Adaptation of Contextual Research on Elderly Users' Needs in Using Mobile Phone (문맥적 조사기법을 적용한 고령사용자의 휴대폰 관련 요구사항 도출에 관한 연구)

  • 디지털 컨버전스가 가속화됨에 따라 휴대폰의 기능은 나날이 복잡해져 가고 있으며, 이러한 경향은 사람들에게 자신에게 불필요한 기능까지 익혀야 하는 불편함을 초래하고 있다, 특히, 단순한 통화방식에 익숙하고 인지적으로 새로운 것을 유연하게 받아들이지 못하는 고령 사용자들에게도 이미 생활필수품이 된 휴대폰은 사용하는데 어렵고 불편한 부분이 많이 있다. 본 연구에서는 한국의 고령사용자들을 대상으로 휴대폰 사용에 있어 문맥적, 정성적 조사(Contextual & Qualitative research)기법을 적용하여 평소 그들이 일상생활에서 느끼는 휴대폰 관련 요구사항을 도출하고자 하였다. 조사는 세 단계로 이루어졌다. 먼저, 휴대폰을 사용 중인 60대 이상 고령사용자 83명을 대상으로 사용 현황 및 수준을 파악하고 적절한 사용자를 섭외하기 위한 설문을 진행하였으며, 둘째, 초보사용자 8명, 중급사용자 3명을 대상으로 휴대폰 사용 기록을 기반으로 하는 심층인터뷰를 진행하였으며, 초보사용자들을 대상으로는 문자메세지, 전화번호부, 카메라 폰 기능 교육 세션을 통한 행동 관찰법을 시행하였다. 마지막으로, 교육 세션 한달 후, 사용성 평가와 추가 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 이상과 같이 장기간에 걸친 사용자 조사를 통해, 고령사용자들의 휴대폰 사용에 있어 심리, 문화적 특이사항과 인터랙션 상의 불편요소들을 발견할 수 있었으며, 수집된 동영상 데이터를 분석하여 고령사용자의 휴대폰 관련 요구사항을 신체적 요인, 인지적요인, 심리적 요인의 세가지로 구분하여 제시하였다. 본 연구에서는 문맥적, 정성적 사용자 조사를 통해 고령사용자들의 일상생활에서의 휴대폰 관련 요구사항을 도출함으로써 풍부하고 실증적인 경험데이터를 수집할 수 있었다. 이와 같이 도출된 요구사항 데이터는 이후 고령사용자를 위한 유니버설 디자인 휴대폰 개발 전략수립과 UI 디자인 개발에 활용되었다. 뿐만 아니라, 이 연구는 휴대폰 사용 경험 연구에 적용할 수 있는 문맥적 조사기법 프로세스의 사례를 제시하고 있다는데 의의가 있다고 하겠다.

  • 1990 년대부터 본격적으로 시작된 국내 휴대폰의 역사는 불과 10 년 사이에 전체 인구 중 3600 만명 이상의 가입자가 휴대폰을 사용하고 있는 모바일 강국으로 발전하였다. 국내 이동통신사들의 다양한 서비스 전략과 단말 제조사들의 다양한 기술의 발전으로 휴대폰은 단순한 전화기능만을 담당하는 커뮤니케이션 디바이스(Communication Device)에서 다양한 VOD, AOD 서비스들의 도입으로 엔터테인먼트 디바이스(Entertainment Device)로 발전했고, DMB, TV, MP3, 카메라 등 다양한 디바이스들이 결합된 컨버전스 기능성 기기(Functional Device)로 발전해 가고 있다. 이런 과정에서 사용자들은 휴대폰에서 다양한 경험을 하게 된다. 본 연구는 다양한 매체와 디바이스가 결합 된 모바일 환경 속에서 이동통신사와 제조사의 관점에서 분석한 자료를 바탕으로 하나의 통합된 경험을 사용자들에게 제공할 수 있는 방법을 고찰해 보고자 한다. 휴대폰을 만드는 제조업체가 수행하는 경험 디자인은 이동통신사에 상관없이, 자사의 경험 통일성(identity)을 강조하게 되고, 이동통신사는 제조업체와 상관없이 자사의 경험 통일성을 강조하게 된다. 통일성 뿐만 아니라 기능이나 직무(task)의 중요성도 다르기 때문에 경험 디자인을 위한 우선순위도 다르게 된다. 이것의 결과는 모두 사용자가 떠 앉게 된다. 즉 사용자의 경험이 복잡해지게 되고 이것은 장기적으로 제조업체 및 이동통신사 모두에게 불이익을 주게 된다. 본 논문에서는 제조사와 이통사를 위한 사용자 경험 모형을 세웠고, 각 요소별로 접근 방법의 차이에 대해 논의를 하였다. 사용자가 휴대폰 경험에서 혼돈을 적게 하기 위해서는 제조사와 이통사의 인터랙션은 서로 일관성이 있어야 하고, 스타일 부문에서는 서로간의 입장차이가 좁히기 쉽지 않으므로 둘 다 사용자의 선택의 폭을 넓혀주는 방향으로 진행을 한다. 기획단계에서 부터 협력을 함으로써 양사의 갭을 줄일 수 있다.

