  • This paper aims at deriving an equivalent finite dimensional discrete-time system for $H{\infty}$ type problem for sampled-data control systems. A widely used approach is based on the lifting technique, but it needs somewhat complicate computation. Instead, this paper derives an equivalent finite-dimensional discrete-time system directly from a description of the sampled-data system which is achieved via a closed-loop expression of the worst-case intersample disturbance.

  • 기존의 멀티레이트 입력 (MRIC) 제어기는 제어 입력신호에 채터링 현상이 발생하여 추종응답에 리플이 발생하는 문제점이 있다. 이러한 리플현상을 해결하기 위해 피드포워드 보상기를 이용하여 이런 리플현상을 제거하는 방법이 제시되기도 하였다. 본 논문에서는 상태 공간에서 현재 추종기를 기반으로 리프팅 기법을 이용한 멀티레이트 입력제어기 설계를 소개한다. 본 제어기를 사용함으로써 제어입력 신호가 채터링이 생기지않음을 이산전달함수 관점에서 최종치 정리를 이용하여 증명한다.

VLSI Design for Folded Wavelet Transform Processor using Multiple Constant Multiplication (MCM과 폴딩 방식을 적용한 웨이블릿 변환 장치의 VLSI 설계)

  • This paper presents a VLSI design for lifting-based discrete wavelet transform (DWT) 9/7 filter using multiplierless multiple constant multiplication (MCM) architecture. This proposed design is based on the lifting scheme using pattern search for folded architecture. Shift-add operation is adopted to optimize the multiplication process. The conventional serial operations of the lifting data flow can be optimized into parallel ones by employing paralleling and pipelining techniques. This optimized design has simple hardware architecture and requires less computation without performance degradation. Furthermore, hardware utilization reaches 100%, and the number of registers required is significantly reduced. To compare our work with previous methods, we implemented the architecture using Verilog HDL. We also executed simulation based on the logic synthesis using $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS standard cells. The proposed architecture shows hardware reduction of up to 60.1% and 44.1% respectively at 200 MHz clock compared to previous works. This implementation results indicate that the proposed design performs efficiently in hardware cost, area, and power consumption.

Design of Multiplierless Lifting-based Wavelet Transform using Pattern Search Methods (패턴 탐색 기법을 사용한 Multiplierless 리프팅 기반의 웨이블릿 변환의 설계)

  • This paper presents some improvements on VLSI implementation of lifting-based 9/7 wavelet transform by optimization hardware multiplication. The proposed solution requires less logic area and power consumption without performance loss compared to previous wavelet filter structure based on lifting scheme. This paper proposes a better approach to the hardware implementation using Lefevre algorithm based on extensions of Pattern search methods. To compare the proposed structure to the previous solutions on full multiplier blocks, we implemented them using Verilog HDL. For a hardware implementation of the two solutions, the logical synthesis on 0.18 um standard cells technology show that area, maximum delay and power consumption of the proposed architecture can be reduced up to 51%, 43% and 30%, respectively, compared to previous solutions for a 200 MHz target clock frequency. Our evaluation show that when design VLSI chip of lifting-based 9/7 wavelet filter, our solution is better suited for standard-cell application-specific integrated circuits than prior works on complete multiplier blocks.

  • In this paper, the biomedical signal compression method, which is combined with the multi-stage vector quantization and wavelet lifting scheme, is proposed. It utilizes the property of wavelet coefficients that give emphasis on approximation coefficients. The transmitted codebook index consists of the code vectors obtained by wavelet lifting coefficients of ECG and error signals from the 1024 block length, respectively. Each codebook is adaptively updated by the method comparing to the distance of input codevectors with candidate codevectors by using an pre-defined threshold value. The proposed compression method showed blow 3% in term of PRD and 276.62 bits/sec in term of CDR.

  • The purpose of this study is to design a toilet lifting seat to prevent falls accidents in the elderly while using the toilet. Prior to design, laws and national standards related to restroom use were investigated and the available space for the assistive devices to be installed was determined. In additions, considering the body size and operating range of the elderly, the optimal final position of the toilet seat is set so that users can use it more safely and conveniently without external help. Moreover, in order to provide an effective standing assistance function, a complex 4-bar link structure was applied to enable simultaneous seat elevation and angle adjustment when operating the device, and the appropriate link shape and dimensions were determined using a linkage program and UG NX. FEA analysis using ANSYS Workbench is performed to ensure the robustness of the stretched linkage and the feasibility of the lifting seat is verified through fabrication.

  • This paper analyses the torque characteristics of the shoulder and elbow joints of a humanoid robot arm that is useful for an object lifting and transferring task instead of human beings. For the purpose, some typical human lifting behaviors are considered, and various simulations for lifting and transferring an object have been performed by employing a humanoid robot arm having a simple configuration of shoulder and elbow joints. Through the simulation, it is shown that the torque patterns and ranges of the shoulder and elbow joints required for such a humanoid lifting and transferring task can be found earlier in the design of a humanoid robot arm. As a result, this effort is useful for us to design an effective robot arm.

  • In this paper, we propose motion estimation and compensation using Low-Band-Shift(LBS) with Integer Lifting Shift property. To overcome shift-variant property on wavelet coefficients, the LBS was previously proposed. This method which is applied to reference frame in video coding technique has superior performance in terms of rate-distortion characteristic. However, this method needs more memory and computational complexity. For the enhancement of those disadvantages, we propose motion estimation using Low-Band-Shift with Integer Lifting. The Integer Lifting implementation gives us good efficiency of calculation and storage.

Lifting Analysis Considering Three Dimensional Dynamic Responses of a Boom based on Finite Element Formulation (유한요소 붐 모델의 3차원 동적 거동을 고려한 리프팅 해석)

  • In this paper, the lifting analysis of a floating crane with a shipbuilding block is performed. Since floating cranes are operated in ocean waves, six degree-of-freedom motions are considered in the dynamic equations of motions of the floating crane and the block. The boom of the floating crane is considered as an elastic body in the analysis, and is modeled as three dimensional beam based on the finite element formulation. The hydrostatic and hydrodynamic forces by a regular wave are considered as external forces. By solving the equations of motions numerically, the dynamic responses of the floating crane and the block are simulated. The simulation results with different wave directions are compared and the conditions which cause maximum responses are discussed.
