A study on the effects of Friction loss of CPVC pipe according to Roughness coefficient in a sprinkler system (스프링클러 시스템에서 조도계수에 따른 CPVC 배관 마찰손실 영향의 연구)

  • The pipe material is selected according to the physical and chemical properties of the fluid flowing within it. Because the fluid used in fire extinguish systems is water, the various foreign substances dissolved in it cause scale to form on the pipe wall and accelerate the corrosion and aging of the pipe itself. This results in an increase in the friction loss and eventually degrades the efficiency of the pump. The use of CPVC (Chlorinated Poly-Vinyl Chloride) pipes was confirmed to reduce the friction loss compared to conventional steel pipes in the design and construction stages. The friction loss was found to be 76.64MPa with a C-value of 120 for the steel pipe and 50.72 MPa with a C-value of 150 for the CPVC pipe in an actual apartment construction environment. It was confirmed that the friction loss was improved by about 34% when using the CPVC pipe. When the steel and CPVC pipes were employed in the construction, the construction costs were 1,585,158 and 931,842 won, respectively. Therefore, it was shown that the construction cost was reduced by about 41%. We investigated the safety of the fire extinguishing system and the improvement in the economic performance due to the reduction in the total installed capacity by studying practical applications in the field.

Estimation of Shear Strength Along Concrete Construction Joints Considering the Variation of Concrete Cohesion and Coefficient of Friction (콘크리트 시공줄눈 면에서 점착력 및 마찰계수의 변화를 고려한 전단내력 평가)

  • This paper presents a mathematical model derived from the upper-bound theorem of concrete plasticity to rationally evaluate the shear friction strength of concrete interfaces with a construction joint. The upper limit of the shear friction strength was formulated from the limit state of concrete crushing failure on the strut-and-tie action along the construction joints to avoid overestimating the shear transfer capacity of a transverse reinforcement with a high clamping force. The present model approach proposed that the cohesion and coefficient of friction of concrete can be set to be $0.27(f_{ck})^{0.65}$ and 0.95, respectively, for rough construction joints and $0.11(f_{ck})^{0.65}$ and 0.64, respectively, for smooth ones, where $f_{ck}$ is the compressive strength of concrete. From the comparisons with 155 data compiled from the available literature, the proposed model gave lower values of standard deviation and coefficient of variation of the ratios between predictions and experiments than AASHTO and fib 2010 equations, indicating that the proposed model has consistent trends with test results, unlike the significant underestimation results of such code equations in evaluating the shear friction strength.

A Study on the Slip Behavior of Coated High Tension Bolted Joints (도장처리한 고장력볼트 연결부의 미끄러짐 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Coating the high tension bolted frictional joint has been generally allowed for anti-corrosion purpose. However in case of painting on paying surface of the high tension bolt, the influence on a slip strength of the joint depending on precision of painting has remained controversial. The study thus was intended to identify the slip behavior on high tension bolted frictional joint when applying ceramic painting, which has been currently developed. A slip test was conducted on a high tension bolted frictional joint specimen on which ceramic painting has been applied and a slip load and slip coefficient were measured. Based on result, the safety and usability of ceramic painting-applied high tension bolted frictional joint was evaluated. As a result, a difference to some extent by specimen in terms of load-displacement when a slip occurred was observed but an average slip coefficient appeared to have exceeded 0.4, which is the design frictional coefficient set forth in the specification. To secure the safety and usability of ceramic painting-applied high tension bolted frictional joint, it's necessary to establish the standard for painting as well as to revise the relevant specification.

Apparent Coefficients of Friction between Weathered Granite Soils and Strip Reinforcements (화강토에서의 띠 보강재의 겉보기마찰계수)

  • Pull-out tests for three different types of strip reinforcements are performed to investigate variation of the apparent coefficient of friction which occurs between the reinforcements and the weathered granite soils with different contents of fine materials. The contents of fine materials for the soil sample are varied from 7% to 36% and the reinforcements used for the pullout tests are smooth, ribbed steel strips and a textured shape Paraweb 1 Friction tie. Test results show that the apparent coefficient of friction tends to decrease with the increase of the content of fine meterials. It is known, however, that the minimum apparent coefficient of friction required to the design of reinforced earth structures can be achieved even at 35% fine contents by using appropriate reinforcements. The ribbed strip reinforcement is found to be the most effective in mobilizing the apparent friction when interacting to finer weathered granite soils. The textured reinforcement is also useful for 35% fine con tents if the textured depth is increased.

