In this study, we propose a method for fabricating hydrophobic coatings/films with three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical nanostructured organic/inorganic composite surfaces. An epoxy-based, large-area 3D ordered nanoporous template is first prepared through an advanced photolithography technique called Proximity-field nanoPatterning (PnP). Then, a hierarchically structured surface is generated by densely impregnating the template with silica nanoparticles with an average diameter of 22 nm through dip coating. Due to the coexisting micro- and nano-scale roughness on the surface, the fabricated composite film exhibits a higher contact angle (>137 degrees) for water droplets compared to the reference samples. Therefore, it is expected that the materials and processes developed through this study can be used in various ways in the traditional coating/film field.

Some deep drawing characteristics to the elevated temperatures were investigated for the SCP1 steel sheets by using the Cr-coated die. For this investigations six steps of temperature ranges from room temperature to 25$0^{\circ}C$ and six kinds of drawing ratio from 2.4 to 2.9 were adopted. As a result the limiting drawing ration maximum drawing force and the maximum drawing depth were sensitively affected by the elevated temperatures and the more stable thickness strain distribution was observed to the elevated temperatures, Some experimental results were compared with analytical results using the DYNA-3D code.

A double layered photoreceptor using phthalocyanine dye was made by dip-coating method. The under cutting layer(UCL) was coated with A1$\_$2/O$\_$3/ or polyamide, and the charge generation layer(CGL) was formed by .tau.-type metal-free phthalocyanine. The oxadiazole was used as a charge transport layer(CTL) and polycarbonate and poly(vinyl butyral) was employed as a host polymer. The .tau.-H$\_$2/Pc had an absorption peak around 780nm, which coincided with the emitting wavelengths of GaAlAs diode lasers. Maximum charge acceptance of CTL that gives thickness of 12.mu.m was -900V by corona charge of -6.0kV. In photo-induced discharge measurements, residual potential was less than -20V and sufficient for ordinary use, and sample films using of poly(vinyl butyral) was showed good charge retention. In printing test, drum that was employed polycarbonate as a host polymer showed the good print quality.
In this study, chlorophylls were been extracted from common local plants, deposited on polypropylene (PP) substrate using various approaches, and the oxygen generation effect of the chlorophylls were investigated. The loading of chlorophylls on the substrates was achieved by dipping and spraying methods, where the spraying coating showed overall better results regarding oxygen generation from the combustion experiments in the closed vessel or in the isolated vacuum oven cell than those of dip coating. In addition, a composite substrate was prepared by nylon6/6 nanofiber on the PP substrate, and it exhibited an increase in the activation of chlorophylls. In the case of samples containing titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$), the reaching time of oxygen concentration from 16% to 21% and the combustion test using a candle for a sample with 50% chlorophylls showed similar results to those of a sample without $TiO_2$. As such, combining a spray coating and $TiO_2$ incorporation into gas separation membrane systems are expected to be useful to understand the fundamentals of material properties for their applications as oxygen generation membranes and air filtration systems.
For the development of long-wavelength responding photocatalyst, Ag was applied to commercial $TiO_2$ to produce $Ag/TiO_2$ photocatalyst. Moreover, micro-emulsion method was used in order to increase the efficiency of the photocatalyst by enhancing the dispersion of Ag. Physical properties of the manufactured catalyst were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), field emission transmission electron microscopy (FE-TEM) and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). For the catalytic performance measurement, RO 16 (Reactive Orange 16) removal was performed with 25 ppm RO 16 under UV-A (365 nm) irradiation. In addition, ball milling and dip-coating method were used to synthesize the photocatalyst for the comparison of the outcomes of using different synthesis methods. In addition, catalytic performance was improved by varying the Ag content and surfactant content. The highest catalytic performance was shown at $Ag/TiO_2$ synthesized by micro-emulsion method with 2 wt% of Ag content, and 0.5 g of the surfactant.
Polyvinylchloride (PVC) thin films having a microporous structure could be prepared by using the solubility difference in solvents. PVC thin film with a water contact angle of $150^{\circ}$ or more was obtained from the PVC solution consisting of the mixture of tetrahydrofuran as a solvent and propanol as a non-solvent. In the drying process of dip-coated PVC film, the increase of drying temperature reduced the tendency of roughened surface, which led the decrease of surface hydrophobicity. As the addition of propanol in the solution with 1 wt% PVC increased, the uniformity of surface roughness was improved. In the case of oxygen plasma treatments, even though the surface structure of PVC thin film was not notably changed, the surface property of the film was changed from the super-hydrophobicity to hydrophilicity as a function of the plasma exposing time.
Nano-porous ceramic membranes was synthesized by the sol-gel method. Gas permeation of hydrogen and nitrogen was determined by single composition gas. Pore size $0.1{\mu}m$ and porosity 32% of flat type ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ substrate was manufactured. An intermediate ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ layer with pore size of 4 nm was formed by dip-coating. Polymeric silica sol was synthesized by acid catalyzed hydrolysis and condensation of tetra-ethyl-ortho-silicate. Supported membranes on alumina were prepared by dipping and calcining. He, $N_2$ permeation experiments with nanoporous sol-gel modified supported ceramic membranes were peformed to determine the gas transport characteristics. $He/N_2$ permselectivity around $100{\sim}160$ and helium permeation in the order of $10^{-7}mol/m^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}Pa$ were measured in the temperature range of $303{\sim}363K$.
Thin film on SiO$_2$ glass was synthesized by a dip-coating method from the ZrO$_2$ sol which had dispersed nanosize Au particle under ambient atmosphere. After heat treatment of the prepared thin film, the characteristics were investigated by X-ray diffraction, UV-VIS spectrometer, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). It was found that ZrO$_2$ thin film with 100 nm thickness was crystallized to tetragonal phase at 50$0^{\circ}C$. The size of dispersed Au particle was 15∼40nm and the film had a smooth surface with a roughness of 0.84 nm. The film showed nonlinearity characteristics with absorption peaks at 630∼670nm visible region because of the plasma resonance of Au metallic particles.
Nanocomposite of Au doped ZrO$_2$ films was prepared, which could be used as non-linear optic materials, selective absorption and transmission films. After heat treatment of prepared thin film by dip-coating method, the characteristics were investigated by X-ray diffraction, UV-VIS Spectrometer, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Film thickness was about 150 nm, the Au particle size was 15~35 nm. The thin film had a smooth surface roughness about 1.06 nm. Nonlinearity optics was found that films showed absorption peak at 600~650 nm visible region by plasma resonance of Au metal particles.
