A Study on the Future Traffic Volume Estimation for Kwangyang Port Using The Consideration Factors of Marine Traffic Engineering (해상교통공학적 고려 요소를 이용한 광양항의 장래교통량 예측에 대한 연구)

  • To assess the port development and maritime traffic environment, the future traffic volume has been estimated using the number of inbound and outbound vessel for a specific port. The estimation of future traffic volume should be considered as an important factor to establish the degree of fairway congestion, the determination of fairway width and the operational role. Until now, the number of in and out vessel for the port has been only estimated mainly, but the type and size of inbound and outbound ships are different depending on the port's characteristics. So, it is difficult to estimate the future traffic volume using the change of only one item. This paper calculates the future traffic volume using the marine traffic characteristic factors as the number of coastal ship and ocean-going ship, the size of ship and the change of cargo volume per a ship etc. And it compared with the results of Artificial Neural Network(ANN) for accurate identification of nonlinear system.

  • This paper proposes two types of the preview algorithms to predict the velocities and joint positions, and deals with a control approach using the preview algorithms for the precise trajectory control. Specifically, a predictor as the form of discrete time state equations is proposed based on the robot dynamics model linearized by the computed toque method. And another state predictor is proposed by the best line fitting in the least square sense, where present joint velocities and positions and several past positions are employed. Then computer simulations are performed for the SCARA robot with two d.o.f to show the validities of the proposed algorithms.

Nonlinear Adaptive Prediction using Locally and Globally Recurrent Neural Networks (지역 및 광역 리커런트 신경망을 이용한 비선형 적응예측)

  • Dynamic neural networks have been applied to diverse fields requiring temporal signal processing such as signal prediction. This paper proposes the hybrid network, composed of locally(LRNN) and globally recurrent neural networks(GRNN), to improve dynamics of multilayered recurrent networks(RNN) and then describes nonlinear adaptive prediction using the proposed network as an adaptive filter. The hybrid network consists of IIR-MLP and Elman RNN as LRNN and GRNN, respectively. The proposed network is evaluated in nonlinear signal prediction and compared with Elman RNN and IIR-MLP networks for the relative comparison of prediction performance. Experimental results show that the hybrid network performs better with respect to convergence speed and accuracy, indicating that the proposed network can be a more effective prediction model than conventional multilayered recurrent networks in nonlinear prediction for nonstationary signals.

A Study on the Sequential Multiscale Homogenization Method to Predict the Thermal Conductivity of Polymer Nanocomposites with Kapitza Thermal Resistance (Kapitza 열저항이 존재하는 나노복합재의 열전도 특성 예측을 위한 순차적 멀티스케일 균질화 해석기법에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, a sequential multiscale homogenization method to characterize the effective thermal conductivity of nano particulate polymer nanocomposites is proposed through a molecular dynamics(MD) simulations and a finite element-based homogenization method. The thermal conductivity of the nanocomposites embedding different-sized nanoparticles at a fixed volume fraction of 5.8% are obtained from MD simulations. Due to the Kapitza thermal resistance, the thermal conductivity of the nanocomposites decreases as the size of the embedded nanoparticle decreases. In order to describe the nanoparticle size effect using the homogenization method with accuracy, the Kapitza interface in which the temperature discontinuity condition appears and the effective interphase zone formed by highly densified matrix polymer are modeled as independent phases that constitutes the nanocomposites microstructure, thus, the overall nanocomposites domain is modeled as a four-phase structure consists of the nanoparticle, Kapitza interface, effective interphase, and polymer matrix. The thermal conductivity of the effective interphase is inversely predicted from the thermal conductivity of the nanocomposites through the multiscale homogenization method, then, exponentially fitted to a function of the particle radius. Using the multiscale homogenization method, the thermal conductivities of the nanocomposites at various particle radii and volume fractions are obtained, and parametric studies are conducted to examine the effect of the effective interphase on the overall thermal conductivity of the nanocomposites.

