  • 공학시스템의 설계 문제는 시스템 구성이 복잡하고, 구조적으로 열려있으며, 전기, 기계, 유압, 열등의 서로 다른 에너지 도메인 구성 요소를 포함한다. 최적의 설계를 위해서는 각 도메인에 대한 통합된 설계 방법과 자동적이고 구조적으로 열린 공간에 대한 효율적인 탐색방법이 요구된다. 본 논문은 도메인에 독립적이며 모델링과 해석에 장점을 가진 본드 그래프 (bond graph)와 대규모 공간 해의 탐색에 접합한 진화 알고리즘의 일종인 유전자 프로그래밍(Genetic Programming)을 결합하여 멀티 도메인 동적시스템에 대한 디자인 해를 자동적으로 생성해주는 설계 방법을 제시하고, 제안된 설계방법의 효용성을 입증하기 위해서 이를 아나로그 필터 설계에 문제에 적용하였다.

A study on the relationship between user's preference and aesthetic elements, and the importance of aesthetic elements in product design - With relevance to Electrical Home Appliances - (제품디자인에 있어 사용자 선호와 심미적 영향요소의 상호관계와 디자인 고려 요소에 관한 연구 - 가전제품을 중심으로 -)

  • In the highly developing industrial society, design has been playing the central role in the managerial strategy of a company and has been one of the central agendas in determining the economical competence of a country, and has also been regarded as a means to acquire sustainable superior competence. Thus, these trends suggest that the aesthetic value of a product has become more important than its technological function. In this study we reviewed theoretically esthetic factors influencing the preference and the evaluation of a product and made a list of eight esthetic factors based on various referential studies which include simplicity, balance, unity, rhythm, style, novelty, typicality, and proportion. We investigated the esthetic factors affecting consumers preferences and the basis for evaluating a product. Conclusively, this study aimed at providing materials for developing product design by presenting an esthetic guideline and to put these materials to practical use. The study also investigated other considered elements classified by manufactures and the importance of esthetic factors and its influence on consumer tastes.

  • It takes only few seconds to find an artifact that has anthropomorphic form. There are numerous examples illustrating human's shape in daily life products. Usage of anthropomorphic form has been a basic design strategy especially when industrial designers design intelligent service robots because most of robot features were basically from human. Therefore, it's necessary to use anthropomorphic form not only in appearance design but also in interaction design. To use anthropomorphic form effectively, it needs to measure how much the artifact is similar to human, and then to evaluate whether the usage of anthropomorphic form fits to the artifact. This study's goal was to set up an evaluation standard for anthropomorphism for robot design. We suggest that there are three criteria for the evaluation standard. Those are 'anthropomorphic form in appearance', 'anthropomorphic form in Human-Robot Interaction', and 'accordance in two former criteria'. We expect that when designers put an evaluation step of anthropomophism in their design process of robots, robots might become more preferred by users, and easier to understand how to interact with.

  • I conducted this study, trying to improve the methods of Sung-Nam city local tax bills, which was based on my previous study where I suggested methods into developing redesign of tax bills. Local tax bills are labeled to be very intricate and puzzling experience to tax payers. To resolve this issue, several local governments have redesigned their tax bills for citizens; however, it was not effective. Therefore I apply the methods to protect their privacy on tax bills and provide checks on their pay bills. Also I design to distinguish between different taxes and change into a better layout for their legibility and better understanding on tax bills. From my previous study, I utilized suggestions into Sung-Nam local tax bills which changed flaws into improvements and easier understanding of the tax payers. I believe the improvements in Sung Nam local tax bills will pursue the public interest of the community through public service design innovations.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the direction of competence of future designers required in the fourth industrial revolution. Designers have played an intermediary role in connecting technology and human beings. Therefore, in the fourth industrial revolution the capacity required to perform the intermediate role as a designer has also changed. The paradigm of design which changed step by step through the literature survey was studied. In addition, priorities were confirmed by comparing past and future designer competencies through prior research on designer competencies. As a result, we confirmed that the planning competence to solve complex problems and the competence of design management to realize them. Based on this research, we hope to be able to recognize the direction of competence as a designer in the fourth industrial revolution and to be a reference material for the follow - up study.

De Novo Drug Design Using Self-Attention Based Variational Autoencoder (Self-Attention 기반의 변분 오토인코더를 활용한 신약 디자인)

  • De novo drug design is the process of developing new drugs that can interact with biological targets such as protein receptors. Traditional process of de novo drug design consists of drug candidate discovery and drug development, but it requires a long time of more than 10 years to develop a new drug. Deep learning-based methods are being studied to shorten this period and efficiently find chemical compounds for new drug candidates. Many existing deep learning-based drug design models utilize recurrent neural networks to generate a chemical entity represented by SMILES strings, but due to the disadvantages of the recurrent networks, such as slow training speed and poor understanding of complex molecular formula rules, there is room for improvement. To overcome these shortcomings, we propose a deep learning model for SMILES string generation using variational autoencoders with self-attention mechanism. Our proposed model decreased the training time by 1/26 compared to the latest drug design model, as well as generated valid SMILES more effectively.

