The Effects of Robot's Persuasive Intention and it's Physical Distance with Consumers on Consumers' Evaluation on the Robot and Product Purchase Intention (로봇의 설득의도와 소비자와의 물리적 거리가 소비자의 로봇에 대한 평가와 제품의 구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The current study explored how robot's persuasive intent and its' physical distance affect consumers' evaluaton on the robot and the product that the robot advertises. This study administered a 2 (level of pursasion intent: low vs. high) × 2 (physical distance: normal vs. close) between-subjects factorial design experiment. The findings revealed that consumers evaluated the robot' expertise and trustworthiness more negatively and reported lower intentions to buy the produce when they perceived robot's persasive intent saliently high. Consumers were also found to show more negative attitude toward the robot and lower intentions to buy the produce when the robot approached to their personal space more closely. The theoretical and practical implications about human-robot interaction in marketing context were discussed.

  • 본 논문에서는 순찰로봇이 도시 환경을 주행하는 경우에 대하여 CPTED 및 문헌 연구를 통해 순찰 경로를 선정하였으며, 발생 가능한 위험 요소에 대한 위험성평가를 실시하였다. 로봇과 함께 도보를 사용하는 시민은 로봇에 대한 전문성이 부족하며, 위험에 대한 인식이 부족하고 또한 도시환경의 경우 돌발적 상황 및 환경관리의 어려움이 존재한다. 현재 순찰로봇 안전평가를 하기 위하여 순찰로봇과 관련된 기업들은 ISO 13482 국제표준을 사용하고 있다. 이는 개인 서비스 로봇의 안전 관련 국제 표준이며 순찰로봇의 특징과 주행환경의 특성을 고려한 안전기준에 대한 연구가 필요한 것으로 판단하였다. 순찰로봇이 주행하면서 발생할 수 있는 위험요인과 안전관리에 관한 연구가 부족하여, 순찰로봇의 안전성 확보를 위한 초기연구 목적으로 제시하고자 한다.

  • 본 논문은 가정용로봇 시스템을 구성하는 핵심기능 컴포넌트에 대하여 시험평가를 위한 규격을 개발하는데 목적이 있다. 이는 2006년 말부터 실제 사업화가 이루어질 우리나라의 지능형 로봇시장을 선점하여 로봇 컴포넌트의 품질 보증을 위한 평가 프로세스 및 절차, 가정용 로봇 시험평가를 위한 테스트케이스, 시험 평가 규격 등의 개발을 내용으로 한다. 따라서, 가정용로봇의 기본적인 필요 특성을 보장하고, 실내/외에서 제공되는 홈 네트워크와의 연동 서비스 및 제어 등의 기능을 수행하기 위한 가정용로봇의 종합적인 기능 확인 및 기본 성능에 대한 시험 평가 분석 항목 및 규격을 제시하는데 본 논문의 목적이 있다.

Evaluating Impressions of Robots According to the Robot's Embodiment Level and Response Speed (로봇의 외형 구체화 정도 및 반응속도에 따른 로봇 인상 평가)

  • Nowadays, as many robots are developed for desktop, users interact with the robots based on speech. However, due to technical limitations related to speech-based interaction, an alternative is needed. We designed this research to design a robot that interacts with the user by using unconditional reflection of biological signals. In order to apply bio-signals to robots more effectively, we evaluated the robots' overall service evaluation, perceived intelligence, appropriateness, trustworthy, and sociability according to the degree of the robot's embodiment level and the response speed of the robot. The result showed that in terms of intelligence and appropriateness, 3D robot with higher embodiment level was more positively evaluated than 2D robot with lower embodiment level. Also, the robot with faster response rate was evaluated more favorably in overall service evaluation, intelligence, appropriateness, trustworthy, and sociability than the robot with slower response rate. In addition, in service evaluation, trustworthy, and sociability, there were interaction effects according to the robot's embodiment level and the response speed.

