  • 최근 인터넷 및 디지털 방송 서비스 환경 변화에 따라 사용자에게 제공되는 디지털 콘텐츠가 기하급수적으로 증가하게 되었고, 스마트 TV, 스마트 패드, 스마트폰 등 디지털 콘텐츠를 이용할 수 있는 기기들이 다양화 되어지고 있다. 또한, 사용자가 디지털 콘텐츠를 수집하는 경로와 이용하는 환경도 다양해지고 있다. 하지만, 현재 사용자가 제공되어 지고 있는 디지털 콘텐츠들은 특정 단말 및 사용환경에 종속된 형태로 제작되어 서비스되어지고 있으며, 다양한 성능을 가지는 단말들의 특성과 디지털 콘텐츠를 이용하는 사용자의 사용환경에 최적화된 서비스를 제공하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 단말의 특성 및 사용자 사용환경에 최적화된 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 스케일러블 데이터 서비스를 제공하기 위한 프레임워크 기술과 스케일러블 데이터 서비스를 기술하기 위한 언어인 SADL(Scalable Application Descript Language)를 소개하고, 사용자가 사용하는 단말 특성과 사용환경에 최적화된 서비스를 제공하기 위한 SADL기반 콘텐츠를 저작할 수 있는 저작도구를 제안한다.

A Study on the Extended Fair Use of Copyrighted Digital Contents (디지털 콘텐츠 저작물의 공정이용 확대에 대한 연구)

  • The concept and discussion of copyright should reflect changes in using environments of digital properties and developments of technology. Further discussions are required about protection, transfer and usage of copyright for user created contents or digital activities. Digital archives should clarify the ranges of permitted usage or guides to quotation. One should not be biased toward regulating digital copying, but consider the value of diverse transformation of digital properties. This will trigger tension between private and public usage, or sharing of digital fabrications, which leads to the necessity of discussions on policy level. The interpretation of copyright is limited to protecting the copyright owner's right, but it should be suggested to widen the range to permitting fair use. The extended fair use of digital contents and by clarifying specific rules will activate creation and distribution of digital contents and contribute to more productive usage of innovation.

  • This study predicts the paradigm shift that the development of artificial intelligence technology will bring to the production of music content, and suggests that works created through collaboration between artificial intelligence and humans can have artistic value as finished products. Anyone can easily produce music content using artificial intelligence composition programs, and it has become an opportunity to inspire artists with various attempts and creative ideas. Although artificial intelligence technology provides convenience in human life and benefits a lot in the efficient aspect of work, it is difficult to escape the perception of data-based pattern music in the art field so far. Pattern music with many quantitative elements is not recognized as a complete creation due to the absence of abstract symbolism or meaning pursued by art. However, it predicts that if qualitative elements such as emotions and creativity are given to artificial intelligence music through human collaboration, it can be recognized as a complete work of art. The development of artificial intelligence technology increases access to culture and art from the public, and it can be expected that anyone can enjoy it as well as aesthetic experiences. In addition, various contents can be produced by improving individual digital literacy, and it is an opportunity to share and communicate with others. As such, artificial intelligence technology serves as a medium connecting the public with culture and art, and is narrowing the gap between humans and technology through art activities. Along with this cultural phenomenon, we predict the possibility of research on the production of artificial intelligence music contents with artistic value and the development of various convergence and complex art contents using artificial intelligence technology in the future.

Research on the Productions of Analog Pens within the Smart Media (스마트 미디어에서의 아날로그 펜화기법 제작 연구 -어플리케이션 "스케치 플러스"를 중심으로)

  • This research, mainly focused on the development of the iPhone exclusive app 'Sketch Plus', is on the production of pens within the smart media. Our goal is to develop and reproduce pens with surreal rendering as a base and during that process, describe the fusing process of design perspectives and algorithms. This research comprehends the concept of surreal rendering, which is a technique that mimics traditional art forms, and suggests 15 pen techniques and ways to display them by analyzing previous research on smart media. We have described the process of using hatching patterns and resused to solve lag problems that occur during the reproduction of pen techniques due to the limitations of smart devices and organized the conversion process of pen patterns into 4 steps: rough sketch, contrast, applying and mimicking patterns, and applying color. We hope that this research on the reproduction of analog pen techniques can be used as an example for production on fused surreal rendering.

  • This study deals with the technical approach related to the protection of digital video contents copyright, which has currently become a major issue in the digital contents market. With the production and distribution of digital video contents rapidly increasing, various policies and technical approaches are being made in relation to the protection of intellectual property rights. The technical approach from a DRM (Digital Rights Management) perspective was made from various angles, but its limitations have also been exposed in terms of convenience and quality. In this study, rather than the existing encoding certification and watermark technologies, it introduces technical approaches from a content-based copy detection method, while suggesting a copy detection method using the representative color sequence. In particular, this study takes into consideration the distribution environment of the domestic video market and deals with the technical approach in a direction that can control the illegal distribution of high quality videos.

  • Conventionally, when a zirconia fixed dental restoration is planned, the interim restoration is made manually and the final restoration is fabricated by the silicone impression taking at the prosthodontic stage. This conventional workflow does not provide direct relation between interim and final restorations. Moreover, the predictability of the final restoration could be low. Nowadays, the CAD/CAM based restoration fabrication and related digital techniques are developed and being applied in dentistry in multiple ways. This case report introduces a digital workflow for fabricating an optimal gingival adaptation and predictability of monolithic zirconia restoration by using CAD/CAM interim restoration, intra oral scan, and image superimposition technique in a case that required tooth extraction.

This trend is bringing positive changes to the South Korean animation industry, where diverse and high-quality animation content is becoming increasingly important. As investment in technology grows, video production technology continues to advance. Specifically, 3D animation and VFX production technologies are enabling effects that were previously unthinkable, offering detailed and realistic graphics. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is providing new opportunities for this technological growth. The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is automating repetitive tasks, thereby enhancing production efficiency and enabling innovations that go beyond traditional production methods. Cutting-edge technologies like 3D animation and VFX are being continually researched and are expected to be more actively integrated into the production process. Digital technology is also expanding the creative horizons for artists.   • Currently, Virtual Reality video content is rapidly increasing in number of users due to the rapid growth of related hardware and software. Accordingly, Virtual Reality animation is also being produced in a new form by rapidly integrating with Virtual Reality technology among video contents. Currently, research on Virtual Reality animation has focused on how films are produced and how they are directed, and no research has been done to organize the pipeline for efficient VR animation production. Therefore, this study drew the characteristics of the pre-render VR animation pipeline by comparing it with the production pipeline of the existing 3D animation to produce the VR animation efficiently. Through this, we presented organic integration of production and post production processes suitable for the production of VR animations and reduced rendering time using Render Pass for efficient production.

Case Study : Cinematography using Digital Human in Tiny Virtual Production (초소형 버추얼 프로덕션 환경에서 디지털 휴먼을 이용한 촬영 사례)

  • In this paper, we introduce a case study of cinematography using digital human in virtual production. This case study deals with the system overview of virtual production using LEDs and an efficient filming pipeline using digital human. Unlike virtual production using LEDs, which mainly project the background on LEDs, in this case, we use digital human as a virtual actor to film scenes communicating with a real actor. In addition, to film the dialogue scene between the real actor and the digital human using a real-time engine, we automatically generated speech animation of the digital human in advance by applying our Korean lip-sync technology based on audio and text. We verified this filming case by using a real-time engine to produce short drama content using real actor and digital human in an LED-based virtual production environment.
