A Study on the Wear Behavior of the Cu-TiB2 Composites (Cu-TiB2 복합재료의 마모거동에 관한 연구)

  • The titanium $diboride(TiB_2)$ has high strength(750MPa), high melting point $(3225^{\circ}C)\;and\;10\%$ IACS electrical conductivity. On this account, the dispersion hardening $Cu-TiB_2$ composites(MMCs) are a promising candidate for applications as electrical contact materials. MMCs for electrical contact materials can reduce material cost and resource consumption caused by wear, due to its good mechanical and electrical property. In this study, we attempt to prepare MMCs with various volume fraction and particle size of $TiB_2$ by means of hot extruded and cold drawn process. Dry sliding wear tests were performed on a pin-on-disk type wear tester, sliding against SM45C under the different applied loads. After wear testing, the microstructures of the worn surfaces were observed by SEM and the microhardnesses of the subsurface zone were measured.

Effect of TiC and AlN on the Wear Behavior and Mechanical Properties of Hypereutectic Al-Si Alloys (과공정 Al-Si 합금의 마모 거동과 기계적 성질에 미치는 TiC와 AlN의 영향)

  • In this study, the effect of the reinforcement on the wear behaviour and mechanical properties of hypereutectic Al-Si alloys was investigated. The Gas atomized hypereutectic Al-20Si alloy powders were mixed with 1, 3, and 5 wt.% AlN and TiC ceramic particles and consolidated by hotpress. The Al-20Si powder has both finely dispersed primary Si phases and eutectic structures. The Al-20Si-AlN, TiC composites showed that the reinforcements were distributed along the boundary of the Al-20Si alloy. The UTS increased with increasing the AlN, TiC contents. At a lower load, with an increasing weight fraction of reinforcements, the wear rate decreased in both composites and the wear mechanism was adhesive wear. At a higher load, the shape of the debris changes the mechanism of the AlN composites to abrasive-adhesion wear and this resulted in an increase of the wear rate.

  • The tribological behavior of CrMoN films with respect to surface chemistry was investigated by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). All of the films were prepared from a hybrid PVD system consisting of DC unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering and arc ion plating (AIP) sources. The tribological property of the films was evaluated by a friction coefficient using a Ball-on-disk type tribometer. The chemistry of wear track was analyzed by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and XPS. The friction coefficient was measured to be 0.4 for the CrMoN film, which is lower than that of a monolithic CrN film. EDS and XPS results imply the formation of an oxide layer on the coating surface, which was identified as molybdenum oxide phases, known to be a solid lubricant during the wear test.

  • Many railway-advanced countries are using the various types of track to reduce the track maintenance and repair cost according to the improvement of velocity. It spends on much maintenance and repair cost for ballast track due to abrasion of ballast, track irregularity and unisotropical ballast-support stiffness. The ballast track on railway bridge is accelerating the deterioration of ballast according to interaction of railway bridge and track. As continuing the deterioration, it is caused dynamic loads. Due to these effects, it increases negative loads of track and bridge. However, when designing the railway bridge, the effect of ballast track was applicate only dead load, so elastic behavior effect of ballast track is not influenced. Therefore, this paper presumes the stiffness of ballast track on railway bridge considering dynamic behavior of railway bridge, it was evaluated that effect on dynamic behaviors of railway bridge according to ballast track stiffness.

  • 4 mol% Yttria-stabilized zirconia (4YSZ) coatings are fabricated by Air Plasma Spray (APS) and Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition (EB-PVD) with top coating of thermal barrier coating (TBC). NiCrAlY based bond coat is prepared as 150 ${\mu}m$ thickness by conventional APS (Air Plasma Spray) method on the NiCrCoAl alloy substrate before deposition of top coating. Each 4YSZ top coating shows different tribological behaviors based on the inherent layer structures. 4YSZ by APS which has splat-stacked structure shows lower friction coefficient but higher wear rate than 4YSZ by EB-PVD which has columnar structure. For 4YSZ by APS, such results are expected due to the sliding wear accompanied with local delamination of splats.

