This study examines the effects of in-company English programs on Korean employees' English learning. During the twelve weeks, 68 employees in Korea engaged in an English learning program in the workplace. Before and after the program, pre- and post-tests were conducted to see if their English proficiency improved. Pre- and post-surveys and interviews were also administered to understand how they perceived the program. Results show that the employees improved their English oral proficiency and their attitudes toward English learning positively changed, as a result of participating in the program. Also, the program appeared to be successful, meeting their needs. Given that little research has investigated the effects of in-company English learning, this study provides insights on the effectiveness of English programs in the workplace in Korea.

As the world develops into a global society, more and more people want to speak foreign languages fluently. To speak fluently, you must have sufficient training in speaking, which requires a dialogue partner. Recently, it is expected that the development of voice recognition information technology will enable the development of a system for conducting foreign language speaking training without human beings from the other party. In this study, a test bed system for foreign language speaking training was developed and applied to elementary school classes. Elementary school students were asked to present their English conversation situation and conduct speaking training. Then, satisfaction with the system and potential for continuous utilization were surveyed. The system developed in this study has been identified as helpful for the training of learning to speak a foreign language.

The purpose of this study was to explore and to suggest the effective teaching methods for university students to improve their speaking abilities through peer assessment-feedback and self assessment-feedback based presentation and debate class. The objects and content of the study were the students who took a class "Reading and Communication" of H university, and here examine closely the speaking activities and their effects during the integrated activities of 'reading, speaking and writing'. In speaking education peer and self assessment feedback is to form an emotional consensus among the students and encourage active participation, and enable self-discovery and communication learning to students. As a result of the study, it was found that the variety speaking practice had a very positive effect on the attitude of speaking and the psychological aspect, and it was confirmed that the evaluation and feedback activities had a meaningful learning effect on the students. Effective speech education and guidance measures should be continuously studied and developed.

영여교육은 시대가 변할수록 그 중요성과 필요성이 매우 강조되고 있으며 이에 대한 사람들의 관심도 늘어나고 있다. 그 중에서도 초등영어교육에서 말하기 영역은 학습자들의 의사 소통 능력을 기르는 것을 목표로 하는 초등영어교육에서 매우 중요하며 영어실력을 판단하는 대표적인 준거가 된다. 시대의 변화에 따라 그 변화에 부응하여 교육적인 흐름도 변화해 오면서 최근에는 웹환경과 인터넷을 활용한 영어교육에 대한 연구가 활발하게 있어 왔다. 이에 본 논문에서는 초등영어교과 중에서도 말하기 영역의 중요성을 알아보고 새로운 웹환경에서 말하기를 효과적으로 지도하기 위한 Web 2.0 도구인 VoiceThread의 적합성과 지도방안에 대하여 알아보고자 한다.

Most of elementary and secondary school mathematical terms in Korean are Sino-Korean words. We check Chinese characters relating to such Sino-Korean words by using Chinese dictionaries, and critically judge how much we can understand Sino-Korean words by Chinese characters. Through this search, we classify Sino-Korean words into three categories; words which can be understood by Chinese characters, words which can not be understood by Chinese characters, words which are misunderstood by Chinese characters.

외국어 교육의 필요성이 강조되고 그에 대한 요구가 늘어남에 따라 언어 교육의 기회를 늘리고 비용을 줄이기 위해 컴퓨터 기반의 다양한 기술들의 요구 역시 증가하고 개발되고 있다. 언어 능력 개발의 중요한 요소로서 문법 교육에 대한 컴퓨터 지원 기술 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 문법 오류 시뮬레이션을 통해 문법 오류 패턴 데이터베이스를 구축하고 이들 패턴과 사용자 입력의 패턴 매칭으로 생성된 자질 벡터로 기계 학습을 하여 문법성 확인을 했다. 문법성 확인 결과에 따라 오류 종류에 따른 상대 빈도를 고려하여 오류 종류를 분류했다. 또 말하기와 쓰기 작업의 서로 다른 특성을 반영하기 위해 말하기 작업과 쓰기 작업에 대한 두 개의 다른 말뭉치가 학습에 이용 되었다.

지식기반 사회에서 교육은 장기적인 발전을 위한 필수 요소이다. 교육을 위해서는 말하기, 듣기, 쓰기, 읽기 능력이 필요하다. 이 중 하나라도 충족하지 못한다면 제대로 된 교육을 받을 수 없다. 하지만 전 세계에 존재하는 약 6900여종의 언어 중 6600여종의 언어는 표기할 수 있는 고유 문자가 없다. 읽기 능력과 쓰기 능력을 기르기 위한 최소 조건조차 마련되어 있지 않은 것이다. 그래서 말은 있지만 문자는 없는 국가에 말을 표기할 수 있는 문자를 보급하여 지식기반 발전의 기반을 마련해 주는 소울(SOUL) 시스템을 제안한다. 소울(SOUL)은 두 가지 기능을 가지고 있다. 문자 교육 기능과, 지식 공유 공간 기능이다. 문자 교육 기능에서는 각 문자가 내는 소리와 조합방법, 그리고 각 문자의 표기법, 표기 순서 등을 익힘으로써 문자를 쉽게 익힐 수 있도록 하였다. SOUL은 말을 표기할 문자로 비교적 익히기 쉬운 언문인 한글을 채택하였다. 그리고 지식 공유 공간 기능에서는 문자를 익힌 사용자가 마치 위키피디아처럼 지식을 기록하고 공유할 수 있어 지식을 축적하도록 도와주도록 설계하였다. 여기서는 소울(SOUL) 시스템의 구조 및 구현을 보인다.

Speaking skill is an important quality in expressing oneself in school life. Quite a few students experience difficulties at school because of the lack of adequate speaking ability. In order to help them, a Web-based speaking enhancement system is designed and developed using computers equipped with multimedia devices with which students can practice speaking while they are observing graphical representation of voices, which is to cause interest and voluntary participation in the learning activity. The learning system was tested on a group of 44 students of 4th grade in an elementary school. The students were divided into three smaller groups in terms of speaking ability. The experiment shows the effectiveness of the system in building speaking ability.

The purpose of this study is to propose education program development models for improving communication competencies of engineering undergraduates in Korea based on practical research with empirical data on engineering undergraduates communication abilities. This study can help many universities to develop communication curriculum for undergraduates in engineering. Because of practical research on 355 engineering undergraduates empirical data, this study can provide new guideline of teaching communication skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Future research could examine and develop more possibilities and limitations of these studies through expansion of research to the many universities and students.

In order to succeed to the 'Traditional Play Series 1~9' by Prof. Sa Jinsil, this article sought the contact points between the traditional drama and the elementary drama education that Prof. Sa Jinsil held. The educational perspective of the prof. Sa Jinsil is reflected specifically in the seventh and eighth volumes. However, these educational perspectives are similar to those presented in the 2015 revised curriculum. It is also similar to the cultivation of humanities through theater education. In other words, the similarity is confirmed in that the target is creativity-interdisciplinary type human. The foresight of the prof. Sa jinsil in the education for creativity-interdisciplinary type human is confirmed. On the other hand, in order to cultivate creativity-interdisciplinary type human, it is also required to cultivate the ability to 'fun speaking' as well as 'logically speaking'. In this regard, I presented Jaedam, one of the Korean traditional plays, as an alternative. The reason for this is as follows; (1)It is possible to succeed Korean traditional theater performance style through regular class. (2)Students can develop emotional and empathy skills through fun speaking education. (3)Students will develop persuasive storytelling skills. At this time, the traditional play series 1~9, which contains the works of Prof. Sa Jinsil, and cultural ideas and educational ideas, will be useful.
