  • One of the main reasons of information divide of multi-cultural family is caused by language barrier that is associated with low education level. In addition the social problem can be triggered by the information divide that may increase the gap of economic inequality. With respect to the overall capability of accessibility of digital devices and the level of data utilization, the parent of muiti-cultural family's level is inferior to that of the parents of an ordinary family. However the traditional learning contents management system for those parents is not appropriate to decease the gap of the information divide. To handle this problem, it is necessary to construct a customized learning contents management system that is used to support the education of the parents of multi-cultural family depending on the level of understanding the learning contents written in korean. In this paper we design the korean to korean translation based learning contents management system and show the result of its prototype.

Along with these increased demands and attention, the digital divide issues should be concerned to understand the informatization degrees of rural area residences, the elderly, the disabled, and the low-income. Furthermore, rural area residences may be the elderly, the disabled, and the low-income also. It may mean that the rural area should be considered as in noticeable status of the digital divide. This study focuses on the policy alternatives to reduce the digital divide in rural areas with a literature review methodology and on the factors on informatization issues in rural areas. For the aims, this study analyzes the EU cases of informatization in rural areas to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the suggested policies. As the analysis result, it is clear that the EU countries try to enhance the economic and growth powers rather to reduce the digital divide gaps. Also, it can be considered that the EU countries focus on supporting the rural area to adopt the non-contact information services newly rather on maintaining the IT education services and the infrastructures in off-line environments.

In addition, this study proposed five policies for activating library services for the low-income class: (1) To revise the act on library law so as to clarify the concept of low-income class, its criteria and types, (2) to revise the master plan for library development so as to bolster the library services for low-income class, (3) to conduct a national-level survey of the low-income class status and of the library service status, (4) to determine the actual features of the low-income class and their information demands, and (5) to prepare library services tailored to the diverse types of low-income class.

  • Recently, Korean society has emphasized the level of digital information usage in each individual's life due to the advent of the intelligent information society and the great digital transformation. The purpose of this study is to examine how the level of digital information usage of people with disabilities affects their satisfaction with life and whether social support moderates the relationship between the level of digital information usage and life satisfaction. This study analyzed the data of 2,200 people with disabilities taken from the 2020 Survey on the Digital Divide conducted by the National Information Society Agency. The results of the analysis suggest that people with disabilities have a higher degree of satisfaction when they are employed and have a higher than average monthly income and higher levels of digital information usage and social support. In addition, the results show that social support played a negative moderator role between the level of digital information usage and life satisfaction. This shows that life satisfaction can increase when the disabled frequently use digital devices and technologies in their daily lives without relying on social support, and suggested the need for intervention in policies and practice sites.

  • Individuals and organizations in the modern society produce diverse digital objects everyday, which are not only valuable information resources at present but also will be invaluable digital heritage for the future generation. TRAC(Trustworthy Repositories Audit & Certification: Criteria & Checklist) is one of the evaluating tools against which digital archives could be assessed for their preparedness to perform the task of long-term preservation. The current study uses TRAC to assess OASIS(Online Archiving & Searching Internet Source). The results show that the web archive has a greater room for strengthening in the object management infrastructure than in organizational and technical infrastructures.

  • Modern society has become a "digital risk society" with the rapid advancement of digital technologies. The growing use of digital tools in education has led to discussions on managing digital risks that arise in teaching and learning contexts. Among all subjects, science education has experienced significant digital transformation, emphasizing the need for strategies to address digital risks within the subject. This study explores digital literacy education as a possible approach to addressing digital risks in science education. To achieve this, the study analyzes the types of digital risks prevalent in modern society and examines the trends of research on digital risks within the context of digital literacy education. This was done by collecting 415 SSCI articles published over the past decade (2014-2023) with the keyword "Digital Risk" and conducting topic modeling and hierarchical clustering to identify types of digital risks. Additionally, 110 KCI articles published with the keyword "Digital Literacy Education" were collected and classified according to the identified digital risk types. These articles were then compared and analyzed based on publication year, school level, and subject to understand the characteristics of digital risks within science education. The findings are as follows: First, the identified digital risk types include intellectual property infringement, spreading fake news, privacy infringement, cyber financial crimes, gaps in digital literacy, digital technology overdependence, and social structural risks. Second, an analysis of publication trends over the years revealed that discussions on digital risks increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, with research on the digital literacy gap being the most prominent. Third, in terms of school level, digital literacy education addressing digital risks was more actively researched in primary education than in secondary education. Finally, subject-area analysis indicated that science education had the lowest proportion of research on digital risks relative to overall digital literacy studies. In science education, discussions primarily focused on intellectual property infringement, spreading fake news, and gaps in digital literacy. This study emphasizes the importance of addressing digital risks in science education and provides foundational data for further discussions on this topic.
