In order to describe runoff characteristics of urban drainage area, outflow from subbasins divided by considering topography and flow path, is analyzed through stormwater system. In doing so, concentration time and time-area curve change significantly according to basin shape, and runoff characteristics are changed greatly by these attributes. Therefore, in this development study of FFC2Q model by MLTM, we aim to improve the accuracy in analyzing runoff by adding a module that considers basin shape, giving it an advantage over popular urban hydrology models, such as SWMM and ILLUDAS, that can not account for geometric shape of a basin due to their assumptions of unit subbasin as having a simple rectangular form. For subbasin shapes, symmetry types (rectangular, ellipse, lozenge), divergent types (triangle, trapezoid), and convergent types (inverted triangle, inverted trapezoid) have been analyzed in application of time-area curve for surface runoff analysis. As a result, we found that runoff characteristic can be quite different depending on basin shape. For example, when Gunja basin was represented by lozenge shape, the best results for peak flow discharge and overall shape of runoff hydrograph were achieved in comparison to observed data. Additionally, in case of considering subbasin shape, the number of division of drainage basin did not affect peak flow magnitude and gave stable results close to observed data. However, in case of representing the shape of subbasins by traditional rectangular approximation, the division number had sensitive effects on the analysis results.
Variations in growth and yield of adlay(Coix lachyma-jobi var. ma-yuen Stapf) was monitored in farmer's fields in Yunchon, the main producing area in Korea, where the field condition showed difference in topograyphy, crop rotation, and ridge shape. Rotation cropping increased remankably stem length, and number of effective tillers, reduced the occurrence of leaf blight and crop damage by the disease, and in addition showed positive effect to repress the occurrence of stem-borerin upland field. Stem length was greater in upland field than in paddy field and this result seemed to be related to lodging degree. The even field with crop rotation system showed the highest seed yield and followed by hillside field and paddy field resulted the lowest yield.
For the selection of plants contained pesticidal active conpounds, 31 families 59 species of native plants were collected and biological activites of their crude extracts against brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens), Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and allelopathy were examined. Among the screened plants, the crude extracts from the leaves of Ricinus communis and Sophora angustifolia showed 100% and 82% of mortality on brown planthopper at the concentration of 1% (w/v) respectively. Mixed crude extracts of Sophora angustifolia root and Melia azedarach seed exhibited 128${\sim}$155% of synergistic effects on the mortality of brown planthopper. In case of fungicidal activity, the crude extracts from the leaves of 8 plants including Chrysanthemum indicum were inhibitory of the growth of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae at 1%(w/v) soluction. Seed germination of radish (Raphanus sativas) and barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli) was inhibited by 0.5%(w/v) leaf extracts of Pinus densiflora and Quercus acutissima. MeOH extracts of Pinus denislora leaves gave 100% inhibition in seed germintion of radish at 2%(w/v) soluction and showed a complete inhibition in seedling growth of barnyardgrass as well as radish at 5% solution.
Forty one compounds such as ester, sulfonyl ester, carbamate, ether and phosphoyl ester derivatives of thymol(I) and carvacrol(II) were synthesized. These derivatives were identified by IR, GC/MS and $^1H$-NMR spectra. Their antifungal activities were tested against various plant pathogenicfugi. Among them, several compounds were showed potent in vivo antifungal activities. The selected compounds showing in vitro antifungal activities were tested in vivo antifungal activities aganint 5 plant diseases such as rice blast, rice sheath blight, tomato late blight, cucumber anthracnose, and cucumber gray mold. As a result, 2-isopropyl-5-methylphenylacetate(I-1a) effectively suppressed the development cucumber gray mold and rice blast. Methyl(2-isopropyl-5-methylphenoxy)acetate(I-6d) and ethyl 4-(5-methyl-2-isopopylphenoxy)crotonate(I-7d) also showed potent in vivo antifungal actively againt rice sheath blight and tomato late blight, respectively.
Fifty compounds such as ester, sulfonyl ester, carbamate, ether and phosphoyl ester derivatives of 4-isopropyl-3-methylphenol(I) and 5-isopropyl-3-methylphenol(II) were synthesized. These derivatives were identified by IR, GC/MS and $^1H$-NMR spectra. Their in vitro antifungal activities were tested against 10 plant pathogenic fungi. Among them, several compounds showed potent in vitro antifungal activity. The selected compounds showing potent in vitro antifungal activity were tested for their in vivo antifungal activities against 5 plant diseases such as rice blast, rice sheath blast, cucumber anthracnose, cucumber gray mold and tomato late blight. As a result, 4-isopropyl-3-methylphenyl(2-amino-thiazole-4-yl)methoxyiminoacetate(I-7a) showed a potent in vivo antifungal activity against rice blast. Both methyl (4-isopropyl-3-methylphenoxy)acetate(I-4d) and methyl (5-isopropyl-3-methylphenoxy)acetate(II-4d) effectively inhibited the development of cucumber gray mold.
