  • The study was intended to suggest the design alternatives and guidelines of village community center as a common living space for the elderly in rural area. First, two design alternatives were derived from the previous research which examined the conditions and old persons' needs of village community center. Then, the design guidelines were proposed on the basis of the previous research and the elderly's evaluation for those two alternatives. The subjects were 85 old residents who were more than 60 years old and lived in rural area in Gyungnam. The interview was carried out using a questionnaire, models, and isometrics of two alternatives. The subjects evaluated positively both of two alternatives. The design guidelines of village community center were derived as follows: Both of two alternatives can be used as a model of village community center. The dining and living space in the center should be opened and large. Both of indoor and outdoor toilet should be arranged in village community center. Also, each toilet for man and woman should be separated.

  • This study aimed to evaluate how users are satisfied with village community center. It will develope and determine a most detailed design and requirements to maximizing for user's convenience. The study conducted interview survey using questionnaire based on universal design principles, to users of village centers that are in possible of cooperation of 25 village centers in Haw Soon district, Jeonnam province and used 160 cases to the analysis. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, users showed most satisfaction about LDK space and dissatisfaction about design, stair/slope, entrance, and bathroom. Specially, users are dissatisfied with curtains at room and handralis at entrance. In terms of design, users about the indoor-outdoor environment as a whole was unsatisfactory. Second, survey on actual needs space scrutinized bathroom, kitchen, and stair/slope according to priority. In result of these surveys, user's satisfaction with village community center and actual needs space show needed improvements on bathroom and stair/slope space urgently.

  • This study aimed to evaluate how universal design principles are embodied in the village community center. It will provide preliminary data on constructing a physical space of village community center as small community space in agricultural districts. To achieving the purpose in this study, the research conducted inspection using checklist to 25 village community centers at Hwasoon, Jeonnam province. The conclusion of this study is as follows: Living room and kitchen/dining room by supportive design urgently need installation of Western Style furniture and solutions of stair gap by accessible design, and also the evaluation is unsuited on a fire-gas alarm system and prevention of electric shook system on safety-oriented design. Entrance evaluated in principle for insufficient on safety handle by supportive design and spare chair by adaptable design, and also it unsuited on the solutions of door sill by accessible design and non-skid by safety-oriented design. Bathroom is insufficient lever handle and safety grip by supportive design, sink isn't suitable by adaptable design. Outdoor space information legislation staircase ramp installation and horizontal installation of the staircase was not built.

  • The aim of this study is actual conditions to analyse of community center in Cheongweon-gun and propose operation method. In this study, I deduced some problems and proposed improvement planing corresponded to new needs through such as external appearance, inner space analysis, operating actual conditions analysis and etc., of existing community center in Cheongweon-gun. And I wish to present more efficient architectural space organization and operation method with these surveying results. The result of this study are as follows; Community center as representative community facilities is necessary to reflect of village characteristics on the exterior of buildings, and decision of scale and usage considered number of residents, visitors, and ages. For management of the community center, it is necessary of sustainable obtain of management cost, and provision against rebuilding and enlargement of building.

  • In this study, we survey the 2 buildings at the Central 1 and 8 buildings at the Central 2, which are divided by each climate region in the rural regions. Major heat loss factors are 47% loss of the outer shell including outer wall, roof, and bottom, 30% loss through window, and 23% loss through crevice wind. We analyze the energy simulation of ECO2 program to construct a zero energy building regarding village hall located in Jung Juk 4-le at Centeral 2. We simulate the primary energy requirement regarding village hall and the simulated results show the $265.3kWh/m^2{\cdot}a$ and it may estimate '2' energy efficiency grade. The energy requirement regarding village hall is the $183.2kWh/m^2{\cdot}a$ when the passive technology are applied in village hall. We research total amount of energy requirement in village hall when the passive and active technologies such as solar cell with 3kW and solar thermal with $20m^2$, geothermal power with 17.5kW. The simulated results show the improved energy efficiency certification grade with $1^{{+}{+}{+}}$ due to the reduced primary energy requirement with 73% when passive technology including 3kW of solar panel is applied and the energy independence rate is 54%, which is estimated to be 4th grade of zero energy buildings. The order of energy consumption are solar panel, solar thermal, and geothermal power under applied passive technology in the building. In order to expand the zero energy building, it is necessary to introduce the zero energy evaluation system in the rural region.