  • Fretting wear test in room temperature air was performed to evaluate the wear mechanism of fuel rod using a fretting wear tester, which has been developed for experimental study. The main focus was to compare the wear behaviors of fuel rod against support springs at different contact geometries (i.e. concave and convex) and slip directions (axial and transverse). The wear on the tube was examined by the surface roughness tester, which measures the volume. The result indicated that with change of contact geometry from 5N of normal load to 0.1mm gap, wear volume of tube Increased in the condition of concave spring, but slowly decreased in convex spring. From the results of SEM observation, wear mechanism of each test condition was also depend on the above contact parameters. The wear mechanism of each test condition in room temperature air is discussed.

Friction Behavior of Oil-enriched Nanoporous Anodic Aluminum Oxide Film (오일 함침된 나노 기공 산화알루미늄 필름의 마찰 거동)

  • Friction behavior of nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide(AAO) film was investigated. A 60 ${\mu}m$ thick AAO film having nanopores of 45 nm diameter with 105 nm interpore-diatance was fabricated by mild anodization process. The AAO film was then saturated with paraffinic oil. Reciprocating ball-on-flat sliding friction tests using 1 mm diameter steel ball as the counterpart were carried out with normal load ranging from 0.1 N to 1 N in an ambient environment. The morphology of worn surfaces were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. The friction coefficient significantly increased with the increase of load. The boundary lubrication layer of paraffinic oil contributed to the lower friction at relatively low load (0.1 N), but it is less effective at high load (1 N). Plastic deformed layer patches were formed on the worn surface of oil-enriched AAO at relatively low load (0.1 N) without evidence of tribochemical reaction. On the other hand, thick tribolayers were formed on the worn surface of both oil-enriched and as-prepared AAO at relatively high load (1 N) due to tribochemical reaction and material transfer.

  • 금속을 반고상 상태에서 성형하기 위하여 미세조직학적 거동을 밝히기 위해, 본 연 구에서는 높은 비강도, 내마모성을 가진 과공정 Al-Si 합금을 반응고 가공하였을 때의 미세 조직과 상온 가공 후 반고상 온도로 일정시간 유지하였을 때의 미세조직을 관찰하였다. 일 반주조시의 개량 원소 P과 Sr을 첨가하였으며 쐐기형 주조재, 압연재, Si 입자강화 Alrl 복 합재료를 반고상 상태로 가열한 미세조직을 관찰하여 초정 Si입자의 형상 변화를 관찰하였 다. 반응고 교반시 초기에는 P과 Sr의 첨가에 의해 초정 Si입자가 미세화 되었으나 교반이 지속되어 가면서 이러한 경향은 감소하였으며 구상에 가까운 형태로 변화 하였는데, 이는 교반이 지속되면서 첨가 원소의 효과보다 교반 자체의 미세조직 변화 기구에의 의존도가 높 아지기 때문인 것으로 사료된다. 냉각속도를 달리한 쐐기 형상에서의 금형에서 주조된 미세 조직을 관찰한 결과 냉각속도가 느릴 때에만 첨가원소의 영향이 나타났으며, 반고상 온도 유지 후 초정 크기에는 큰 변화가 없었으나 $\alpha$-halo가 형성되고 미세한 Si입자가 생성되었 다. 이는 입자 크기의 성장에 따른 주위의 농도구배로 인해 생성된 것으로 사료된다. 압연시 첨가원소는 핵생성과 재결정을 촉진시켜 초정 Si의 크기를 크게 감소시켰다. 반용융 처리시 초정 Si입자는 약간 성장하였으며, $\alpha$-halo도 생성되었다. 압출한 시료를 반용융 처리한 경 우 Si입자의 형상 변화는 거의 없었으며, Si입자에 형성되어 있던 산화막이 기지와 초정 Si 압자간의 확산장벽으로 작용하여 $\alpha$-halo가 거의 생성되지 않았다. 반응고 교반시 미세조직 변화 기구로는 취성파괴, 합체, 마모를 제안하였으며, 각 공정에서의 초정 Si결정의 크기를 비교하였을 때 45$\mu\textrm{m}$ 이하의 분말을 섞어 압출하였을 때 가장 작은 초정 Si입자 크기를 얻음 을 볼 수 있었다.

