Evaluation on Filter/Adsorber Granular Activated Carbon using in Advanced Drinking Water Treatment: Abrasion number, Floater, Water-soluble ash, and Adsorption characteristics (고도정수처리용 Filter/Adsorber Granular Activated Carbon 특성 평가: 마모지수, floater, water-soluble ash 및 흡착특성 평가)

  • The characteristics of filter/adsorber granular activated carbon (F/A GAC) were investigated by measuring various parameters, which include surface area, pore volume, abrasion number, floater, and water-soluble ash. The correlation between parameters was also evaluated. Moreover, rapid small-scale column test (RSSCT) was conducted for adsorption characteristics. Thirteen F/A GAC were tested, and the average values of abrasion number and water-soluble ash were 88.9 and 0.15%, respectively. F/A GAC with the larger external surface area and greater mesopore volume had the lower abrasion number, which indicated that it was worn out relatively easily. Water-soluble ash of coconut-based GAC (about 2.6%) was greater than that of coal-based GAC (less than 1%), and the pH of solution was increased with GAC, which had the higher water-soluble ash. On the other hand, floater of thirteen F/A GAC was divided as two groups, which one group had relatively higher floater (2.7~3.5%) and the other group had lower floater (approximately 0.5%). The results of RSSCT indicated that coconut-based GAC (i.e. relatively higher water-soluble ash) had less adsorption capacity. Moreover, adsorption capacity of coal-based GAC with larger surface area and greater mesopore volume was superior to others.

Extraction Yield of Extruded Ginseng and Granulation of Its Extracts by Cold Extrusion-Spheronization (압출성형 수삼의 추출수율과 추출물의 저온압출 구형과립화)

  • The objectives of the experiment were to examine the effects of extrusion process variables on the yield of extruded ginseng extract and to determine the effect of ratio of extruded ginseng extract and microcrystalline cellulose on characteristics of spheronized granules by cold extrusion-spheronization process. Extrusion process variables observed were feed moisture (15, 22, 29%), die temperature (90 110 13$0^{\circ}C$) and screw speed (150 200, 250 rpm). The results showed that moisture content of dried ginseng significantly affected extraction yield (P<0.05). The less moisture content of the feed resulted in the higher yield of the extract. Moisture content of 15%, screw speed of 250 rpm and die temperature of 13$0^{\circ}C$ gave the highest yield of ginseng extract. Mean extraction yield of extruded ginseng using hot water extraction was greatly improved by extrusion process The extract yield of extruded ginseng was 43.5% which was higher than that of red ginseng (38.3%) and white ginseng (29.0%) produced by traditional process. It was possible to make from the mixture of microcrystalline cellulose (200 g) mixed with different concentration of 200 mL solution (0, 5, 20, 30 40 50 60% of ginseng extract with 59.2% dry solid) by using cold extrusion spheronization. When the concentration of ginseng extract Increased, the granulation yield was improved but friability and compression index were reduced. Ginseng extract such as saponin was completely released from spheronized granules in distilled water within 10 min. It can be concluded that spheroniged granule with ginseng extract could be packed in gelatin capsule since granules Possessed proper physical properties and quick release of saponin.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크는 경제적, 환경적 목적으로 다양한 방면에서 활용되고 있다 이 때, 배치된 각 센서의 위치를 파악하는 것은 센서 네트워크에서 가장 기본적이며 가장 중요한 문제 중의 하나이다. 기존 논문에서 제안된 센서 위치 측정 방법은 특별한 장비를 장착하거나 특정한 환경의 지역에 한정시킨 방범으로 제한하고 있는 경우가 대부분이다. 하지만 어떠한 관심 지역의 환경은 언제라도 바뀔 수 있다. 또한, 센서가 위치할 환경의 기온, 풍속 등을 미리 안다는 것은 비현실적인 가정이다. 더구나 각각의 센서에 특별한 장비를 장착한다는 것은 비용 절감을 이유로 센서 네트워크를 운영하는 경우 오히려 그것을 이용하지 않는 경우보다 비용이 더 들 수도 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 센서 노드의 기본적인 통신 기능은 이용하여, 환경에 순응적으로 센서의 위치를 측정할 수 있는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 센서 노드에서 기본적으로 제공하는 통신 기능은 RF 전파를 보낼 때 전송 레벨을 달리하여 보낼 수 있다. 이러한 기본적인 기능을 이용하여 위치를 측정하게 되면 전체적인 센서 네트워크의 비용이 절감될 뿐만 아니라 환경에 순응적인 위치 측정이 가능하게 된다. 또한, 각 노드의 위치가 정해진 후 다른 노드와 통신할 때 전파의 세기를 조정함으로써 RF 통신에서 소모되는 전력량을 줄일 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안하는 전송 레벨을 이용한 위치 측정 방법은 단순히 위치를 측정한다는 의미뿐 아니라 환경에 순응적으로 작동한다는 장점이 있다. 향후 네트워크 내에서 통신에 소비되는 전력을 줄일 수 있다는 점에서도 중요한 의미를 지닌다.를 집행하는 caspase의 활성 형태인 cleaved caspase-8, -9, -7, -3의 단백질 수준이 목향 헥산추출물의 처리에 의해 증가하였고 caspase-3의 표적 단백질 중 하나인 PARP의 불활성 형태인 cleaved PARP의 단백질 수준도 현저하게 증가하였다. 이 결과들은 목향 헥산 추출물이 LNCaP 세포의 apoptosis를 유도함으로써 전립선 암세포의 증식을 억제함을 보여주는 것이며 목향 헥산추출물에 의한 apoptosis 유도는 caspase 활성 증가와 Bak 및 t-Bid 단백질의 증가에 의한 것임을 제시한다. 따라서 앞으로 항암효과를 나타내는 성분의 동정 및 동물실험을 통하여 좀 더 면밀한 기전 연구가 수행된다면 목향 헥산추출물은 화학적 암예방 물질이나 치료제로 개발될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.적 분해층과 마모질이가 가장 깊은 것으로 나타났으며 flowable type의 복합레진과 컴포머는 표면 경도와 마모도에서 양호한 결과를 보였다. 이상의 결과 복합레진과 컴포머의 평가요소로서 마모도와 함께 가수분해도 고려되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.증후군 환자에서 대조군에 비해 높은 비율을 보였다.er thinning은 3 군모두에서 관찰되었고 항암 3 일군이 가장 심하게 나타났다. 이상의 실험결과를 보면 술전 항암제투여가 초기에 시행한 경우에는 조직의 치유에 초기 5 일정도까지는 영향을 미치나 7 일이 지나면 정상범주로 회복함을 알수 있었고 실험결과 항암제 투여후 3 일째 피판 형성한 군에서 피판치유가 늦어진 것으로 관찰되어 인체에서 항암 투여후 수술시기는 인체면역계가 회복하는 시기를 3