[ ${\alpha},{\beta}$ ]-Unsaturated carboxamides 12 with trifluromethylated dihydro-1,4-dithiins were synthesized for the purpose of development of new agrochemical fungicide. Chlorination of trifluoromethylated ${\beta}$-ketoester 4 followed by tile reaction with 1,2-ethanedithiol gave intermediate 1,4-dithiane 9. Without purification of 9 substitution of hydroxy by chlorine followed by dehydrochlorination in the presence of triethylamine afforded trifluoromethylated dihydro-1,4-dithiin ethyl ester 7. Activation of the hydroxy of the carboxylic acid 10 obtained from the hydrolysis of 7 and then reacted with various amines gave the corresponding trifluoromethylated dihydro-1,4-dithiin carboxamides. Antifungal screening (in vivo) against typical plant diseases, Rice Blast, Rice Sheath Blight, Cucumber Gray Mold, Tomato Late Blight, Wheat Leaf Rust, and Barley Powdery Mildew of the synthesized compounds was carried out. As a result, most of the compounds shlowed weak antifungal activities and some compounds in which isopropyl group was substituted in meta of the phenyl showed antifungal activity (99%) at 250 ppm against the disease Wheat Leaf Rust.

Deicing salt is used to melt snow and ice on the road for traffic safety during the winter season, which accumulates in the roadside vegetation and induces visible injuries. The damage may accelerate particularly when it coincides with early spring leaf out. In order to better understand the response mechanisms, C. kousa (3-year-old) was irrigated twice prior to leaf bud in a rhizosphere with solutions of 0.5, 1.0, and 3.0% calcium chloride ($CaCl_2$) concentration, that were made by using an industrial $CaCl_2$ reagent practical deicing material in Seoul. Physiological traits of the mature leaves were progressively reduced by $CaCl_2$ treatment, resulting in reductions of total chlorophyll contents, chlorophyll a:b, photosynthetic rate, quantum yield, stomatal conductance, $F_V/F_M$, and NPQ. On the contrary, light compensation point and dark respiration were increased at high $CaCl_2$ concentration. A decrease in intercellular $CO_2$ concentration by stomatal closure first resulted in a reduced photosynthetic rate and then was accompanied by low substance metabolic rates and photochemical damage. Based on the reduction of physiological activities at all treatments ($CaCl_2$ 0.5%, 1.0%, and 3.0%), C. kousa was determined as one of the sensitive species to $CaCl_2$.

In this study, two types of wetland plants, Eichhornia crassipes (a floating plant) and Ceratophyllum demersum (a submerged plant) were introduced to wetland mesocosms to understand how the water properties of wetlands such as pH, dissolved oxygen content, water temperature, oxidation reduction potential, and nutrient concentrations are affected by different types of wetland plant. The floating plant lives on the water surface and can block light penetration; it exhibited the lowest water temperature and temperature difference between lower and upper layers. After the addition of contaminants, the dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration decreased abruptly but recovered continuously in all mesocosms; especially the submerged plants, which photosynthesize in water, showed the largest increases in DO and diel periodicity DO, as well as in pH value. The oxidation-reduction potential in both water and sediment were affected by the presence of wetland plants and plant type and the results suggest that various aspects of wetland biogeochemistry are affected by the presence and type of wetland plants. The total nitrogen and phosphorous concentrations in water decreased in the following order: Water only < Water + Soil < Floating Plants < Submerged Plants. Although both floating and submerged plants can control algal concentrations, the effect was more prominent for floating plants.
Habit characteristics of imperfect and perfect stage of D. bryoniae encountered on naturally infected seeds of cucumber and pumpkin were studied by the blotter method and compared with those grown on Difco potato dextrose agar (PDA), V-8 juice agar and water agar leaf medium (WALM). Most of the pycnidiospores obtained from each isolate of this fungus grown on PDA were non-septate and microtype. Non-septate pycnidiospores were predominanted in all isolates, but a macrotype of the non-septate and a number of uniseptate pycnidiospores were produced on V-8 juice agar and water agar leaf medium. On seed the pycnidiospores were mostly non -septate, but rarely uniseptate ones were also found. On radicle of cucumber seed, the pycnidiospores were non-septate and uniseptate but small percentage biseptate with somewhat constricted at septa. Pycnidiospores produced on V-8 juice agar and water agar leaf medium were similar to those produced on seeds. In the present investigation the perithecia were mostly globose to subglobose with apical papillate ostiole and whitish spore masses formed on the ostiole of perithecia, either on naturally infected seed or on culture media. The mature perithecia were dark brown to black. They were partially embedded or erumpent on seed coat and culture media. The perithecia varied in size within a much narrower range than the pycnidia. But perithecial formation of this fungus on PDA, V-8 juice agar, WALM and seed varied considerably depending upon isolate and culture media.