이온빔 스퍼터링으로 제작된 다이아몬드상 카본 필름의 전계방출 특성

  • 다이아몬드상 카본은 경도, 열전도 둥이 다이아몬드와 비슷하면서도 박막 성장이 쉬워 다른 재료의 표면보호용 코탱막으로 웅용되고 있다. 최근에 다이아몬드상 카본 박막의 이러한 특성은 전계방출 음극 소자가 이온 충돌, 온도 상승에 의해 마모되는 것을 방지 하는데도 용용되고 있다. 이러한 보호막 기능뿐만 다이아몬드상 카본 박막용 편평한 기 판에 성장시켜 평판 전계방출 음극으로 이용하는 것도 시도되고 었다. 본 연구에서는 이 온빔 스퍼트링 방법으로 다이아몬드상 카본 박막을 성장시켰다. 합성하기 전 챔버의 기 본 압력은 3.2 X 10-7 Torr이었다. 기판으로는 타이타니움 평판, n-타엽의 실리콘 평판, I ITO가 코탱된 유리 평판올 사용하였으며, 중착 전에 기판올 400 V, 15 mA의 알곤 이온 으로 1분간 스퍼트링하여 불순물 막을 제거하였다. 박막 합성시에는 챔버 압력이 3.5 x 1 10-4 To$\pi$가 될 때까지 알곤을 채우고 알곤빔 전류는 30 mA에 고정시키고 빔 에너지를 각각 750, 1000, 1250 eV로 바꾸면서 타켓올 스퍼트랭하였다. 질소를 다이아몬드상 카본 박막애 첨가하면 n-타업 불순물 주입 효과가 있게된다. 질소가 첨가된 박막을 만들기 위 해서는 별도의 이온 총올 사용하여 탄소 타켓 스퍼트령과 동시에 기판에 질소 이온을 입 사시켰다. 만들어진 시료로부터 3 X 10-7 To$\pi$ 진공에서 전류-전압 특성올 조사하였다. 양극으로는 면평한 금속판올 음극 위 150 11m 높이에 셜치하였다. 박막의 물성은 전자 현미경, 오제 전자분광 둥으로 조사하였다. 다이아몬드상 카본 박막을 다른 종류의 편명 한 기판에 합성 조건올 바꾸면서 성장시켜 박악의 특성파 기판이 전계방출에 미치는 영 향을 조사하였다. 합성된 다이아몬드상 카본필름의 전자방출 특성은 기판의 종류와 필름 의 구조 및 필름의 두께에 따라 크게 변화하였다. 이러한 전자방출 거동으로부터 전계 방출 메커니즘을 제시하고자 하였다. 또한, 다이아몬드상 카본 박막으로부터의 전계방출 은 전기장올 인가하는 방법에도 영향을 받는다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 전기장올 순환 인 가하면서 전계방출 전후의 박막 특성 변화를 조사하여 전계방출 메커니즘올 연구하였다.

Characterizations of the Mechanical Properties and Wear Behavior of Ni Plate Fabricated by the Electroforming Process (Electroforming을 이용하여 제조한 Ni 기판의 기계적 특성 및 내마모 거동 분석)

  • We fabricated the Ni plate by electroforming process and evaluated the microstructure, mechanical properties and wear behavior of the Ni plate. Specifically, the effects of addition of wetting agents, SF 1 and SF 2 solutions, on the microstructure and properties were investigated. The microstructure and surface morphology were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), respectively, and friction coefficient was measured by the ball-on-disk method. We found that the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ni plate were changed with kind and amount of wetting agents used. The hardness and tensile strength of Ni plate formed without wetting agents was 228 Hv and 660.7 MPa, respectively, whiled when wetting agent was added, those were improved to be 739 Hv and 1286.3 MPa. These improvements were probably due to the finer grain size and less crystallization of Ni. In addition, when both wetting agents were added, the friction coefficient was reduced from 0.73 to 0.67 which is partially caused by the improved hardness and smooth surface.
