A Digital Audio Respose System Based on the RELP Algorithm (RELP 방식을 이용한 디지털 음성 응답기)

  • This paper describes the overall procedure of the development of a digital audio response system. It has been developed specifically as an answering system to the inquiries of telephone numbers from subscribers. The system has been realized based on the residual excited linear prediction (RELP) algorithm that incorporates a pitch predictive loop. Its major advantage over other similar systems is that it produces high quality of synthetic speech, although its memory size is relatively small. The hardware which consists of a speech synthesizer, a controller and an I/O part has been constructed using 2900 series bit-slice microprocessors and an INTEL 8085 microprocessor. The system is capable of real time processing, reliable, and adaptable to other applications.

Design of Bit-Pattern Specialized Adder for Constant Multiplication (고정계수 곱셈을 위한 비트패턴 전용덧셈기 설계)

  • The problem of an efficient hardware implementation of multiple constant multiplication is frequently encountered in many digital signal processing applications such as FIR filter and linear transform (e.g., DCT and FFT). It is known that efficient solutions based on common subexpression elimination (CSE) algorithm can yield significant improvements with respect to the area and power consumption. In this paper, we present an efficient specialized adder design method for two common subexpressions ($10{\bar{1}}$, 101) in canonic signed digit (CSD) coefficients. By Synopsys simulations of a radix-24 FFT example, it is shown that the proposed method leads to about 21%, 11% and 12% reduction in the area, propagation delay time and power consumption compared with the conventional methods, respectively.

  • The development of a compact and high performance MWIR thermal imaging sensor based on the SOFRADIR 320${\times}$240 element IRCCD detector is described. The sensor has 20 magnification zoom optics with the maximum 40$^{\circ}$${\times}$30$^{\circ}$ of super wide field of view and 7.6 cycles/mrad of resolving power with the operation of attached micro-scanning system. In order to correct nonuniformities of detector arrays, we have proposed a multi-point correction method using defocusing of the optics and we have acquired the highest quality images. The MRTD of our system shows good results below 0.05K at spatial frequency 1 cycles/mrad at narrow field of view. Experimental data and obtained performances are presented and discussed.

  • Traffic network is composed of passing vehicls, delayed vehicles, traffic situation which is traffic incomes of traffic interfacing system. Traffic green time light is concluded by inside input factor, that is green light cycle, yellow light cycle, led light cycle, which light cycle is sensor inputs. That light cycle is converted to traffic phase composed of passing peoples and delayed vehicles, whose intervals is concluding of traffic network factors composed of consumptiom power factors, delayed time situation, occupying sensor nodes. This is very important sector,because of much poor traffic situation.

  • The method of the reduction of the duct noise can be classified by the method of passive control and the method of active control. However, the passive control method has a demerit to reduce the effect of noise reduction at low frequency (below 500Hz) range and to be limited by a space. Whereas, the active control method can overcome the demerit of passive control method. The algorithm of active control is mostly used the Least-Mean-Square (LMS) algorithm because the LMS algorithm can easily obtain the complex transfer function in real-time. Especially, When the Filtered-X LMS (FXLMS) algorithm is applied to an ANC system.

  • This paper presents a linear temperature/voltage relation over a temperature range(0~100$^{\circ}C$) with high-resolution, reasonably god response linearity, reliability, and overall improved performance. A notable feature of the proposed method is that the whole temperature span is divided by 16 subbands thus the variation span of measured voltage is narrowed. Therefore noise characteristic has been improved. The output voltage is amplified after the uniformed DC voltage component is eliminated by offset. We proposed circuit using median value and mean value of digital signal in order to reduce the noise effect. The proposed circuit offers linear temperature/voltage conversion over a wide dynamic range using DSP(TMS320C31) and steinhart equation.

  • Due to the high power to weight ratio and fast response under heavy load, the hydraulic systems are still applied to the development of many industrial facilities such as heavy duty construction vehicles, aerospace/military weapon actuating systems and motion simulators. Unlike the other actuators, single-rod hydraulic cylinder exhibits a lot different dynamic characteristics between the extending and retracting stroke because of the difference in pressure acting areas. In this research, in order to overcome this nonlinear feature, $H_{\infty}$ optimal controller was designed and implemented with DSP board that was specifically developed for the experiment. From the experimental result, we could confirm that the overall performance of single-rod hydraulic servo system is similar with the results as we expected in the design stage.

  • Polishing work for a curved surface die demands simple and repetitive operations and requires much time while it also demands high precision. Therefore it is operated by skilled worker in handiwork. Howener workers avoid polishing work gradually because of the poor environments such as dust and noise. In order to reduce the polishing time and to alleviate the problem of shortage of skilled workers, researches for automation of polishing have been pursued in the developed countries. In the research, a polishing robot with 2 degrees of freedom motion attached to machining center with 3 degrees of freedom and pneumatic system forms an automatic polishing system which keeps the polishing tool vertically on the surface of die and maintains constant pneumatic pressure. A synchronization between machining center and polishing robot is accomplished by using M code of machining center. A rulled surface and shadow mask are polished by the developed polishing robot.

  • This paper presents the active control of flexible beam vibration. The beam was excited by a steady-state point force by mini shaker and the control was performed by mini shaker. To perform active control, least-mean-square (LMS) algorithm was used because it can easily obtain the complex transfer function in real-time. So an adaptive controller based on Filtered-X LMS algorithm was used and the controller was defined by minimizing the square of the response at a location of error sensor. In order to fine out performance tendency, input amplitude was changed in several cases and active vibration control was performed.

  • This paper presents a real time distance measuring device using a W-band linear frequency modulated continuous wave(FMCW) radar and TMS320C6701 digital signal processor(DSP). We used FFT operation for measuring distance with the beat signals and the results of FFT could be converted to distance with ease. We presented how to implement a real time miniaturized hardware system including network protocols using a single DSP core. Also how to control the modulation signal of FMCW system to compensate the VCO nonlinearity using the Time Gating control of DSP is presented. We have shown that the proposed system has good performances for measuring distance in real time via outdoor environment experiments.