  • This study aimed to confirm the effect of social and relational behavior types of robots on human cognition in human-robot interaction. In the experiment, the participants evaluated trust in robots by watching a video on the robot Nao interacting with a human, in which the robot made an error and then made an effort to restore trust. The trust recovery behavior was set as three conditions: an internal attribution in which the robot acknowledges and apologizes for an error, a condition in which the robot apologizes for an error but attributes it externally, and a non-action condition in which the robot denies the error itself and does not take any action for the error. As the result, in all three cases, the error was perceived as less serious when the robot apologized than when it did not, and the ability of the robot was also highly evaluated. These results provide evidence that human attitudes towards robots can respond sensitively depending on the robot's behavior and how they overcome errors, suggesting that human perception towards robots can change. In particular, the fact that robots are more trustworthy when they acknowledge and apologize for their own errors shows that robots can promote positive human-robot interactions through human-like social and polite behavior.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서 지능적인 로봇 서비스를 제공하기 위한 로봇 서비스의 범위가 사용자 명령을 그대로 수행하는 단순 서비스에서 상황 해석을 통한 능동 서비스의 개념으로 확대되고 있다. 본 논문은 지능형 로봇 시스템을 기반으로 능동적인 로봇 서비스를 제공하기 위해 발현한 로봇 서비스에 대한 가용성을 평가하는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법은 실내 환경 변화를 감지하여 컨텍스트 처리를 통한 서비스 목표를 추출하고, 선택된 후보 서비스 리스트를 대상으로, 해당 홈 환경의 상태 정보를 기반으로 서비스 제안에 적합한 상황인지, 서비스 정책에 적합한 서비스인지, 그리고 제공중인 서비스인지 등의 해당 로봇 서비스에 대한 가용성을 평가하여 최적의 로봇 서비스를 제공한다.

  • 최근 인공지능의 급부상과 함께 서비스 로봇은 물론 산업용 로봇에 이르기까지 ICT 융합을 통한 HRI(Human Robot Interaction) 지능화가 가속화되고 있다. 제조, 물류, 공공장소, 가정 등 다양한 환경에서 인간과 가까이 공존하며 상호작용하는 지능로봇의 안전과 성능에 기반한 신뢰성 확보는 성장하는 로봇 시장에 중요한 이슈로 떠오르고 있다. 2014년 실내외에서 운용되는 개인지원로봇에 대한 기본 안전 요구 표준인 ISO 13482가 공표되고 유럽, 일본을 비롯한 세계시장은 국제 표준 에 기반한 서비스 로봇의 인증을 요구하고 있다. 이에 최근 국내 로봇 기업의 해외 시장 진출에 있어 가장 우선적으로 요구받고 있는 안전 요구조건과 검증에 필요한 위험 평가 프로세스를 소개하고 서비스 로봇의 안전 및 성능 평가 기술과 표준에 대하여 살펴본다.

  • The current study explored if users' self-relevance of the comparison domain with creative AI robot in music composition affected their envy toward the robot, cognitive assessment toward the music and intention toward working with robot in future. This study conducted a 2 (degree of self-relevance: high(college students majoring in music) vs. low(those not majoring in music) × 2 (working type: robot-only vs. robot-human collaboration) between-subjects factorial design experiment. The findings revealed that those majoring in music did not feel envious of the robot as much as those not majoring in music. However, compared to those not majoring in music, those majoring in music evaluated the robot's creativity lower, had more negative attitude toward the music, showed less intention to use the music and work with the robots in future. No interaction between the degree of self-relevance and the working type was found.

  • In this study, eye tracking was used for the appearance of the robot during the social robot design study. During the research, each part of the social robot was designated as AOI (Areas of Interests), and the user's attitude was measured through a design evaluation questionnaire to construct a design research model of the social robot. The data used in this study are Fixation, First Visit, Total Viewed, and Revisits as eye tracking indicators, and AOI (Areas of Interests) was designed with the face, eyes, lips, and body of the social robot. And as design evaluation questionnaire questions, consumer beliefs such as Face-highlighted, Human-like, and Expressive of social robots were collected and as a dependent variable was attitude toward robots. Through this, we tried to discover the mechanism that specifically forms the user's attitude toward the robot, and to discover specific insights that can be referenced when designing the robot.

  • It takes only few seconds to find an artifact that has anthropomorphic form. There are numerous examples illustrating human's shape in daily life products. Usage of anthropomorphic form has been a basic design strategy especially when industrial designers design intelligent service robots because most of robot features were basically from human. Therefore, it's necessary to use anthropomorphic form not only in appearance design but also in interaction design. To use anthropomorphic form effectively, it needs to measure how much the artifact is similar to human, and then to evaluate whether the usage of anthropomorphic form fits to the artifact. This study's goal was to set up an evaluation standard for anthropomorphism for robot design. We suggest that there are three criteria for the evaluation standard. Those are 'anthropomorphic form in appearance', 'anthropomorphic form in Human-Robot Interaction', and 'accordance in two former criteria'. We expect that when designers put an evaluation step of anthropomophism in their design process of robots, robots might become more preferred by users, and easier to understand how to interact with.