De-duplication of Parity Disk in SSD-Based RAID System (SSD 기반의 RAID 시스템에서 패리티 디스크의 중복 제거)

  • RAID systems have been widely used by connecting several disks in parallel structure. to resolve the delay and bottleneck of data I/O. Recently, SSD based RAID systems are emerging since SSDs have better I/O performance than HDD. However, endurance and power consumption problems due to frequent write operation in SSD based RAID system should be resolved. In this paper, we propose a de-duplication method of parity disk in SSD based RAID system with expensive update cost. The proposed method segments chunk of parity data into small pieces and removes duplicate data, therefore, it can reduce wear-leveling and power consumption by decreasing write operation for duplicated parity data. Experimental results show that bit update rate of the proposed method is 16% in total disk, 31% in parity disk less than that of existing method in RAID-6 system using EVENODD erasure code, and the power consumption of the proposed method is 30% less than that of existing method. Besides the proposed method is 12% in total disk, 32% in parity disk less than that of existing method in RAID-5 system, and the power consumption of the proposed method is 36% less than that of existing method.

A Study on the Fabrication of 2700 Series Al-alloy Sintered for Automobile Application (자동차 부품용 2700계열 Al소결체 제작에 관한 연구)

  • In order to use as weight-reduced sintered parts for automobiles, mechanical properties of sintered compacts of 2712 Al-alloys containing 0, 10, 20, and 33% ceramics, respectively, were investigated in this study. (1)Regardless of ceramic contents, all sintered compacts possessed 4~7% pores. (2)After aging the compacts sintered for 12 minutes, tensile strength of the 2712 Al-alloys containing 0, 10, 20, and 33% ceramics was 165, 260, 256, and 166 N/$mm^2$, respectively, whereas those aged after sintering for 30 minutes exhibited the tensile strength of 186, 229, 219, and 202 N/$mm^2$, respectively. In addition, the 2712 sintered compact containing 10% ceramics showed the maximum elongation of about 3.6%, (3)After aging the 10% ceramic-containing sintered compacts reached a maximum apparent hardness ($H_RF$) of 97. (4)The minimum wear volume ($174{\times}10^{-3}mm^3$) was shown in the 10% ceramic-containing 2712 sintered compact after aging. From these results, the 2712 sintered compact containing 10% ceramics thought to be the most suitable one for the fabrication of aluminum engine part.

