Design of FMCW radar waveform for flow measurement (유량 측정을 위한 FMCW 레이다 파형 설계)

  • A commercial flow measurement radar sensor estimates a quantity of flowed water using surface flow rate. In this way, the amount of water flowing per unit time cannot be measured accurately because of using an estimation result and it can't response environmental changes. For more accurate flow measurements we need width of waterway, water level and distance that water moved per unit time. Commonly two sensors are used to measure water level and flow rate. In this paper, we propose a method to simultaneously measure the water level and surface flow velocity using a single FMCW radar sensor and design the transmission waveform. In order to verify the waveform design, received signal is modelled based on transmission waveform. In addition, we consider phenomenons and problems that may occur in signal processing.

A Study on Integrated Control and Safety Management Systems for LNG Membrane Storage Tank (멤브레인식 LNG 저장탱크용 통합제어안전관리시스템에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, the integrated control and safety management system for a super-large LNG membrane storage tank has been presented based on the investigation and analysis of measuring equipments and safety analysis system for a conventional LNG membrane storage tank. The integrated control and safety management system, which may increase a safety and efficiency of a super-large LNG membrane storage tank, added additional pressure gauges and new displacement/force sensors at the steel anchor between an inner tank and a prestressed concrete structure. The displacement and force sensors may provide clues of a membrane panel failure and a LNG leakage from the inner tank. The conventional leak sensor may not provide proper information on the membrane panel fracture even though LNG is leaked until the leak detector, which is placed at the insulation area behind an inner tank, send a warning signal. Thus, the new integrated control and safety management system is to collect and analyze the temperature, pressure, displacement, force and LNG density, which are related to the tank system safety and leakage control from the inner tank. The digital data are also measured from measurement systems such as displacement and force of a membrane panel safety, LNG level and density, cool-down process, leakage, and pressure controls.

스터드 기반의 레이저 레이다 삼차원 영상센서기술

  • 본 발표에서는 최근 무인전투기 및 무인자율주행차량 등의 어플리케이션에 응용되고 있는 삼차원 영상 센서 시스템 기술에 관한 소개와 더불어 한국전자통신연구원에서 독자적인 구도를 기반으로 최근 시연에 성공한 스터드(STUD) 레이저 레이다의 동작원리 및 구현결과를 소개하고자 한다. 최근 전세계의 삼차원 레이저 영상 센서 시스템은 1) 한 관측점을 회전을 통해 스캔하는 2D 스캔 방식에서 벗어나, 2) 일차원 배열 형태로 구현된 관측점을 센서가 회전하면서 얻어지는 3D 스캔 방식과 3) 이차원 어레이 형태의 검출기로 삼차원 영상을 검출하는 방식으로 삼차원 영상을 확보하는 노력으로 구분되어 진행되어 왔다. 이번 시연에 성공한 제안된 방법은, 기존의구도와는 다른 독자적인 방식으로, 대면적 검출기를 기반으로 센서부가 회전하지 않으면서, 하나로 통합된 검출기 출력을 이용할 수 있는 구도인 스터드(STUD: STatic and Unitary Detector)기반의 삼차원 레이저 레이다 시스템이다. 최근 구현 결과는 수평해상도 320, 수직해상도 240인 QVGA 영상 수준으로, 이는 지금까지 세계 최고해상도인 ASC사의 128x128 해상도를 뛰어 넘는 우수한 결과이다. 제안된독자적인 구도의 삼차원 레이저 영상 시스템은 다양한 관련 기술들과의 접목하여 향후 군수용 뿐만아니라 민수용 시장의 기술발전에 큰 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되고 있다.

  • Software-Defined Radar는 기본 레이다 하드웨어의 기능을 소프트웨어로 구현할 수 있게 하여 하드웨어의 재구성이 용이하므로 다양한 활용 목적에 따라 레이다 기능을 다양화할 수 있고, 개발기간과 비용을 줄일 수 있는 장점이 있다. 특히 소프트웨어의 유연성이 높아 레이다 주변 환경에 따라 레이다 신호처리 알고리듬을 쉽게 적용할 수 있다. 본 기고에서는 다중대역에서 다중모드로 운용할 수 있는 소프트웨어 기반의 레이다 플랫폼 개발에 대한 기술 배경과 개발 내용을 설명하였고, 다양한 활용 전망을 살펴보았다.

