  • In this paper, a 0.5~4 GHz frequency synthesizer having good phase noise performance is proposed. Wideband output frequencies of the synthesizer were synthesized using DDS(Direct Digital Synthesizer) and analog direct frequency synthesis technology in order to obtain fast settling time. Also in order to get good phase noise performance, 2.4 GHz DDS clock was generated by VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) which was locked by the 100 MHz reference oscillator using SPD(Sample Phase Detector). The phase noise performance of wideband frequency synthesizer was estimated and the results were compared with the measured ones. The measured phase noise of the frequency synthesizer was less then -121 dBc @ 100 kHz at 4 GHz.

  • It is well known that finite element analysis often has the inaccuracy when they are in conflict with test results. Model updating is concerned with the correction of analytical model by processing records of response from test results. This paper introduce a model updating technique using the frequency response function data. The measurement data is able to be used directly in the FRF sensitivity method because it is not necessary to identify. When a damping model is updated, it is necessary for the sensitivity matrix to be divided Into the complex part and real part. As an applying model, a cantilever and a rotor system are used. Specially the machined clearance($C_p$) of the journal bearing is updated.

  • The dynamic analyses of FM discriminators-Slope, Travis, Foster-Seely, and Ratio types-are presented by the method of Fourier Transform. The relationships between the distortion of the output waveform from the discriminator and its input FM wave and circuit constants are clearly shown in this study. According to the results, the Travis, Foster-Seely, and the ratio discriminators contain only odd harmonics, but the slope discriminator contains both even and odd harmonics. The permissible handwidth of travis discriminator for the 2% distortion is about twice those of Foster-Seely and ratio discriminatosr and sixteen times that of slope discriminator.

  • Reactor power frequency spectrum measurements at various power levela-OW, 1KW, 50KW, 100KW were made with TRIGA-MARK-II. An ion chamber was exposed to reactor flux, and the fluctions in its output current were analyed in a tunable bandpass filter to get the frequency spectrum of these fluctuation. The measured frequency spectrum of pile determined the modules of modules of zero power transfer function and indicated a prompt neutron mean life time of (7.90$\pm$1.62)X10 sec based on effective delayed neutron faction of 0.0075. The absolute value of reactor power obtained by noise analysis agreed within 5% with the power meter indication at the power below 10Kw.

  • In this paper, we proposed to model identification in frequency domain using relay feedback and Design of internal model controller(IMC) with Cascade controller. The parameters of controller in the inner loop are determined to minimize the integral of time multiplied by the absolute value of error (ITAE) value of performance Index. The controller of outer loop and parameters of IMC-PID controller can be obtain using identified model. The model identification is considered that it is the transient response and the steady-state response through the use of nyquist curve. Simulation examples are given to show the better performance of the proposed method than conventional methods.

  • This paper presents the optimal motion control for 3-axis SCARA robot by using $LabVIEW^{(R)}$. Specifically, for optimal motion control of 3-axis SCARA robot, we study velocity profile based on finite jerk(the first derivative of acceleration) and optimal gain tunig based on frequency response method by using $LabVIEW^{(R)}$. The velocity optimization with finite jerk aims at generating the smooth velocity profile of robot. Velocity profile based on finite jerk is acquired and applied to 3-axis SCARA robot by using $LabVIEW^{(R)}$. DSA(Dynamic Signal Analyzer) for frequency response method is programed by using $LabVIEW^{(R)}$. We obtain the bode plot of transfer function about 3-axis SCARA robot by using DSA, and perform the gain tuning considering dynamic characteristic based on the bode plot. These experiments have shown that the proposed motion control can reduce vibration displacement and response error rate each 33.7% and 51.7% of 3-axis SCARA robot.

  • Shaking table test was carried out to obtain dynamic characteristics of TLCDs with uniform and non-uniform sections for both horizontal and vertical tubes. The input to the table is harmonic acceleration with constant magnitude. The output is horizontal dynamic force which is measured by load cell installed below the TLCD. Transfer functions are experimentally obtained using the ratio of input and output. Natural frequency, the most important design factor, is compared to that by theoretical equation for TLCDs with five different water levels. System identification process is performed for experimentally obtained transfer functions to find the dynamic characteristics of head loss coefficient and effective mass of TLCDs. It is found that their magnitudes are larger for a TLCD with non-uniform section than with uniform section and natural frequencies are close to theoretical ones.

  • In this paper, Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method is used to analyze characteristics of the electromagnetically coupled broadband microstrip antenna, and to optimize the antenna parameters. By using short tuning stub in feedline, electromagnetically coupled microstrip antenna shows broadband (approximatcly equal 13%) characteristics, and the characteristics are varied as a function of length, width, and position of the tuning stub. Operating frequency, return loss, VSWR and input impedance are calculated by Fourier transforming the time domain results. Measurement data from fabricated electromagnetically coupled microstrip antenna are compared with FDTD results and are shown to be in good agreement. After optimization of the parameters, maximum bandwidth of about 15% is achieved.

  • In this paper, a voltage controlled oscillator(VCO) of core components for wireless subscriber network is designed. The type of oscillator is colpits method and the oscillator device uses a LC resonator. The product is made on FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant of 4.6. The designed VCO is operated at 3.2V, 10mA and has output value of 0.67dB. The VCO's phase noise property is -102DBc/Hz at offset frequence of 100kHz. The fabricated VCO is the same as target value and can be used for wireless subscriber network.

  • In this paper, keeping pace with light weight, pocket-size, lower-price, we design VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) X/Ku band for using at public RD(Radar Detector) to apply to controlled voltage on base in transistor which used as a oscillator, without using varactor diode in part of VCO tuner. As a result of simulation, we conclude VCO could be have 110 MHz by controlled voltage 4.25 V to 4.80 V and show its output 9.63 dBm at operating frequency, 11.46 GHz, and its phase noise -107.2 dBc at 1 MHz offset frequency. So it turned out suitable performance for commercial use.
