  • The purpose of this study is to organize the system of special characters as UX/UI icon design elements, thus laying the groundwork for improvement direction for unclear use regulations. This study examines the theoretical background of UX/UI design and special characters and discovers UX/UI design and special characters' relations and assignments. Besides, the case study summarizes the system of special characters being utilized in the company's UX/UI icon design guidelines to produce the study results. As a result of the analysis, the special character types being utilized in UX/UI were graphic characters, mathematical symbols, punctuation marks, and parentheses. And the special characters commonly used in analysis cases, iOS, Android, and Windows, are ▶, ♥, ★, ○, ⊙, +, ×, ⋯. So this study organizes the common characters to standardize them. Hopefully, this study contributes to increasing the interest in the study of 'special characters' in the UX/UI design field and helps establish a framework for future industrial standards.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the state-of-the-art daylighting design among LEED(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) multi-family housing cases and to explore the feasibilities for their applications in domestic housing design. Occupants in multi-family houses are reported to consume more electricity power than those in single houses. That may imply the problems of daylighting design in domestic housing design for multi-family houses have better insulation system and less windows and outside walls than single houses. Therefore two systems, daylight delivery system and daylight control system, are scrutinized for daylighting design with LEED cases. The findings show when windows as a daylight delivery system are combined with overhangs, fins, louvers, fenestration materials, speciality fenestration, or interior controls as a daylight control system, the outcome goes with more energy savings and better facade design. Beside those, lightshelves as a daylight delivery system seem to have potentials in domestic multi-family houses with deep plans and less outside walls. Daylighting designs in domestic multi-family houses need to pursue available options more to achieve the integration of energy and aesthetics values.

  • 3D printing technology has been receiving attention as a key technology in that it can output 3D printed designs that are either virtual or flat. This study analyzed the general manufacturing process by first compiling the concept of shoes, presented the 3D printed shoe manufacturing process, and studied custom manufacturing techniques by dividing the produced shoe cases by brand (sports brand, designer brand). Through case analysis, 4 design manufacturing techniques of 3D printed shoes were derived. Therefore, this study is expected to provide a basis for more advanced creative ideas in the shoe design area using 3D printing.

  • The plastic furniture made of new materials has enriched and broadened our everyday life not only through development of manufacture but also through consumptions since 1960's. In relation as well to the need of reducing energy consumption and contributing to environment, the weight of plastic materials has raised concerns in recently. Our rapidly changing lifestyle demands a new design that meet recognition of inflection. In conclusion, as we are preparing to enter into the 21st Century, we should go forward with hope and do so with dispatch-dazzling all of us with boldness, thinking imaginatively, transform indifference into action, moving things to the next level in plastic industries. From this study we have found that it would be useful to understand that the development of technological plastic materials for seat furniture has enabled designers to create more and more sophisticated design in our millennium life.

  • Using content analysis, this study explored design differences between Korean and the U.S. corporate characters. Top 100 corporate logs are collected from Korea and the United States. The results showed that Korean characters appear a group of or friends than the ones of the U.S. This result stems from the collective nature of Korea. Korea used more motif of things than the U.S., and Korean personalized characters more often that those of the U.S. Uses of human and animals did not showed statistical differences. In addition, it is found that Korea used blue as main color, and the U.S. used red as main color more often. The number of colors used in character design is not statistically different. These findings could provide academic implications that cultural differences could be adapted to corporate character marketing, and also provide managerial implications.

  • This current study employs multi-year design-based research to design and implement a course in teacher education in Korea. Specifically this paper reports our first attempt to work with 3 primary in-service teachers majoring in computer education. We have incorporated design thinking (DT) into the course design and investigated how primary teachers appreciate the role of DT and recognize the connection between teaching computational thinking and DT. This qualitative study reports the course design, its progression, reflections, and learning outcomes.

  • This paper aims to summarize and analyze the optical illusion designs in magazine advertisements. By giving questionnaires that compare print advertisements using the optical illusion design method and traditional print magazine advertisements without adopting the method, the paper performs a quantitative analysis of technical statistics along with a factor analysis of reliability and exploration using IBM SPSS 27.0. when designing through visual illusion expression methods, you can design from the perspective of visual impact and how the information contained in the product is expressed. While making full use of the characteristics of visual illusion, appropriate use of the combination of visual language and overall structure to maximize the brand The effectiveness of information transmission.

  • This article analyzed the building regulations, the guidelines for the people with disabilities, and the interior environment of the transportation facilities of Stockholm and Oslo, which wee capital cities of leading countries in this field. Result showed that Swedish 'BBR 94' was made and based on accessibility, safety, and efficiency. But the mandatory items and detailed recommendations were minimal. 'The Swedish Handicap Institute' provided more detailed requirements. As a result of case studies of 4 facilities, it appeared that these facilities used sufficient dimension, variable color, different material, or adaptable lightings in order to provide easy accessibility, adaptability, safety, support, and mobility for the people with disabilities instead of keeping the building regulations and guidelines reluctantly.
