  • The purpose of this study was to explore the cultural perspectives and experiences relating to insulin therapy among the diabetes. The authors conducted four semi-structured focus groups and individual interviews with 19 adults with type 1 and 2 diabetes, focusing on the personal experiences and thoughts regarding insulin therapy. Patients' perspectives and experiences relating to taking insulin formed three categories of themes: preoccupations about insulin, barriers to taking insulin, and benefits to taking insulin. The theme for preoccupations about insulin was "vague fear," while the theme of barriers to taking insulin were "worrisome insulin-related issues", "ambivalent feelings (trust/mistrust) about healthcare providers," "dependent life," "feeling about supporters(family, friends, and religion)," "inconvenience," "regret about the past," and "embarrassment." The theme of benefits to taking insulin were "recognition" and "physical recovery and confidence in regulating blood glucose". Based on this study, patients' feelings about their insulin should be respected by healthcare providers.

  • A migraine was a headache disorder characterized by recurrent moderate to severe headaches. The diagnosis was based on clinical signs and symptoms. Medication, physical therapy, nerve block, and nerve stimulation could be applied for treatment. This report described a case of severe migraine without aura that lasted several weeks periodically in a 59-year-old woman. Periodic headache had lasted for more than 14 years, and although she took medicines and nerve blocks, severe pain (VAS 7) was persisted. We recommended her to use the thermo-spinal massage device (CGM MB-1401, CERAGEM Inc., Cheonan, South Korea) continuously three times a week applying in semi-automatic mode around the neck for 40 minutes. There was no change in the pain scale in the automatic mode for the first 4 weeks. Subsequently, the semi-automatic mode of the cervical area was treated for 2 weeks to relieve the pain scale, and it was confirmed that the relieved state maintained for 2 months. This case highlighted the importance in considering thermo-spinal massage devices for managing migraine without aura.

The present study was conducted with ten subjects, participating for eight weeks between January and November 2014. Subjects performed trunk mobilization and stretching routines for 30 minutes per day for three days each week. The study results showed that there were significant improvements in FVC and FEV1, trunk posture, trunk movement and physical fatigue(p<.05). The study results verified that trunk mobilization and stretching activities can be used as respiratory orthopedic manual therapy to improve respiratory function, trunk posture, trunk movement and physical fatigue simultaneously for elderly with respiratory impairment. Continuous studies through therapeutic convergence with the exercise field along with the respiratory orthopedic manual therapy that used in this study for elderly people with restrictive lung diseases will be necessary for the future.

  • This study was designed to compare the effects of individual sensory integration treatments on the improvement of motor skills and group psychomotorik activities that produce a wide range of interactions with peers. The research targets two 4-year-old children, who are currently in the main building, and 40 minutes of psychomotorik and sensory integration treatment were applied to them twice a week from April 2017 to January 2018. The study method used assessment tools such as B-O test, DeGangi-Berk Test of Sensory Integration (TSI), and MOT4-6 respectively. The results of the study showed that programs in both areas had positive effects on motor skills, with significantly improved performance in balance and postural control, in particular.

  • This study investigated the effects of corrective exercise and TECAR on cervical alignment, pain threshold, and pain in forward head posture patients. The subject includes 30 forward head posture patients. In the intervention methods, the experimental group combined corrective exercise and TECAR treatment. Only the corrective exercise was applied to the control group. Assessments were made on cervico vertebra angle (CV angle), pain pressure threshold (PPT) and neck disability index (NDI) visual analog scale (VAS). The intervention was conducted six times a week for two weeks. Both groups showed significant differences in CV angle, PPT, NDI, and VAS. Also, PPT, NDI, and VAS excluding CV angle were significantly improved in the study group compared to the control group. These results suggest that the intervention method that combines corrective exercise and TECAR treatment has a more positive effect on pain and ADL ability of forward head posture patient.

  • This study was conducted to examine the oral health, dental treatment and insurance awareness of the community during the COVID-19 period from September 1 to October 29, 2021 for patients who visited a local dental clinic in Gangwon-do. For analysis, SPSS Statistics 24.0 program was used. As a result of the analysis, it was found that oral health status, interest in oral health, and awareness of health insurance expansion affect dental treatment during the COVID-19 period. In addition, those who did not receive oral health education, those with a high school diploma or lower, and those with poor oral health showed positive results for dental treatment during the COVID-19. In conclusion, it is necessary to expand publicity on oral health education, and to list the cost of infection control in health insurance and separate compensation materials. In future research, I think that it is necessary to conduct research through a variety of subjects and study the expansion of insurance in detail.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact on people's willingness to take korean medicine based on the perception of korean medicine treatment effects by disease, and provide basic data when the herbal medicine (pharmacology) health insurance pilot project is carried out. The survey 'Usage and Consumption of Korean Medicine Report in 2017' was used, and frequency analysis, chi-square test, and logistic regression analysis were conducted on 3,032 people. Logistic regression results showed that the perception of herbal treatment effects on digestive diseases and arthritis was a significant factor in the future intention to take korean medicine. As the herbal medicine health insurance pilot project aims to popularize herbal medicine treatment through the management of the quality of korean medicine by incorporating it within the system, it is necessary to consider highly acceptable digestive diseases and arthritis when expanding target diseases.

  • Interest in Serious Games for Healthcare (SGHs) that can improve health through games is increasing. Digital Therapeutics (DTx) is a treatment that must be approved for effectiveness and safety, so it should follow the traditional drug distribution method, but SGHs are wellness products that are more flexible in terms of adoption and diffusion than DTx. SGHs are effective because it can provide customized services through continuous monitoring and feedback. When SGHs are applied to cognitive impairment treatment or behavioral correction, malfunctions and side effects are minor. This study developed research model based on the Valence Framework, gathered data from 142 undergraduates, and demonstrated that only the perceived benefits have a statistically significant positive (+) effect on SGHs acceptance intentions. Based on these results, this study suggests that SGHs companies should promote benefits in accepting SGHs for general users and they need for a distribution and analytics platform strategy based on a data-driven approach.