S/B 라텍스 특성에 따른 커튼코팅용 도공액의 커튼안정성 변화

  • 기존 도공지 생산 공정에서 널리 사용되던 블레이드 도공방식을 대체할 수 있을 것으로 기대되는 커튼코팅 방식은 스크래치, 스트릭, 미스팅, 블레이드의 마모등을 발생시키지 않고 고고형분 도공이 가능하며 우수한 커버리지를 갖는 도공층을 형성시킬 수 있다는 장점을 갖고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 하나의 코팅 유닛에서 여러개의 도공층을 한번에 형성시킬 수 있어 설비투자비용 및 건조에너지, 공간활용도 절감 측면에서도 한층 유리하다. 커튼 코팅 방식에서 도공액의 유동은 도공액이 필름 형태로 사출되는 sheet forming zone, 도공액 커튼이 낙하하는 curtain flow zone, 도공액 커튼이 원지와 접촉하는 impingement zone으로 나뉜다. 커튼 코팅이 이루어지기 위해서는 sheet forming zone과 curtain flow zone에서 도공액이 얇은 막 상태를 안정적으로 유지하고 impingement zone에서는 고속으로 이송되는 도공원지에 의한 급격한 신장 조건에서 도공액 필름이 끊어지지 않고 유지되어야 한다. 이를 위해 유화제를 통해 동적 표면 장력을 낮초고 rheology modifier를 통해 점도 및 신장점도를 조절해 도공액의 커튼 안정성을 부여하는 연구가 보고된 바 있다. 도공액 제조시 바인더로 널리 사용되는 S/B 라텍스는 입도, 유리전이온도, 표면전하 등 그 특성을 달리하여 제조할 수 있으며 이러한 특성에 따라 도공액의 점도와 같은 유변특성이 변화하여 도공액의 커튼 안정성에 영향할 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 입자경과 유리전이온도, 카르복실화 정도 등을 달리한 다양한 S/B 라텍스를 사용하여 유변특성을 달리한 도공액을 제조하고 커튼 안정성의 변화를 살펴보고자 하였다.

Evaluation of Fretting Fatigue Behavior for Railway Axle Material (철도 차축재료의 프레팅 피로거동 평가)

  • Fretting is a kind of surface damage mechanism observed in mechanically jointed components and structures. The initial crack under fretting damage occurs at lower stress amplitude and lower cycles of cyclic loading than that under plain fatigue condition. This can be observed in automobile and railway vehicle, fossil and nuclear power plant, aircraft etc. In the present study, railway axle material RSA1 used for evaluation of fretting fatigue life. Plain and fretting fatigue tests were carried out using rotary bending fatigue tester with proving ring and bridge type contact pad. Through these experiments, it is found that the fretting fatigue limit decreased about 37% compared to the plain fatigue limit. In fretting fatigue, the wear debris is observed on the contact surface, and oblique cracks at an earlier stage are initiated in contact area. These results can be used as useful data in a structural integrity evaluation of railway axle.

  • As the satellite system becomes more complex, the probability of unpredictable failures may be increased due to design inadequacy, experience deficiency, lack of problem recognition. Poor quality control, improper testing, and workmanship fault. Consequently, these problems can lead to the reduction or end of the satellite mission lifetime. This article addresses general satellite failure modes and factors influencing satellite mission life. The mission life factors of LEO sun-synchronous KOMPSAT spacecraft are investigated, in which its mission life is predicted based on these factors. Since the end of mission due to random failures is not predictable, the predictable mission life factors such as power budget, propellant budget, battery charging/discharging cycle, radiation effects payload reliability, single point failure, and redundancy are primarily investigated.

  • The basis of all approaches to improve reliability of marine engines exists in analyzing the field data of troubles and failures on marine engines. This paper analyses the data of troubles and failures on marine engines by Principal Component Analysis Method, one of Multivariate Data Analysis Method. The total number of data investigated is 211 and the observation period is 9 years. The analyzed factors are categorized among five groups respectively; electric.automatic control equipments, auxiliary machinery, pipings, refrigerators.air conditioners, and main engine. The failures in main engine are discovered by a definite fact of disorder, on the contrary, the failures in auxiliary machinery, refrigerators and air conditioners are discovered by sensible judgement of the operators.

  • Fretting damage can be observed in automobile and railway vehicle, fossil and nuclear power plant, aircraft etc. In the present study, railway axle material RSA1 used for evaluation of fretting fatigue life. Plain and fretting fatigue tests were carried out using rotary bending fatigue tester with proving ring and bridge type contact pad. Through these test, the following results are obtained: 1) it is found that the fretting fatigue limit of standard specimen decreased about 37% compared to the plain fatigue limit. 2) The early crack of Shinkansen type specimens initiated in contact area and final fractured below samp=214 MPa. 3) The early crack of all TGV type specimens initiated in rounded area and fractured. 4) Tire tracks and rubbed scars were observed in the oblique crack region and fatigue crack growth region of fracture surface. 5) The wear debris is observed on the contact surface, and oblique cracks at an earlier stage are initiated in contact area. These results can be used as useful data in a structural integrity evaluation of railway axle.