Efficient Method for Elmore Delay Error Correction for Placement (배치를 위한 효율적인 Elmore Delay 오차 보상 방법)

  • Delay estimation must be simple and efficient, since millions or more delay calculations may be required during a timing-driven placement stage. We have developed a new Modified Elmore delay estimation method, which is significantly more accurate than the original Elmore delay by considering resistance shielding effects, but has the same order of complexity with that of Elmore delay. Experimental results show that the suggested technique can significantly reduce the error in estimated delay, from 31.6 ~ 145.2% to 2.5 ~ 22.7%.

Study of Digital Analysis Efficiency through a Complexity Analysis (복잡성 분석을 통한 디지털 분석의 유효성에 관한 연구)

  • This study intends to prepare a system that can be used, by applying digital technique, in analyzing complexity of architectural forms that have been visualized by the correlation based on the distribution chart made in accordance with profile lines. The profile lines are derived from the edge analysis of the architectural forms, simplified based on the visual theory. For the purpose, this study was conducted in the following ways: First, problems of the existing models for the elevation analysis were examined along with formal analysis based on visual recognition to consider the profile lines derived from the forms. Secondly, in elevation analysis, profile lines were derived by digital method to measure them qualitatively. To verify the objectivity of the measured data value, a survey was conducted based on the adjective cataloging method, and the correlation of the survey result and analyzed data was analyzed to verify the validity of the derived data. Thirdly, supplementation for the problems deducted from experiments and the possibility to use it in designing were suggested. Digital method has many advantages over the conventional analyzing system in deriving precise data value by excluding subjectivity. It also allows various analytical methods in analyzing numerous data repeatedly. Diversified models and methods of analysis considering numerous factors arising in the process of designing remain assignments to research in future.

Flash Interface Design for Home Network (플래시 기반의 감성요소를 활용한 홈 네트워크 인터페이스 디자인 연구)

  • 플래시 기반의 wall pad에서 보여줄 수 있는 그래픽 인터페이스의 방향은 크게 세가지로 구분할 수 있다. 첫 번째, 디스플레이 내의 자유로운 공간 이동이다. Wall pad의 주요한 기능은 제품의 원격제어이며 디스플레이에서 각 제품의 위치와 상태를 표시해 주는 것이다. 그러나 한정된 디스플레이 내에서 이러한 동작은 쉽지 않다. 플래시 기반의 환경에서 자유로운 zoom in, out을 통해 제품에 대한 정보를 명확하게 전달 가능하게 된다. 두 번째, 사용자의 감성 만족도를 극대화하는 측면이다. 감성 만족도를 높이기 위하여 모바일 제품에서도 대기화면 등에 다양한 요소를 적용하고 있다. 다만 본 제품은 모바일 제품과는 달리 항상 거실의 고정된 위치에서 보여지게 된다는 환경적 제약을 가지고 있다. 따라서 이를 활용하여 그 자체로 하나의 거실 인테리어 소품이 되어 전체 거실의 분위기를 한층 돋보이게 하는 역할까지도 가능하다. 세 번째, 메뉴 전개 방식에 활용 가능하다. 기능이 다양해지고 복잡해질수록 메뉴를 찾아 들어가는 일은 어렵고 복잡해지기 쉽다. 이러한 문제는 시간과 공간의 개념을 활용한 메뉴 전개를 통해 플래시를 활용하여 좀 더 직관적이고 인공지능적인 메뉴 방식으로 접근이 가능해진다. 이와 같이 홈 네트워크 인터페이스에서 플래시를 활용하는 것은 큰 의미가 있으며 실제 제품에 최적화해 가는 과정에서 그 효과를 얼마나 유지할 수 있느냐에 대한 문제가 가장 중요한 이슈가 될 것이다.

  • As vehicles become intelligent for convenience and safety of drivers, in-vehicle networking (IVN) systems are essential components of intelligent vehicles. Recently, the chassis networking system which require increased network capacity and real-time capability is being developed to expand the application area of IVN systems. Also, FlexRay has been developed for the chassis networking system. However, FlexRay needs a complex scheduling method of static segment, which is a barrier for implementing the chassis networking system. Especially, if we want to migrate from CAN network to FlexRay network using CAN message database that was well constructed for the chassis networking system by automotive vendors, a novel scheduling method is necessary to be able to reduce design complexity. This paper presents a node-based scheduling method for FlexRay network system. And, in order to demonstrate the method's feasibility, its performance is evaluated through an experimental testbed.
