Study on precision improvement in weight measurement of an egg for the automatic egg sorting system (계란(鷄卵) 자동(自動) 선별기(選別機)의 난중측정(卵重測定) 정밀도(精密度) 향상(向上)에 관(關)한 기초연구(基礎硏究))

  • The various errors existing in a weight measurement system in most automatic egg sorting system available in Korean poultry farms have caused a large amount of economic losses to the egg producers. The object of this study was an importance of egg measurement system by changing both the number and the arrangements of load cells to reduce measuring errors. The results obtained were summarized as follow : 1. Four arrangements of load cells were selected as follows : layout I : Conventional one load cell method layout II : One load cell located as egg moving direction layout III : Two load cells located facing each other layout IV : Two load cells located as parallel with egg moving direction 2. The results of egg weight measurement according to four arrangements (Layout I, II, III, IV) showed that the average errors were 1.1218g, 0.5953g, 0.7786g, 0.2793g respectively. This indicated that the Layout IV (measuring by 2 load cells located parallel with the egg moving direction) caused the lowest average error and the best in precision. 3. The average vibration of axis X, y, Z were resulted as $5.1937{\times}10^{-3}G$, $9.3604{\times}10^{-3}G$, and $16.8657{\times}10^{-3}G$ respectively when sorting large sized egg. This indicated that the vibration of axis-Z was relatively higher than those of axis-X, and axis-Y.

  • 로드 셀의 정밀측정 에러의 가장 큰 요인은 온도에 의한 출력특성 변화이다. 본 논문에서는 주어진 어떤 온도 구간에서만 온도특성을 보상하였던 기존의 방법에 비해 보다 넓은 온도구간에서 로드 셀의 출력의 온도 특성을 보상하고 또한 출력의 온도 특성이 기존의 방식에 의한 것보다 개선된 새로운 로드셀의 온도보상 방법을 제안 하였다.

Method for measuring 3-axis cutting force of a pick cutter using the single-axis load cell array (1축 로드셀 배열을 사용한 픽 커터의 3축 절삭력 측정방법)

  • A new method for measuring the 3-axis cutting forces of a pick cutter by substituting costly 3-D load cells is proposed in this paper. The proposed cutting force measurement method is capable of estimating the 3-axis cutting forces through mechanical constraints using four single-axis compressive load cells and shoulder bolts. The feasibility of the proposed method was verified by finite element analysis, and the accuracy of the force measurement of the developed force measurement device was investigated by conducting linear rock cutting tests. The tests showed that the new cutting force measurement method is able to measure 3-axis cutting forces with a relative error of approximately 6%. These results imply that the new method could be a suitable alternative to conventional 3-D load cells. In addition, it will allow a significant reduction of approximately 20-30% in the costs required for measuring the cutting force when compared to conventional 3-D load cells.

  • 박막의 접착강도를 측정하기 위하여 수직력과 수평력을 동시에 측정할 수 있는 0.1∼100 N 용량의 2축 로드셀에 기반을 둔 스크레치 테스터를 개발하였다. 반도체용 Si wafer 기판 위에 Au나 Al 등의 금속이 관은 박막으로 증착된 제품을 table에 고정시킨 후, 2축 로드셀(x, z)이 장착된 하중센서의 선단에 Diamond Tip을 장착하여 기판과 박막에 하중(z-axis)을 증가시키면서 동시에 wafer를 x축 방향으로 이동시킨다. 이런 방식으로 시료의 표면을 긁으면 박막이 벗겨져 나가 Diamond Tip이 기판에 닿을 때 서로 다른 경도차에 의해 진동이 발생하게 되고, 이 진동을 Acoustic Emission 센서에서 감지하여 Crack 발생 시점의 Load와 Stroke를 찾아내게 된다.(중략)

  • Emerging fiber optic sensor technologies have shown great potential to overcome the difficulties associated with conventional sensors. Fiber optic sensors are immune to EM noise and electric shock and thus can be used in explosion-prone areas. Several kinds of fiber optic sensors have been developed over the last two decades to take advantage of these merits. There have also been many field applications of fiber optic sensors for structural health monitoring as NDT/HDE. However, very few sensors, particularly a load cell have been successfully commercialized. This Paper Presents a load cell using fiber Bra99 gra1ing (FBG) sensors. The shape of the load cell is a link type, and three FBG sensors are used for measuring strains at three different points. Especially, these strains are processed with a differential method in order to exclude common mode noise such as temperature. Moreover, the sensitivity, the linearity and the resolution of the load cell were successfully verified from the experiment of tension test.

