A Fast Route Selection Mechanism Considering Channel Statuses in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 채널 상태를 고려하여 빠른 경로를 선택하는 기법)

  • We have presented a routing mechanism that selects a route by considering channel statuses in order to fast transfer delay-sensitive data in WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks). The existing methods for real-time data transfer select a path whose latency is the shortest or the number of hops is the smallest. An algorithm to select a real-time transfer path based on link error rates according to the characteristic of wireless medium was also suggested. However, the propagation delay and retransmission timeout affected by link error rates are shorter than channel assessment time and backoff time. Therefore, the mechanism proposed in this paper estimated the time spent in using a clear channel and sending out a packet, which is based on channel backoff rates. A source node comes to select a route with the shortest end-to-end delay as a fast transfer path for real-time traffic, and sends data along the path chosen. We found that this proposed mechanism improves the speed of event-to-sink data transfer by performing experiments under different link error and channel backoff rates.

  • 무선 링크는 유선에 비해 대역폭이 낮고 에러율이 높은 고유한 특성에 기인한 단절이 자주 발생하게 된다. 분산 응용 구축 수단인 RMI는 메소드 호출 중에 발생하는 단절로 인해 심각한 성능저하가 유발된다. 하지만 기존의 RMI는 단절에 대한 어떠한 대책도 마련하지 않고 있다. 본 논문은 RMI의 하부 구조를 수정하여 RMI가 무선 링크의 단절에 적응하도록 한다.

  • 비균등 에러 보호에 의한 IMT-2000용 CDMA 순방향 링크의 성능개선 방법을 나타 내었다. 제안된 방법의 성능은 다경로 페이딩채널 및 BPSK변조에 대한 CS-ACELP 음성부 호화기 및 RCPC 채널부호화기를 이용하여 분석되었다. CS-ACELP 부호화기의 비트 에러 감도 정보에 근거한 연계성능분석 결과제안된 방법은 SEGSNR이 0.4∼1dB 개선되었다. 또 한 총전송율 및 전력제어비트를 펑처링하지 않고도 기존 구조를 유연성있게 변경 가능하다.

  • 현재 가장 널리 쓰이는 수송계층 프로토콜인 TCP는 패킷 손실의 원인을 망의 혼잡 때문에 일어난다고 가정하고 있으므로 기존의 유선망과 고정 호스트로 이루어진 전통적인 네트워크에 적합하다. 그러나 무선 링크에서의 패킷 손실은 대부분 혼잡에 의해서가 아니라 높은 에러율과 핸드오프에 의해 발생하게 되므로 기존의 TCP를 그대로 사용하면 불필요한 혼잡제어 메커니즘의 호출로 성능의 저하를 가져온다. 현재까지 무선환경에 적합한 TCP를 위한 많은 방안이 제시되고 있지만 근본적인 해결책을 제시하지 못하고 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 기법은 패킷손실이 유선링크에서 일어나는 것인지, 무선링크에서 일어나는 것인지를 판별하여 패킷손실이 유선링크에서 일어난 경우는 기존의 혼잡제어 메커니즘을 호출하여 재전송하고, 무선링크에서 일어난 경우는 혼잡제어 메커니즘을 호출하지 않고 재전송 하여 성능을 개선한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 TCP를 사용한 위성망에서의 문제점을 도출하고 그에 대한 성능향상 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 긴 전파 지연과 높은 에러율을 지닌 위성링크는 TCP의 성능을 현저히 떨어뜨린다. 특히 TCP에서는 에러에 의한 세그먼트 손실도 Congestion에 의한 손실로 판단하여 Slow Start나 Congestion Avoidance 알고리즘을 적용시킨다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 에러에 의한 손실과 Congestion의한 손실을 구분해 주는 ENA(Error Notification Ack) 알고리즘을 제안했다. 그리고 위성에서 좋은 성능을 나타내는 SACK TCP에 이 알고리즘을 적용시켜 성능을 평가했다.

  • In this paper, we design the radio data link protocols with QoS provisioning for mobile multimedia such as voice, data, and video in CDMA-based ATM networks, and analyze the performance of the data link protocols. To support mobile multimedia traffic, the required QoS parameters and the characteristics are analyzed, and wireless protocol stacks are proposed for integrating the wireless access network and ATM transport networks, and radio data link protocols are designed for provisioning QoS Control. The data link protocols are analyzed assuming that the system is supporting voice and data traffic simultaneously. In case of data traffic, the delay and throughput of SREJ ARQ and Type-1 Hybrid ARQ scheme are compared, and in case of voice traffic, the packet loss rate of BCH coding is analyzed according to the varying data traffic loads. The results indicate that the adaptive radio link protocols are efficient to support QoS requirements while the complexities are increased.

  • This paper presents a routing mechanism to prolong the lifetime of error-prone wireless sensor networks. The proposed mechanism estimates the amount of energy consumption for communications and the expected residual energy in advance, which is based on the qualities of wireless links. Then, the proposed mechanism selects a path that is expected to have the most residual energy, and sends sensory data along the path. This mechanism reduces energy consumption caused by unnecessary retransmissions and distributes traffic evenly over the network owing to taking error rates into consideration, and extends energy depletion by selecting a path with the maximum of the minimal expected residual energy amounts. The experiment results show that the proposed mechanism prolongs network lifetime, compared to the existing methods.

An Enhanced Wireless TCP protocol based on Explicit Error Notification (에러 보고를 통한 무선 TCP의 성능 향상)

  • When a packet loss occurs in a communication network operating a TCP protocol, the TCP protocol regards it that the loss has resulted from network congestion. Then the TCP protocol performs congestion control. When it is applied to the wireless network having quite a high BER characteristics, the performance of TCP protocol is degraded very much. In this paper, we propose an Explicit Error Notification(EEN) algorithm to improve the performance of the wireless TCP When a packet loss occurs in the wireless network, the TCP receiver decodes the TCP segment sequence number and the address of the TCP sender and receiver, and then informs the TCP sender of the error in wireless network by sending a NACK. It is to distinguish packets in error from losses of network congestion. In this paper, the performance of the proposed EEN algorithm is analyzed and simulated. In fact, as more errors are corrected, the proposed algorithm shows a larger improvements in performance.

  • We propose and demonstrate a searching and autoalignment method for indoor optical wireless communication, using a cost-effective retroreflective sheet and a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) mirror. We use an extremum-seeking method for a single axis and beam steering with a MEMS mirror to maintain a line of sight (LOS) with the optical link. This autoalignment method shows a receiver sensitivity of -31.87 dBm for a bit rate of 2.5 Gb/s over a 7 m communication link.

  • In this paper, we induced that the noise powers and bit error rate of direct detection receiver taking account of ISI (intersymbol interference) in the 2,000 km optical transmission system. And we evaluated the sensitivity in the vrious bit rate system. We verified that the proposed calculation method is applicable to the exact optical system. And we confirmed that the signal distortion due to both chromatic dispersion and nonlinear effects compensated by using of MSSI (Mid-Span Spectral Inversion) method, and yet the sensitivity of a higher bit rate system is reduced, because of the increase of ISI and then the decrease of the average receiving power, compared with a the lower bit rate system.
