  • In this study, a small-scaled test system for a tip jet rotor was developed to contribute to the research on unmanned compound rotorcraft. The performance and dynamic characteristics of the tip jet rotor were investigated using the test system. The diameter of the tip jet rotor was set to 2m in consideration of the size of the test site and the pneumatic supply capacity of the. The rotating speed of the rotor was controlled by the pressure of the compressed air. The thrust and forces during the rotor rotation were measured using a load measuring device. A hydraulic actuator was installed for the dynamic test and full-bridge strain gages were attached to the root of each blade to measure the flap, lag, and torsion-wise responses generated when the rotor is excited by the actuator. The performance and dynamic characteristic tests were conducted at various rotor speeds and blade pitches. In order to check the validity of the test results, the results were also compared with the CAMRAD II analysis.

  • In the case of elevated railway station in which railway is connected with superstructure of station, vibration and noise level is relatively higher than those of general structure type station due to structural characteristic which transmits vibration directly. Therefore, characteristic understanding of structural vibration and accompanying structure cause noise and establishment of reduction plan through the results are in need. Test and analysis are performed in this research to consider correlativity between structural vibration and accompanying structure cause noise when external forces are applied on standard slab and floating slab which is able to isolate vibration. By producing and loading on standard and floating slab, vibration and noise response are measured while simulation using numerical analysis, finite element method and SEA method is performed. The results about structural dynamic behavior of slab, correlativity between structural vibration and noise, reduction performance of floating slab is deduced through the analysis of tests.

  • The design and the construction were carried out by installing new caissons on the back or the front of existing caissons to increase the structural stability of caisson breakwaters. In this study, we used the ANSYS AQWA program to analyze the wave forces acting on individual caissons according to the effects of wave-structure interaction when new caissons were additionally installed on existing caisson breakwaters. The wave force characteristics acting on the individual caisson were analyzed according to the distance among caissons in frequency domain analysis. In addition, the dynamic wave force characteristics were closely examined on the basis of the frequency at which the unusual distribution of wave forces occurs in irregular wave conditions using time domain analysis.

  • Increasing flexibility and lightness of recently built high-rise buildings make the structures susceptible to loads such as earthquakes and winds. Therefore, higher performance vibration control systems to reduce the vibration levels are demanded more than any time in the past. One of the typical active vibration control systems is the active mass driver (AMD). In this paper, an active vibration control system consisting of small shaking table, building model, sensors, signal processing board and AMD is constructed. The dynamic characteristics of these individual systems are investigated through the experimental study. The performance of the active vibration control system is verified through the El Centro earthquake(1940,NS) on the building model.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the characteristics of installation dimensions of speed control humps based on the theoretical dynamic analyses. The field surveys of speed control humps were performed first to compare their sizes with those suggested in the installation standard. Then, the displacement response spectra under impact loads were obtained using the single degree of freedom models where the vehicle and human were assumed to combine completely. The analysis results showed that the human perception became larger as the width and height of the humps increased, but the extremely higher uncomfortableness should be avoided. In addition, the ratio between the width and height should be considered when the humps are designed and installed because the ratio governs the vertical acceleration magnitude.

  • We analyzed the 3-D characteristics of the dynamic response of seabed around a submerged breakwater due to wave loading using a 3-D numerical scheme (LES-WASS-3D). Using our model, which considers the wave-structure-sandy seabed interactions in a 3-D wave field, we were able to investigate the 3-D characteristics of the pore-water pressure in the seabed around the submerged breakwater under various incident wave conditions. To verify the 3-D numerical analysis method suggested in this study, we compared the numerical results with the existing experimental results and found good agreement between them. The numerical analysis reveals that high pore-water pressure in the seabed is generated below a large wave height at the front slope of the submerged breakwater. It was also shown that the non-dimensional pore-water pressure in the seabed increases as the wave period increases because the wave energy dissipation decreases on the submerged breakwater and seabed as the wave period increases.

  • Synchrotron light source building of the accelerator has stringent vibration limits since the performance of the optical devices and electronic equipments in the laboratory is strongly influenced by the vibrations of the building. In this study, vibrations of the synchrotron light source building are estimated using experimental modal analysis and force response simulation technique. Dynamic properties of the building are identified from the modal parameters and vibration responses are predicted from the force response simulation. A double anti vibration system is designed and applied to the HVAC equipments and it has been shown that the measured vibrations of the building with the double anti vibration system satisfy the vibration criteria.

  • Experimental studies using tuned liquid damper(TLD) and multiple tuned liquid damper(MTLD), which are passive control devices consisting of a rigid tank filed with liquid, are used to suppress vibration of structures. This TLD and MTLD are attributable to several potential advantage -low costs, easy; easy to install in existing structures: effective even for small amplitude vibrations. For this, we conducted shaking table experiments for two natural frequencies (0.44Hz, 0.55Hz) according to the excitation amplitude(1mm, 3mm, 5mm, 10mm, 20mm) So, the majority of studies suggested optimized natural frequence and excitation amplitude for control devices.(TLD and MTLD type : circle, rectangular) As the analysis result, we verified vibration reduction effects of a MTLD by analyzing the performance experiment of TLD and MTLD