  • Dynamic characteristics of a control valve, which plays an important role in thrust control of liquid rocket engines, have been analysed by AMESim simulator modeling. A speed control method has been proposed for the control of the valve equipped with a BLDC motor and the performances of this control method have been proved in making a comparison between the predictions of simulation and experimental results. Moreover, it is shown that a control valve with a second pre-filter is enough stable to the flow disturbances. The speed control method for BLDC motor is more simpler than PI gain scheduling method for the application in complex flow system.

  • This paper presents design of a bearingless main rotor of SNUF (Seoul National University Flap) blade equipped with active trailing-edge flap to reduce the hub vibratory loads during helicopter forward flight. For that purpose, sectional design of the flexbeam is carried out using the thin-walled composite material rotating beam vibration analysis program (CORBA77_MEMB) in EDISON. Using the multi-body dynamics analysis program, DYMORE, blade dynamic characteristics and those of the loads control are examined using the active trailing-edge flap in terms of the flexbeam sectional design.

Fast Multiple Reference Frame Selection Method for Motion Estimation and Compensation in Video Coding (동영상 부호화의 움직임 추정 및 보상을 위한 고속 다중 참조 프레임 선택 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a fast multiple reference frame selection method for motion estimation and compensation in video coding. Reference frames selected as an optimal reference frame by variable block sizes motion estimation have the statistical characteristic that was based on block size. Using the statistical characteristic, reference frames for smaller block size motion estimation can be selected from reference frame which was decided as an optimal one for the upper layer block size. Simulation results show that the proposal method decreased the computations about 60%. Nevertheless, PSNR and bit rate were almost same as the performances of original H.264 multiple reference motion estimation.

  • A fully nonlinear model accounting for swirling effect has been applied in analyzing the dynamic response for a classical swirl injector. The current work applied highly accurate Boundary Element Methods (BEMs) in assessing its static and dynamic characteristics. On the basis of moving surface treatment method and surface instability study, which are obtained from the previous static characteristics analysis in pressure-swirl injectors, this work was expanded for analyzing the dynamics of a classical swirl injector. The dynamic response through injector components for disturbed inflow condition was investigated. The modified code was validated from comparison with the theoretical result for a typical swirl injector. Clearly the simulated result shows the interesting characteristics of swirl injectors to provide either amplification or damping of the input disturbance through each component. These results give promise in applying the current model to nonlinear dynamic characteristics of swirl injectors.

  • A rotordynamic analysis is performed for a high thrust class liquid rocket engine turbopump considering the dynamic characteristics of ball bearings and pump noncontact seals. Complex eigenvalue problems are solved to predict the rotating natural frequencies and damping ratios as a function of rotating speeds. Synchronous rotor mass unbalance response and time transient response analyses are also performed to figure out the rotor critical speed and the onset speed of instability. From the numerical analysis, it is found that the rear bearing stiffness is most important parameter for the critical speed and instability because the 1st mode is turbine side shaft bending mode. The pump seal effect on the critical speed is enlarged as the rear bearing stiffness decreases and the front bearing stiffness increases.

  • 모바일 영상 기기들에 사용되는 저전력, 고화질의 이미지 센서는 Rolling Shutter 방식을 사용하는 CIS(CMOS Image Sensor)이다. 구조적 특성에 의해 Rolling Shutter 방식을 사용하는 CIS는 촬영 환경에 의해 결과물에 왜곡을 일으키게 된다. 본 논문은 Rolling Shutter에 의한 왜곡을 분석하고 촬영된 영상의 Rolling Shutter 왜곡 모션벡터를 예측하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 또한 제안 알고리즘의 정확성을 높이기 위해 Sub-block과 Kalman-filter를 적용하여 Sub-pixel 단위로 계산하여 기존의 Lucas-Kanade 알고리즘 보다 효율적인 모션벡터 예측 알고리즘을 제안한다. 또한 보다 정확한 성능 변화를 추적하기 위하여 MSE 방식을 사용하여 비교 분석 하였다.