Design of the Rain Sensor using a Coaxial Cavity Resonator (동축 공동 공진기를 이용한 물방울 감지 센서 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper the water sensor using a coaxial cavity resonator is designed and manufactured. The water sensor which can sense water drop linearly has been constructed with voltage controlled oscillator(VCO), coaxial cavity resonator, RF switch, RF detector, A/D converter, DAC and micro controller. The operating frequency range of the designed water sensor is from 2.5GHz to 3.2GHz and the input voltage and current source are 24[V/DC] and 1[A]. The designed sensor circuit includes VCO, RF switch, RF detector which varies the frequency characteristics of the devices in the high frequency of 3GHz. And so we should correct the error of the frequency characteristics of those devices in the sensor circuit. To do this, we make the reference path which switches the signals to the RF detector directly without sending it to the resonator. According to the result of simulation and measurement, we can see that there is 0-50MHz difference between simulated resonator frequency and manufactured resonator frequency.

A Study for Efficient Methods of System Calibration between Optical and Range Sensors by Using Simulation (시뮬레이션을 통한 광학 및 레인지 센서 간의 효율적인 시스템 캘리브레이션 설계)

  • The study planned to suggest the efficient methods of system calibration between the range and optical sensors. The simulation was performed by considering i) design of test-bed, ii) mathematical methods of system calibration and iii) locations of the sensors. The test-bed was designed by considering specifications of the range and optical sensors. Also, the error levels of each sensor were considered in the process of simulation with dataset, which was generated under these predetermined conditions. The system calibration was carried out by using the simulated dataset in two different approaches, which are single photo resection and bundle adjustment. The results from the simulation determined that the bundle adjustment method is more efficient than the single photo resection in the system calibration between range and optical sensors. For the better results, we have used the data, obtained in various locations. In a conclusion, the most efficient case was in sequence of i) the bundle adjustment with ii) the simulated dataset, which were obtained between 2m to 4m away from the test-bed.

Study on Relation of Optimum Resonant Frequencies between Piezo Ceramic and Matching Layer (피에조 세라믹과 매칭레이어와의 최적 공진주파수 관계에 대한 연구)

  • Ultrasonic transducer is the sensor which is measuring distance. Piezo ceramic of ultrasonic sensor and adhesive technique of matching layer are the most core techniques. With the study of relation on matching layer which takes off the ultrasonic wave into the air, this paper aims to find the second useful frequency as the results which can be changed are extracted in case piezo ceramic and matching layer are bonded. And the experiment is done with piezo ceramic as real piezoelectric element and matching layer of chemical wood. OD of piezo ceramic has designed by ${\Phi}50{\times}3T$ and OD of matching layer is designed by ${\Phi}62{\times}12t$ with ${\lambda}=1/4$. Acoustic impedance is generated at the most optimum resonant frequency of 53 Khz. As experimental result, more available frequency can be generated by using the adhesive close to solid than the flexible one.

  • 레고 마인드스톰 NXT는 다른 로봇 키드에 비해서 조작이 간편하며, 고차원적인 로봇 행위를 제어하기 위해 펌웨어인 leJOS를 지원하며, 블루투스를 이용한 원격 제어가 가능하다. 그러나 leJOS는 외부 파일을 제어하거나 센서 하드웨어가 정상 동작하지 않는 등의 몇 가지 문제점이 발견되었다. 본 논문에서는 leJOS가 갖는 이러한 일련의 문제점을 살펴보고, 이에 대한 해결책을 제시한다.

  • An optical fiber sensor is capable of nondestructive measurement of a structure and it has an advantage of the immunity to electromagnetic interference because light is not affected by electromagnetic wave. In addition, if optical fibers are buried in an object like a concrete, this sensor tan analyze defects and physical status of the object without disassembling it. Especially, the fiber Bragg grating sensor is a promising optical fiber sensor capable of nondestructive test of such an object. A fiber Bragg grating has the characteristics of reflecting or blotting light of a specific wavelength. If we apply physical quantity like strain to the fiber Bragg grating, the center wavelength of the reflected light is shifted and then we can find the physical quantity applied to the fiber Bragg grating by measuring the center wavelength shift of the reflected light. The fiber Bragg grating sensor capable ot static and dynamic strain measurement is being used in health-monitoring of buildings, structures, etc. Recently increasing is interest in dynamic strain measurement inevitable to the civil structures such as roads and bridges. In this study we implemented the optical fiber sensor system which can measure dynamic strain at multiple points using Fabry-Perot wavelength demodulation. And we measured the static and dynamic strain using this sensor system with a test structure(cantilever). Measurement results were similar to those obtained with the conventional electrical measurement methods.

  • 최근 유비쿼터스가 활성화되면서 센서에 대한 관심이 높아지게 되었고, 모바일 환경에서의 센서 프레임워크에 대한 정의가 명확히 이루이지지 않은 상황에서 지금까지 센서 데이터를 얻어오는 주체는 어플리케이션에 있었다. 본 논문에서는 모바일 기기에서 여러 가지 센서를 관리하고 센서 데이터를 가져오기 위한 센서 프레임워크를 레이어드 아키텍처로 제안하고 제안된 센서 프레임워크에 대한 효용성에 대해 논의한다.
