This study is focused on subjective images that are produced before visualization in the digital information environment and on characteristics of objective, dynamic image expression that specifies the subjective images. In this study, the visual world that works in the action of "see"is expanded into vision of eyes, vision of brain, and vision of camera. Also we have redefined the definitions of image and its materialized image, yeongsang. It is defined that image contains a strong meaning of consciousness and mind, and that yeongsang involves vision in which constantly changing information of light is created and reproduced by physical processes. We made it clear that image expression in the 21 st century is becoming more generalized, simplified, and concentrated, by the digital technology, from existing specific non-real images to "informationalized" non-real images. This means that there exists an intrinsic difference in the expressional form of the modern analog environment and that of the recent digital environment in the area of yeongsang communication. Along with development of technology, image information raises plastic reality through indirect experience in the virtual space by expanding the sensual faculty of human. However, there also is a tendency for humans to rely more on technology instead of utilizing their creative faculty. Image expression by“the digital information environment” in the 21st century will pursue two sides; one is to shift from external expression of the human body in the cyber space to internal expression, and the other is to internalize the image world and make it connected worldwide. Generation Z(Gen Z), which is referred to people in their late teens to early 20s, becomes one of new major consumer groups in the society. More than 80 percent Gen Z use YouTube content as a main information channel. In this study, we investigate what kind of factors make Gen Z immersed when watching YouTube content. In the background study, we examined immersion and set the cognitive conditions of immersion as reality, fascination, control, and driving as a framework for analysis of case study. In the case study, we analyzed the most popular YouTube channels of each category among the Gen Z with the established framework and then identified 3 main factors: reality, 5 senses, and unpretentiousness and 8 characteristics of them. By conducting survey with Gen Z, we wanted to verify the validity of the characteristics and find out the difference among categories. Subjects answered on a five-point scale how the characteristics of each immersion factor corresponded to their favorite channels. As a result, seven characteristics: 1) familiarity of background, 2) reality of acting, 3)familiarity of material, 4)YouTubers' appearance and 5) voice, 6)multi-sensory, and 7)YouTuber's ability to resemble viewers influenced more than 50% of users' immersion. Although there was no significant difference among categories, the familiarity of the material and the five senses stimulus (YouTube's appearance, voice, audiovisual and surrogate taste) were the most important factors in the entertainment category.
Documentaries are being recreated into a new genre and the Web Documentary is the typical case. Web Documentaries are the documentaries those comprise creators and users and they are the novel type of text that the interaction with users is absolute. In this research, two Web Documentaries and are analyzed for examining how Web utilizes its features as expressive media inducing users to experience reality. Web Documentaries have dual and spatial structure that allows user interaction and make users to face with various information and knowledge about reality by its encyclopedic characteristics. Also, Web Documentaries give the role of progressing documentary and expanding text to users and that is, they stimulate users' consciousness reminding that they are the ones who explore through reality. In this process, users of Web Documentaries get potentiality of critically examining the reality suggested by documentaries and grasping the meanings beneath it. These features make Web Documentaries special contrast to traditional documentaries not only with their way of pursuing the reality but also with their meanings. This makes the innovative position of Web Documentaries phenomenon clear, issuing the necessity of the discussion about Web Documentaries more strongly. Web Documentaries are not just new media technological phenomenon, and they have their significance as a fundamental challenge toward traditional documentaries.
This paper studies the recent surge in the number of faith-based films in Hollywood, with the aim to explore the context and implications of this new trend. By using the theoretical framework of the study of the Tilich and Van der Leeuw, who have explored the relationship between religion, culture and art, this article discusses the meaning of the spiritual theme in the film. A couple of common points can be found among the faith-based films that have been produced since the 2010s. While these films attempt a universal approach to the fundamental theme of spirituality through popular narratives familiar to the audience, they also stress 'historical truthfulness and credibility' by representing the reality, such as a featuring real person or a true story in the film. The main characters are depicted as "victorious losers" that are distinguished from the typical Hollywood superhero and the films repeatedly show the human being constantly 'asking' questions to God. By analyzing these characteristics, the paper demonstrates that recent Hollywood faith-based films have successfully differentiated themselves from existing religious films while symbolizing the universal beliefs and values beyond the religious message so as to attract more audiences to this field. The paper also suggests that despite the advances in modern science and knowledge, the public will always yearn for a spiritual recovery and salvation through the film medium, serving as a potential source that provides an outlet for spiritual experience.
