Estimation of Dynamic Interface Friction Properties of Geosynthetics (토목섬유의 동적 경계면 마찰특성 평가)

  • In this study, shaking table tests were conducted to estimate dynamic interface properties between geosynthetics such as geomembrane, geotextile and geosynthetic clay liner. Accelerations of both shaking table and upper box, and relative displacements between geosynthetics under dynamic loading were measured. Also, the influence of normal stress, frequency of excitation and dry/wet conditions were investigated through the analyses of test results. from the test results, it was found that there is a limited acceleration below which dynamic farce can be transmitted between geosynthetics without the loss of horizontal acceleration. Dynamic interface friction angle between geosynthetics could be calculated through the limited acceleration. Relative displacements induced along geosynthetic interfaces under dynamic loading were not consistent depending on the type of interface and test conditions. The maximum slip displacements between geosynthetics are normalized and normalized slip equations were developed for each interface. By using the normalized slip equation, maximum slip displacements for the geosynthetic interface could be predicted for the given base acceleration and frequency of excitation.

Design Methods of the Longitudinal Motion-Limiting Devices in Multi-Span Continuous Bridges (다경간연속교의 교축방향 이동제한장치의 설계방법)

  • The motion-limiting devices can be used for reducing the maximum and residual displacements of the multi-span continuous bridges with inelastic elements such as isolation bearings and plastic hinges formed in piers. For the design of motion-limiting device, the nonlinear time history analysis is required. But the time history analysis is time consuming and very complex. This study suggests the simple design procedure of the motion-limiting devices using the equivalent elastic analysis method and the acceleration-displacement spectrum concept. The suggested design procedure can be used very effectively for determining the location and gap size of the motion-limiting devices.

기계 진동을 받는 구조물의 동적 해석 모델링 기법

  • 본 기사에서는 진동을 유발하는 기계장치의 지지 형태에 따른 해석 모델링 기법을 소개하는데 중점을 두었다. 다양한 해석 모델등 중 어느 것을 사용할 것인가는 주어진 조건이나 정보, 요구되는 정확도, 효율성 등을 고려하여 설계 엔지니어가 판단하여야 한다. 또한 진동 하중을 받는 구조물에 대한 설계 및 해석을 하기 위해서는 기계장치에 대한 사양 및 요구사항, 지반의 물리적 성질, 외부 환경적 요인 등을 파악하여야 한다. 종합적인 판단하에 구조물을 모델링하여 얻어진 결과들을 가지고 실제 설계 요구 조건과 비교, 검토를 하여야 하며, 이러한 설계 조건들은 다음과 같은 사항들을 포함한다. 1) 지반이나 구조물의 파괴, 과도한 처짐 등에 대한 정적 강도를 검토한다. 2) 진동 응답에 대한 최대 변위, 최대 속도, 최대 가속도를 검토한다. 3) 최대 확대계수, 최대 동적하중 계수, 공명조건, 최대 전달계수 등을 포함한 동적 거동을 검토한다. 4) 실제 구조물에서 일어날 수 있는 모든 모드들에 대한 검토를 한다. 5) 기계, 구조물, 연결부 등에 대한 파괴 가능성을 고려한다. 6) 사람이나 기계장치의 작동 등에 대한 환경적 요구조건의 만족 여부를 검토한다.

Dynamic Fracture Behaviors of Concrete Three-Point Bend Specimens (콘크리트 삼점휨 시험편의 동적 파괴거동)

  • The dynamic loads and load-point displacements of concrete three-point bend (TPB) specimens had been measured. The average crack velocities measured with strain gages were 0.16 ㎜/sec ∼ 66 m/sec. The fracture energy for crack extension was determined from the difference of the kinetic energy for the load-point velocity and the strain energy without permanent deformation from the measure external work. For all crack velocities, there were micro-cracking for 23 ㎜ crack extension, stable cracking for 61 ㎜ crack extension at the maximum strain energy, and then unstable cracking. The unstable crack extension was arrested at 80 ㎜ crack extension except the tests of 66 m/sec crack velocity. The tests less than 13 ㎜/sec crack velocity and faster than 1.9 m/sec showed static and dynamic fracture behaviors, respectively. In spite of much difference of the load and load-point displacement relations for the crack velocities, the crack velocities of dynamic tests did not affect on fracture energy rate during the stable crack extension due to the reciprocal action of kinetic force, crack extension and strain energy. During stable crack extension, the maximum fracture resistances of the dynamic tests was 147% larger than that of the static tests.

Seismic Analysis of Absorber Rod in KMRR Reactivity Control Mechanism (다목적연구로 반응도 제어장치의 제어봉에 대한 내진해석)

  • This study is on a seismic analysis of absorber rod in KMRR Reactivity Control Mechanism. The model being studied is two coaxial tubes(control absorber rod and flow tube) immersed in the water and partially coupled(overlap) by water gap. The hydrodynamic mass effects by the water in each surrounding conditions are considered in the model. The natural frequencies, stresses and displacements of the system due to Safe Shutdown Earthquake are computed in the cases of in-phase modes and out-of-phase modes of two coaxial tubes. The results show that maximum stresses are well below the allowable limit but the maximum displacements at the ends of both tubes are so much that the absorber rod contacts with the flow tube(or surrounding wall).

