An unmanned surveillance robot consists of a machine gun, a laser receiver, a thermal imager, a color CCD camera, and a laser illuminator. It has two axis control systems for elevation and azimuth. Because the current robot system is mounded at a fixed post to take care of surveillance tasks, it is necessary to modify such a surveillance robot to be installed on an UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) system in order to watch blind areas. Thus, it is required to have a stabilization system to compensate the disturbance from the UGV. In this paper, a simulation based design scheme has been adopted to develop a mobile surveillance robot. The 3D CAD geometry model has first been produced by using Pro-Engineer. The required pan and tilt motor capacities have been analyzed using ADAMS inverse dynamics analysis. A target tracking and stabilization control algorithm of the mobile surveillance robot has been developed in order to compensate the motion of the vehicle which will experience the rough terrain. To test the performance of the stabilization control system of the robot, ADAMS/simulink co-simulations has been carried out.
This paper deals with ROLSO (Reduced Order Luenberger State Observer) design to prevent jackknifing phenomenon of articulated vehicles consisting of the tractor and semi-trailer by using GPS. In addition, by applying the regulator system using ROLSO feedback system, simulation's result presents that articulated vehicle's states are stabilized than the human's PR time (Preception Response time) rapidly. This simulation verifies that the automatic control of articulated vehicle's can be applied for the accident prevention for the time that the driver is unable to manage with the sudden accident. For this simulation, by using the equation of planar motion, the modeling of the articulated vehicle was performed. This modeling was expressed in the state space model. And FOLSO (Full Order Luenberger State Observer), ROLSO were designed by using the state space model of an articulated vehicle's dynamics.
Hierarchical IPP (Integrated Path Planning) combining the GPP (Global Path Planner) and the LPP (Local Path Planner) is interesting the researches who study about the mobile vehicle in recent years. However, in this study, there is the path mismatch problem caused by the difference in the map information available to both path planners. If ever a part of the path that was found by the GPP is available to mobile vehicle, the part may be unavailable when the mobile vehicle generates the local path with its built-in sensors while the vehicle moves. This paper proposed the TWR (Temporal Waypoint Reviser) to solve the path mismatch problem of the hierarchical IPP. The results of simulation provide the performance of the IPP with the TWR by comparing with other path planners.
This research presents an A* based algorithm which can be applied to Unmanned Ground Vehicle self-navigation in order to make the driving path smoother. Based on the grid map, A* algorithm generated the path by using straight lines. However, in this situation, the knee points, which are the connection points when vehicle changed orientation, are created. These points make Unmanned Ground Vehicle continuous navigation unsuitable. Therefore, in this paper, B-spline curve function is applied to transform the path transfer into curve type. And because the location of the control point has influenced the B-spline curve, the optimal control selection algorithm is proposed. Also, the optimal path tracking speed can be calculated through the curvature radius of the B-spline curve. Finally, based on this algorithm, a path created program is applied to the path results of the A* algorithm and this B-spline curve algorithm. After that, the final path results are compared through the simulation.
In today's automotive industry, there exist several systems that help drivers reduce the possibility of accidents, such as the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). The ADAS helps drivers make correct and quick decisions during dangerous situations. This study analyzed the performance of the IMM (Interacting Multiple Model) method based on multiple Kalman filters using the data acquired from a driving simulator. An IMM algorithm is developed to identify the current discrete state of neighboring vehicles using the sensor data and the vehicle dynamics. In particular, the driving modes of the neighboring vehicles are classified by the cruising and maneuvering modes, and the transition between the states is modeled using a Markovian switching coefficient. The performance of the IMM algorithm is analyzed through realistic simulations where a target vehicle executes sudden lane change or acceleration maneuver.
This paper proposes a classification method of parallel, vertical parking states and pillars for parking assist system using ultrasonic sensors. Since, in general parking space detection module, the compressed amplitude of ultrasonic data are received, the analysis of them is difficult. To solve these problems, in preprocessing state, symmetric transform and noise removal are performed. In feature extraction process, four features, standard deviation of distance, reconstructed peak, standard deviation of reconstructed signal and sum of width, are proposed. Gaussian fitting model is used to reconstruct saturated peak signal and discriminability of each feature is measured. To find the best combination among these features, multi-class SVM and subset generator are used for more accurate and robust classification. The proposed method shows 92 % classification rate and proves the applicability to parking space detection modules.
The automatic steering system for unmanned vehicle was developed. The magnet and MR (Magnetoresistive) sensors are used for the tue detecting system. The lateral distance between sensor and the center line of the road is determined by the linearization of the distance according to the output. The PD control theory is used for the design of the controller to compare with $H_\infty$ control theory. The $H_\infty$ control theory is used for the design of the controller to reduce the disturbance. The performance of the PD controller and $H_\infty$ controller is compared in simulations and tests. The PD controller is easy to tune in the test site. The $H_\infty$ controller is robust far the disturbances in the test results.