The Friction Coefficients of Interfaces between Weathered Granite Soil and Reinforcements (화강토와 보강재 경계면에서의 마찰계수에 관한 연구)

  • A series of shear tests is performed to measure friction coefficients of the interface between different reinforcements and weathered granite soils. The reinforcements tested are smooth steel strip, Paraweb(friction tie) and geotextile with rough surface, while the weathered granite soils are composed of different, grain size distribution. Soils are compacted with the energy of 95% modified AASHTO and fully saturated before testing to simulate the worst site condition. Because of characteristics of the direct shear apparatus, shear strength is obtained in terms of drained condition. Test results show that the more fines the soils contain, the larger ratio of friction coefficient ($\mu=\frac{tan{\delta}}{tan{\Psi}}$) is obtained. Also the ratios are much higher for the Friction tie and the geotextile compared to the smooth steel strip. Those suggest that even weathered granite soils with 36% fines are possible to use as backfill of reinforced earth structures for the two reinforcements when a drainage system is provided.

  • This paper investigates the accuracy of vehicle pre-braking speed estimates based upon tire/roadway coefficient of friction (drag factor) measurements and skid mark measurements Data for pre-braking and pre-skidding speeds were collected to determine if there were any correlations between pre-braking speeds and pre-skidding speeds. Braking tests were performed on two vehicles using various measurement devices including a fifth wheel, a speed gun, and a vericom 2000. The vehicle speeds, braking distances, skid mark distances, and deceleration histories were recorded. From these data. coefficients of friction and vehicle pre-skidding speeds for the tested road surface were calculated. The pre-skidding speeds were then compared to the actual pre-braking speeds of the vehicles in order to establish relationships between pre-skidding and pre-braking speed. A correlation between the Pre-skidding speed and the actual pre-braking speed was established for the study data.

단일 타겟을 이용한 반응성 마그네트론 스퍼터링 공정에 의한 나노 복합구조의 MoN-Cu 코팅층 형성 기술 개발

  • 에너지소비와 엔진 부품의 마모문제를 해결하기 위해, soft-phase를 doping한 hard상의 coating에 대한 실험이 최근 중요한 연구 테마로서 진행 중이다. 특히 MoN-Cu coating은 미국 Argon 연구소의 Erdemer박사 등에 의해, 고온 및 상온 윤활성이 우수한 코팅층으로 보고된 이후 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그러나 기존 연구는 Mo와 Cu의 원소타겟을 이용한 연구가 주력이 되었다. 높은 경도와 저온 고온에서의 낮은 나노 혼합물 코팅 종류는 일반적으로 Mo와 Cu와 같은 원소 합금을 이용한 다수 타겟을 이용한 공정에 의해 진행되어왔다. 이러한 복수의 타겟에 의해 증착 동안에는, 정확한 조성, 큰 크기의 시편들의 균일 증착을 조절하기가 쉽지 않다. 또한, 코팅층에 3번째 성분을 추가하기가 어렵다는 문제점이 있다. 본 연구에서는, 최상의 마찰계수와 표면경도를 보이는 MoN-Cu층을 형성시키기 위하여 합금으로 단일 타겟을 제조하였다. 이를 위한 최적 조성을 결정하기 위하여 Mo, Cu 단일 타겟을 이용한 Unbalanced Magnetron sputtering 법으로 다양한 Cu 함량의 MoN+Cu 합금을 제조하였으며, 이에 대한 경도 및 마찰계수 측정을 통해 최적의 Cu 함량을 결정하였다. 이러한 최적 조성의 Cu 타겟제조를 기계적 합금화와 Spark plasma sintering 기술을 이용하여 제작하였으며, 복수의 합금 타겟과 단일 합금 타겟으로 제조된 코팅층의 물성 비교를 통해 합금 타겟의 우수성 여부를 확인하고자 하였다. 증착된 두 조건의 물성을 비교 단일 타겟은 두가지 타겟으로 증착한 것보다 비슷한 조성에서 경도가 높았으며 경도가 비슷한 조성에서는 마찰계수가 낮았다. 또 입자는 10 at.% Cu 조성에 대해 단일타겟이 50nm 결정립을 갖는 반해 단일타겟은 측정이 불가능할 정도의 미세한 결정립을 가졌다. Erdemir의 연구 결과에 의하면, Cu 함량이 증가함에 따라 columnar 형태의 코팅층구조가 나노 구조로 변한다고 하였는데, 본 연구에서 복수의 원소 타겟에서는 확인이 안되었으며, 단일 합금 타겟에서 완벽한 featurless 형태의 코팅층 구조와 우수한 조도의 박막층을 얻을 수 있었다. 이렇게 제조된 다양한 코팅층에 대한 마찰계수 측정이 진행중이다.