When video composes mise-en-scene during the performance, it reflects the aspect of contemporary image culture, where the individual as creator joins in the image culture through the device of cell phone and computer remediating the former video technology. It also closely related with the contemporary theatre culture in which 1960's and 1970's video art was weaved into the contemporary performance theatre. With these cultural background, theatre practitioners regarded media-friendly mise-en-scene as an alternative facing the cultural landscape the linear representational narrative did not correspond to the present culture. Nonetheless, it can not be ignored that video in the performance theatre is remediating its historical function: to criticize the social reality. to enrich the aesthetic or emotional reality. I focused video in the performance theatre could feature the object with the image by realizing the realtime relay, emphasizing the situation within the frame, and strengthening the reality by alluding the object as a gesutre. So I explored its two historical manuel. First, video recorded the spot, communicated the information, and arose the audience's recognition of the object to its critical function. Second, video in performance theatre could redistribute perceptual way according to the editing method like as close up, slow motion, multiple perspective, montage and collage, and transformation of the image to the aesthetic function. Reminding the historical function of video in contemporary performance theatre, I analyzed two shows, Schaubuhne's Hamlet and Lenea de Sombra's Amarillo which were introduced to Korean audiences during the 2010 Seoul Theatre Olympics. It is known to us that Ostermeir found real social reality as a text and made the play the context. In this, he used video as a vehicle to penetrate the social reality through the hero's perspective. It is also noteworthy that Ostermeir understood Hamlet's dilemma as these days' young generation's propensity. They delayed action while being involved in image culture. Besides his use of video in the piece revitalized the aesthetic function of video by hypermedial perceptual method. Amarillo combined documentary theatre method with installation, physical theatre, and video relay on the spot, and activated aesthetic function with the intermediality, its interacting co-relationship between the media. In this performance theatre, video has recorded and pursued the absent presence of the real people who died or lost in the desert. At the same time it fantasized the emotional aspect of the people at the moment of their death, which would be opaque or non prominent otherwise. As a conclusion, I found the video in contemporary performance theatre visualized the rupture between the media and perform their intermediality. It attempted to disturb the transparent immediacy to invoke the spectator's perception to the theatrical situation, to open its emotional and spiritual aspect, and to remind the realities as with Schaubuhne's Hamlet and Lenea de Sombra's Amarillo.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the characteristics of organic relations according to the characteristics of space and place in which human activities are spreading. The diffusion of various human experiences and the interaction of space and place that form a mutual construction network create momentum for expanding individual or collective experiences. The space and place that lead to the interactions of human activities are expressed in various ways. Through the domestic travel program especially, the ways of expressing space and place are spreading as various "fields of experience." The composition and the expression system of a travel program is transformed into a subject of thought, not a mere experience of space and place through the formation of a "field of experience" that can be thought out and thought of as an existing travel style. Therefore, in this study, we examine the characteristics of the MBC Plus channel from a socio-cultural perspective, expressed through the experience of space and place characteristics expressed through a travel program. The result of an analysis of story development composition for this study shows that the experience of space and place minimizes the boundaries of various cultural discounts according to their relationships to food and communication. In addition, the analysis results of a three-way communication structure show that the emotional code of the audience is maximized through the process of maximizing the effect of reality, and minimizing the gap between the cultural differences and the boundaries through the empathic situation and the empathic subject.

Jeong Sun-Ah built up her performance career for twenty years with bold and energetic acting and solidified her status as a leading actress of Korean musical since her debut. To benefit from the value of her experience this study performed an in-depth interview with her, applying the Theory of "Projection" and "Back-projection", which are the psychological principles of acting, and derived "acting(entering the roles)" and "de-acting(leaving the roles)" techniques. As result, Her acting mechanism involved emptying her ego, embodying a persona by projecting the role created by intensive exploration of materials like previous performance, film of the same title, original novel, and script, and then getting the ego back by back-projecting through dynamic activities such as overseas travel and dance. She pre-studied the roles by physically visiting sites that are important to the characters. She was unique in that she pursued a difference by changing vocal trainers for each musical production and undertook more intense physical training than vocal practice to achieve powerful singing performance. In most of her works (75%), she suffered from aftereffects such as depression, narcissism, hysteria, and insomnia due to disorder caused by breaking away from the roles. However, she relied on self-help and alternatives are needed in the future such as reinforcement of expert counselling. Jeong Sun-Ah appeared on an average of 1.6 productions per year, practiced for an average of 1.7 months, and performed for an average of 3.9 months with an average of 100 days of break between productions. Her performance record from this research demonstrates her constant preparation and passion, as well as the know-how of reserving and distributing energy. So, it has a valuable implications for acting education and self-management of actors and actress.

The aim of this study is to examine the between-space and gender, and to examine the universality and specificity of the text of Korean - Japanese image culture. If the movie reproduces the world of reality fictionally from the viewpoint of the between-space, it can be seen that the artistic has differentiation by realistically reproducing the fictional world, but universally creates the hyper reality. VR movies form a relationship with the audience in completely different ways from general movies with their screen. In VR movies, the audience becomes the camera and also the subject of the camera viewpoint, which raises a need for a frame theory unique to VR movies to examine the first person viewpoint and replace the edition of frames to deliver a narrative. In VR movies, the frames delivering a narrative are not revealed and perform the symbolic narrative function, thus being called "implicit frames." The study discussed their related theoretical backgrounds including Russian Ark made in the one shot, one cut method by Alexander Sokurov, off-screen elements, and the Fourth Wall. In VR movies, the audience gets immersed in the narrative based on their paradoxical dilemma, which means that they exist in reality but are absent on screen at the same time, and experiences hyper-reality. In VR movies, space has a couple of attributes including the blocking of eyeline to move it and telepresence to tie up presence between reality and virtuality.
Places exposed to mass media induce behavior by forming curiosity and expectations for potential travelers. The places reported through mass media influence viewers. Among TV programs, the most influential genre is drama, and reality programs that provide immersion with different characteristics from dramas influence viewers' choice of destination. CVM is mainly used for estimating the value of objects that cannot be evaluated in the market, such as tourist destinations. This study conducted an economic valuation of filming locations for dramas and travel entertainment programs using CVM, and then compared and analyzed the research results of the two filming locations. Linear and log logit analysis were performed to measure the willingness to pay for the filming location of the drama/travel entertainment program, and the payment amount was derived. The conclusion of the study is that as the travel cost required to visit the filming location of the drama/travel entertainment program increased, the intention to visit decreased. The amount payable when visiting the filming location of the drama/travel entertainment program was higher than the average consumption amount for a day trip, and the amount payable for the drama was higher than that of visiting the filming location of the travel entertainment program.