  • This paper describes the design and development of a smart digital load cell used forweighing installations. Sice the load cell sensor to be used is very sensitive for weight cariation, the load cell must have the temperature stability, low-drift and the high-resolution of the A/D conversion for accuracy. A new analog circuit which is controlled by one chip micro-processer has been developed to reduce the offset voltage and the drift characteristics of operational amplifiers, and has been adapted into the digital load cell. Also, a software algorithm has been developed to obtain the stable and accurate A/D conversion. This software includes a RS-485 communication program to control the digital load cell, which gives a capability of backing-up the calibration data and transferring control data. The simulation and evaluation of the designed digital load cell has been shown as having the good performance. which will give useful application to the weighing installations as a remote weighing sensor.

Non-contact Stress Measurement in Steel Member of PSC Box Bridge Using Raman Spectroscopy (라만 형광 분광법을 이용한 PSC 박스교 인장케이블 응력측정방법 연구)

  • In this paper, a laser-based non-contact load cell is newly developed for measuring forces in prestressed concrete tendons. First, alumina particles have been sprayed onto an empty load cell which has no strain gauges on it, and the layer has been used as a passive stress sensor. Then, the spectral shifts in fluorescence spectroscopy have been measured using a laser-based spectroscopic system under various force levels, and it has been found that the relation of applied force and spectral shift is linear in a lab-scale test. To validate the field applicability of the customized load cell, a full-scale prestressed concrete specimen has been constructed in a yard. During the field test, it was, however, found that the coating surface has irregular stress distribution. Therefore, the location of a probe has to be fixed onto the customized load cell for using the coating layer as a passive stress sensor. So, a prototype customized load cell has been manufactured, which consists of a probe mount on its casing. Then, by performing lab-scale uniaxial compression tests with the prototype load cell, a linear relation between compression stress and spectrum shift at a specific point where laser light had been illuminated has been detected. Thus, it has a high possibility to use the prototype load cell as a force sensor of prestressed concrete tendons.

High Accurate Creep Compensation of the Loadcell using the Strain Gauge (스트레인 게이지식 로드셀의 고정밀 크립보상)

  • This paper proposes a practical compensation method by using digital signal processing over the creep error which is representative in strain gauge loadcell. The signal compensation method carry out the simulation by deciding compensation constant (time constant) and coefficient measuring the loadcell output response. Then, compensation constant and coefficient are stored on the microprocessor. By using calculated on microprocessor creep error compensation values, weighting value is showed as a digital signal by reducing error values measured through output signals of loadcell. In addition, we apply error compensation method in order to have a dedicated software for loadcell electronic scale. This technique is useful because it has great influence on error rate reduction that has been produced by conventional electronic scales (0.03%). As a result our technique gives better accuracy (0.01%~0.003%) as what is given by digital electronic scale, while it has less complex operation processing.

Suggested Method for the Tunnel Instrumentation on the Lattice Girder from the Results of the Laboratory Test using Load Cells (로드셀 실내시험을 통한 터널 격자지보 계측 기법)

  • The use of lattice girder is increased at the tunnel site in Korea recently for the substitute of H-steel rib. However, field measurements at the lattice girder are rarely performed at the tunnel site and the method of the measurement is not well established. The use of the vibrating wire strain gauges used for the H-steel rib was proven to be not suitable for the strain measurements of the lattice girder according to the previous research. The credibility of the load cell was investigated using laboratory compression tests for load cells, specially manufactured for the lattice girder far this study, installed at the specimen of the lattice girder. The method of the tunnel instrumentation for the lattice girder using the load cell is given from the interpretation of the compression test results.

  • 바퀴동력계는 차량에 지면으로부터 전달되는 힘과 모멘트를 측정하는 로드셀이다. 본 연구에서 개발한 바퀴동력계는 스트레인 게이지식 로드셀로써 이러한 로드셀을 설계하는데 있어서 몇가지 고려해야 하는 사항이 있다. 우선 스트레인 게이지를 부착하기 쉬운 구조가 되어야 하고 조립시의 오차를 줄이기 위하여 한 몸체로 제작되어야 한다. 이와 동시에 가장 중요하게 고려되어야 하는 인자로 감도를 위해 재료가 허용하는 응력내에서 되도록 큰 변형률이 발생해야 하고 상호 간섭 오차가 발생하지 말아야 한다. 본 연구에서는 수식을 이용하여 이론적으로 상호 간섭 오차를 0으로 만들 수 있었다. 또한 설계 변수 및 재료 물성치의 산포를 고려한 신뢰성 기반 최적설계 기법을 사용하였으며, 이를 통해 허용 응력하에서 최대의 변형률이 발생하는 바퀴동력계를 설계하였다.
