  • The purpose of this study is to suggest IC concepts and some basic ideas of construction of public library's application model based of NDL IC Model. In order to successful introduction and construction of IC in public library, it should be preceded that some ideas of IC space concepts and constructual direction, physical space and facilities plan and gradual progress that introduce to the IC concepts.

  • 기존의 도서관은 이용자의 다양한 정보욕구와 정보량의 증가, 컴퓨터기술 및 정보통신기술의 획기적 발달에 따라 머지 않은 장래에 디지털 도서관으로 변신할 것이다. 그러나 소장자료의 디지털화는 많은 제약과 문제점이 있기 때문에 이에 대한 체계적인 검토와 방안이 마련되지 않을 때에는 디지털화자체가 이루어지지 않을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 도서관 소장자료를 디지털화하는데 야기될 수 있는 문제점을 조사하고, 그 해결점을 제시한다.

An Analysis of the Operation of Digital Resources Room and ie Effect in School Libraries (학교도서관 디지털자료실 운영현황과 효과분석)

  • This paper aims to suggest new strategies for operating school library digital resource room by analyzing the current states of 349 school library digital resource room and its educational effects. The project for school library digital resource room provided the foundations for the various informational and educational services : extended information materials, changes in library environment, collecting information through the web sites, providing authentic materials, reading instruction, library assisted instruction (LAI). The suggestions are as follows. 1) The national standards is required for the digital resources room in school libraries. 2) Reading and information literacy instruction should be institutionalized. 3) Library assisted instruction (LAI) should be included in school curriculum. 4) Professionally qualified teacher librarians are required for planning and managing the school library. 5) School library in-service program is needed for all members of the school community.

  • The present thesis aims to analyze in consideration of recent changes in teaching environment in the universities the commercial digital contents and e-learning courses provided by the libraries, and to propose the ways to encourage university library service needed under the current situation. A survey of professors and students upon the quality of commercial digital contents service provided by the libraries in I University was made to measure its influence upon e-learning courses. The quality of commercial digital contents service provided by libraries was measured through Digital Library Service Quality Index (which will be referred as DL-SQL Model from here), which is used as a model to examine the Digital Library Service, with partial adjustments of 4 levels (information system service, digital books service, customer service quality, and customer community service) and 7 components (search possibility, an exclusive organization and interface, accessibility, digital books, customer support service, personalized service, and customer community). Among the library services in regard to digital contents, "customer service" and "customer community service" were analyzed to have stronger influence upon e-learning teaching and studying than quality-based service for "information system" and "digital books". Consequently, it is concluded that customized information service provided by the library for the professors who teach e-learning courses and their students is more influential to supporting e-learning courses than quantity pushing service through purchasing commercial digital contents, upon which the direction of digital contents policy to provide library services for e-learning courses should be based.

  • This study aims to investigate the current state of digital literacy education in Korean public libraries and suggest improvements. The education programs were analyzed, which are offered in the National Library of Korea and related social and educational institutions, in order to explore the digital literacy education program required for public libraries. An interview was conducted with 38 librarians of the regional central libraries. Respondents reported that a cooperative program for digital literacy education with national library is essential, due to the lack of the budget and digital literacy resources. Based on the analysis, a model of the National Digital Library Information Literacy Education and the cooperative programs for digital literacy education were proposed.

도서관탐방 - LG상남도서관을 다녀와서

  • '도서관문화' 1994년에는 1년 치를 통틀어 보아도 이 단어는 없었다. 그러나 2004년 현재는 1쪽에만도 수 십 개가 보인다. 그 단어는 바로 '디지털'이다. 바로 그 디지털 붐이 일기 시작하던 당시 LG상남도서관은 국내 최초의 디지털도서관으로 이용자뿐만 아니라 국내 도서관계의 주목을 받았다. 그러나 LG상남도서관의 핵심서비스인 원문전송은 2000년 저작권법 개정으로 중단되었다. 그렇다면 그 이후 도서관은 어떤 방식으로 운영되고 있을까, 그 궁금증을 풀기 위해 이번 달에는 LG상남도서관을 찾아가 보았다.

Interdisciplinary Collaborations in the Domain of Digital Libraries (디지털도서관 분야의 학제적 공동연구 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The domain of digital libraries is one of interdisciplinary fields since it contains various aspects of digital libraries. The main findings of digital library interdisciplinarity have been discussed in terms of contents, management and infrastructural technologies within the field of library and information science. The purpose of this study is to identify and widen the interdisciplinary structure of digital library domain by analyzing the collaborations from different disciplines. With 1,394 research articles of digital libraries from 1997 to 2010, the analysis of collaborations of authors from various disciplines was conducted. The results identified that three subject areas of authors such as Information science and library science, Computer science and Engineering were found as the centers to collaborate with various disciplines. In addition, sub-domains of digital library were recognized in terms of core digital library area, natural science area, medical related area and biology and medical area. The findings of this study depict the domain of digital libraries as a variety of subject areas since digital library domain is characterized with both research and practices.

A Study of the Current Status of Older Adults' Digital Literacy Programs in Public Libraries and Improvement Plans (공공도서관 노인 디지털 리터러시 프로그램 현황 및 개선방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the operation status of digital literacy programs for the elderly in public libraries and to understand the perception of librarians in charge of the programs in order to suggest plans to improve them in Korean public libraries. To this end, this study performed the following: first, the status of digital literacy programs in 157 public libraries across Korea was examined and analyzed. Second, digital literacy programs provided for older adults by overseas public libraries were explored. Third, an online survey was conducted with 92 librarians in charge of library programs at Korean public libraries. Based on the results, this study suggested plans to improve older adults' digital literacy programs in public libraries in terms of operational and content aspects. This study is expected to provide basic data for the operation of older adults' digital literacy programs in Korean public libraries.