  • In this paper, web-base image processing system has been implemented for remote-controlled medical robot applications. The developed software system was hierarchically composed of diverse image processing and remote operation modules, and the hierarchical composition was satisfied the expandability to higher level application and the accessibility over the web. It can also support diverse file formats including DICOM, VRML, and CAD(STL) to display, transmit, store and share the processed images depending on application environment. Message-based data exchange, object-oriented module and open-source based software configuration will enable the dynamic combination associated with diverse remote medical application requirements.

  • Rapid development of electronic technology has made it possible to perform various function. But this technology made it increase it's complexity. Therefore, It was important to identify usability problem in interface design. The quality of interface to promote the efficient interaction should be evaluated with regard to users' cognitive characteristics. So, in this paper, washing machine, that is one of the most useful electronic home application was studied menu structure on interface and it's operational states transition. At first, an cognitive menu structure is identified with users' conceptual similarity of the main function of washing machine. Then three washing machines was selected to compare with the cognitive menu structure. And, we were analyzed how operational state of the washing machine was transfered. As a result, we can be revealed that menu operational method based on the cognitive structure was consistent with the user's preferred operational method during the experimental tasks and the users and designers had a different knowledge of an it's function structure. These results will be useful to design the washing machine interface.

  • The weapon system has developed by adding various functions because of the warfare change. And, an weapon system test set (WSTS) that is used to test and judge the condition of weapon system also deal with a lot of complex information. However, almost WSTS is developed on the basis of developer-centric. Because of it, it is hard to make a result by apprehending information on WSTS's display. Thus, I proposed a new display of WSTS by adapting the Ecological Interface Design(EID) Methodology to reduce operator's cognitive workload and assure safe testing. WSTS's Display is developed through Information Requirement and Work Domain Model as a result of Work Domain Analysis. The most powerful thing in the new display is that operator can identify his testing and status of WSTS directly. I expect that it reduces operator's cognitive workload and helps safe testing.

  • The Type Object Design Pattern is proposed to provide a solution on the situation in the case that one class has too many subclasses or the number of subclasses are undefined. Although this pattern has many advantages in terms of applicability and dynamic object behavior, it has a weak point in runtime pattern operation that it has to build and maintain a class reference mechanism in runtime to reference the class (de facto 'object') of instances. To solve that problem, this paper addresses the solution of the runtime class reference problem of Type Object Pattern. it defines a new class of Type Object Class (TOC) from Type Class and Object Class in Type Object pattern and presents the methods of creating, compiling, and memory-loading the TOC. It depends on built-in class reference mechanism of object-oriented programming language, and is not necessary to fit with the additional mechanism. Consequently, we need not to set up the additional class reference mechanism and system performance is enhanced due to it.

  • This study aims to explore the formativeness of 3D printed parametric fashion products while parametric design-based 3D printed fashion products are increasing. As a research method, theoretical review was conducted and formative properties of 3D printing parametric fashion products were derived, and cases of 3D printing parametric fashion products were collected and examined into three types of clothing, shoes, and accessories. As a result of the study, it was possible to confirm the shape with the motif of a natural object, and structurally, the economical optimal structure, assembly structure, and natural structure were confirmed. was found to use natural and achromatic colors. Through the understanding of the formativeness of 3D printing parametric fashion products presented in this study, it is expected that it will be used as basic data to understand the spread and formative flow of parametric-based fashion products.

  • In the past, designers relied primarily on past experience and reference to industry standard thresholds to design spaces. Such design often results in spaces that do not meet the needs of users. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the process and way of generating design parameters by constructing a BP neural network algorithm for spatial design. From the perspective. This paper adopts an experimental research method to take a kindergarten with a large number of complex needs in space as the object of study, and through the BP neural network algorithm in machine learning, the correlation between environmental behavior parameters and spatial design parameters is imprinted. The way of generating spatial design parameters is studied. In the future, the corresponding spatial design parameters can be derived by replacing specific environmental behavior influence factors, which can be applied to a wider range of scenarios and improve the efficiency of designers.

  • The inconvenience of using the product weakens the competitiveness of the product and makes it difficult to obtain various users. This study proposes a 5-step evaluation method that is derived from a formal usability evaluation to suggest improvement directions for easier and more convenient manipulation of complex or inconvenient user interface. The 5-step usability evaluation method can not be applied to all broadcasting equipments, but it is expected to improve the user interface of broadcasting equipments. In addition, it is expected to provide an opportunity to more flexible access to user interface development to be applied to new application services in a variety of telecommunication convergence equipment industry, while leading the era of convergence of broadcasting industry throughout broadcasting equipment industry.

Implementation of an Arduino Compatible Modular Kit for Educational Purpose (모듈 기반 교육용 아두이노 호환 키트 제작)

  • With the curriculum revision in 2015, informatics for secondary high schools was designated as mandatory. As a result, there is an increasing interest in programming in elementary and junior high schools as well as in universities. Arduino is one of the famous tools for programming education, and the usefulness of it has been proven through various case studies. However, existing Arduino-based kits have hardware-dependent drawbacks such as complicated wiring, poor scalability, etc. To overcome these problems, we proposed a kit design, which has a module-based structure, can be extended through one common interface, and can be used for learning at various levels. In this paper, we describe the implementation details of FRUTO kit and a software to use it, which satisfies the proposed design criteria. FRUTO kit has been determined in its current form through several design changes, and is under pre-test before launching.
