spawning periods were from April to September, and the main spawning occurred between April and July. The shell length at 50% group maturity was estimated to be 29.4 mm.
