  • Constructing super-tall buildings is significantly different from constructing general ones in every technological and managerial aspects. Especially lift-car operations planning and management is one of core parts among various management techniques required during the course of the whole construction process of the super-tall buildings because vertical movements of physical resources enormously affect the efficiency of the construction processes. However, discrepancy between lifting plans and actual lifting operations causes serious efficiency problems. As an effort to solve the problem, this research suggests an improved method of estimating resource-based lifting load. The computing model developed as a result of this research facilitates more accurate computation of the total operation time and the maximum lifting capacity of the lift-cars. Further, this research can be developed as a decision support system for the total lift-car operations management.

  • In this paper, Improved productivity models of container terminal are provided by utilizing a simulation considering Tandem-lift Quay Crane and transport vehicle of container's high productivity 'Alternative ship-to-yard vehicles.' Feature of this method is deriving the data of tandem-lift Quay Crane and Alternative ship-to-yard vehicles, estimating the productivity model of tandem-lift Quay Crane by using regression analysis. Tandem-lift Quay Crane is equipment of loading and unloading to increase productivity approximately by 2 time existing (single, twin) Quay Crane by dealing with four 20ft containers or two 40ft containers at the same. Alternative ship-to-yard vehicles can transfer containers(4TEU) more than existing Yard Tractor. This paper is deriving the optimal combination showing the highest productivity by using simulation considering Tandem-lift Quay Crane and Alternative ship-to-yard vehicles on container terminals and developing estimating model of productivity by using regression analysis using data of simulation.

  • Recently, the number of super high-rise building projects have been increased after recovering from international financial crisis. In super high-rise building project, vertical lifting is critical to overall project productivity, due to its limited lifting equipments. Also for projects which buildings' height are higher than 400m, transfer operation in lifting is inevitable because of lifts' maximum lifting height. In transfer operation, setting a transfer floor is essential for saving lifting time of resources. In this research, using discrete event simulation modeling with AnyLogic 7.0 software and metaheuristic optimization with OptQuest software, the method of optimizing a transfer floor for workers during the morning peak time is proposed. Comparing to the result of the case which transfer floor is designated to the middle floor, setting optimized transfer floor significantly decrease the total lifting time of workers. By using proposed simulation and optimization tool, saving budget and time through increasing available working hour is expected.

  • Mantle heterogeneity is closely related to the distribution and circulation of volatile components in the Earth's interior, and the behavior of volatiles in the mantle strongly influences the rheological properties of silicate rocks. In mantle xenoliths, these physicochemical properties of the upper mantle can be recorded in the form of microstructures and fluid inclusions. In this paper, I summarized and reviewed the results of previous studies related to the characteristics of microstructures and fluid inclusions from peridotite xenoliths beneath the Rio Grande Rift (RGR) in order to understand the evolution and heterogeneity of upper mantle. In the RGR, the mantle peridotites are mainly reported in the rift axis (EB: Elephant Butte, KB: Kilbourne Hole) and rift flank (AD: Adam's Diggings) regions. In the case of the former (EB and KB peridotites), the type-A lattice preferred orientation (LPO), formed under low-stress and low-water content, was reported. In the case of the latter (AD peridotites), the type-C LPO, formed under low-stress and high-water content, was reported. In particular, in the case of AD peridotites, at least two fluid infiltration events, such as early (type-1: CO2-N2) and late (type-2: CO2-H2O), have been recorded in orthopyroxene. The upper mantle heterogeneity recorded by these microstructures and fluid inclusions is considered to be due to the interaction between the North American plate and the Farallon plate.

  • The passenger boarding bridge which provides a safe and comfort passenger pathway between an airplane and airport terminal gate is one of the apron equipment. This study investigates the effect of the lift column layout design on structural strength of the passenger boarding bridge by using finite element method, comparing deflection and stress. The overlapped zone of the tunnel frame A and B occurred at the maximum stress. The results of this research show that the lift column layout design is closely the value of the maximum stress.

  • Productivity is the most important factor directly link to success and failure of a work in construction industry. To evaluate this productivity, simulation technique is verified as a fine inspection tool through various experiment reports. On this project, we have proved the part of improvement on productivity using this simulation technique, applied to this field sites. We have used CYCLONE, which is the most appropriate simulation technique on this project. As a result of Simulation analysis, it has been confirmed that the productivity was enhanced due to the advancement of equipment, hence the reduction of air is being effected.

  • To repair the underside of the car, a repairman has to enter under the car body. But this work can make it difficult for him to fix it and the injuries can occur. To solve these difficult problems, the developed equipment is the automotive lift. In this study, three kinds of lift models 1, 2 and 3 were designed and the material properties of the structural steel were applied. As the same load were applied under the same conditions on all models, the structural analyses were conducted. Models 2 and 3 were shown to have the structural deformation less than model 1. Also, models 2 and 3 were shown to be more stable than model 1 structurally. By utilizing the design data on a convergence research through durability analysis according to the configuration of automotive lift obtained on the basis of this result, the esthetic feeling can be shown by being converged onto the automotive repair equipment parts at actual life.