  • 본 연구의 목적은 젊은 성인과 노인의 장애물 보행 시 신체질량중심의 변위와 최대속도를 3차원적으로 비교 분석하여 노인의 낙상위험 및 균형능력을 평가할 수 있는 중요한 요소가 될 수 있는지를 검증하는데 있다. 본 연구의 대상은 건강한 젊은 성인 10명(남성 6명/여성 4명, $24.6{\pm}1.9$세)과 65세 이상 건강한 노인 10명(남성 1명/여성 9명)으로 선정하였다. 각 피험자 신장의 10% 높이의 장애물 보행을 실시하였으며 동작 분석 장비를 통해 신체질량중심의 변위와 최대속도를 3차원적으로 분석하였다. 전후방향에서는 젊은 성인 집단의 변위가 더 크고(p=.019) 최대속도가 더 빠르게 나타났으며(p<.001), 좌우방향에서는 노인 집단의 변위가 더 크고(p=.004), 더 빠르게 나타났다(p<.001). 수직방향에서의 변위는 유의한 차이가 없었고(p=.135), 최대 속도는 젊은 성인 집단이 더 빠르게 나타났다(p<.001). 신체질량중심의 좌우방향에서의 크고 빠른 움직임은 노인의 동적 균형능력 저하로 인해 넘어가는 발(swing limb)의 안정적인 지지면 딛기를 위한 보상적 조절로 여겨지며, 따라서 노인의 낙상위험 및 균형능력을 평가할 수 있는 중요한 요소가 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

A Study on Seismic Response of Pile Foundations for Aseismic Design (말뚝기호의 내진해석에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, response of pile foundations under seismic loading is studied for use in aseismic design of deep foundations. Both the pseudostatic methods such as subgrade reaction theory by Reese, and elastic analysis by Poulos, and the dynamic methods proposed by, respectively, Prakash and Gazetas, are used for this study. The top displacements and maximum bending moments of example piles are obtained by each method mentioned above, and the results by each method are compared among others. The group pile effects are also considered approximately. The calculated results are compared with experimental results obtained by Novak in 1984. The pseudostatic methods, combined with dynamic group interaction factors, and the dynamic method proposed by Gazetas which considers both kinematic interaction and inertial interaction, separately, estimate the top displacements reasonably well : the method by Prakah or the pseudostatic methods combined with static group interaction factors may overestimate the top displacements and bending moments as well. Therefore, it is recommended to the the simple elastic analysis combined with dynamic group interaction factors for aseismic design of pile foundatins and to confirm the results by the Gaz etas' dynamic methods.

Ice impact on arctic gravity caisson (극지용 중력식 해양구조물의 유빙충격 해석)

  • 극 지역용 중력식 해양구조물의 설계시 고려되어야 할 문제중의 하나가 구조물의 유빙(ice)과 충돌시 야기되는 foundation붕괴 현상인데, 본 논문에서는 정적 해석을 위해 sliding 및 bearing failure 현상에 대하여만 연구하였고, 또한 동적 해석을 위하여 soil과ice의 특성으로부터 structure-ice-soil의 상호 작용 운동 방정식을 설정하여 구조물과 ice의변위, 속도, 가속도와 ice force와 soil force의 history를 시간영역 해법으로 풀었다. 한 예제로 Beaufort Sea의 37 feet수심과 granular soil 상태에서 구조물의 최대변위는 0.4 feet이고 가속도는 약 0.3kg이며 이때 구조물이 sliding에 대하여 안전하다는 것이 입증되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 유한요소모델을 사용하여 원자력 발전용 해수 여과장치에 대한 동적 내진해석을 수행하였다. 장치의 검증을 위해서 운전기준지진(Operating Basis Earthquake, OBE)과 안전정지지진(Safe Shutdown Earthquake, SSE)이 설계하중으로 작용하였을 때 부재에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 해석대상은 유한요소법을 사용하여 수학적 모델링을 완성하였고, 층응답스펙트럼(Floor Response Spectrum, FRS)에 따른 지진하중과 사하중등을 적용하여 해석을 수행하였다. 해석된 해수여과장치의 최대변위는 OBE 조건에서 2.5 mm 이고, SSE 조건에서 최대변위는 4.6 mm 이다. 최대응력은 OBE 조건에서 24 MPa, SSE 조건에서 44 MPa이며, 이 값은 재료의 항복강도의 각각 18%, 27% 수준이다. 이에 따라 지진하중조건에 따른 해수여과장치의 구조적 안전성이 제시되었다.

Capacity Spectrum Method Based on Inelastic Displacement Ratio (비탄성변위비를 이용한 능력 스펙트럼법)

  • In this study, improved capacity spectrum method (CSM) is proposed. The method can account for higher mode contribution to the seismic response of MDOF systems. The CSM has been conveniently used for determining maximum roof displacement using both demand spectrum and capacity curve of equivalent SDOF system. Unlike the conventional CSM, the maximum roof displacement is determined without iteration using inelastic displacement ratio and R factor calculated from demand spectrum and capacity curve. Three moment resisting steel frames of 3-, 9- and 20-stories are considered to test the accuracy of the proposed method. Nonlinear response history analysis (NL-RHA) for three frames is also conducted, which is considered as an exact solution. SAC LA 10/50 and 2/50 sets of ground motions are used. Moreover, this study estimates maximum story drift ratios (IDR) using ATC-40 CSM and N2-method and compared with those from the proposed method and NL-RHA. It shows that the proposed CSM estimates the maximum IDR accurately better than the previous methods.
