Optimal Laser Line Detection of Structured Light using Dynamic Programming (동적계획법을 사용한 구조화 조명의 최적 레이저 라인 검출)

  • The structured lighting technique is a very accurate depth measurement method. One problem in this technique is that the laser light is invisible very often partly or as a whole caused from occlusion, light absorbtion, and reflection on the surface. If there is no laser light detected on a row of the image frame, the depth could not be computed at the point on the row. In this paper, a Dynamic Programing-based efficient laser line tracking algorithm is proposed to find the most likely line of the laser light utilizing all the possible information of the laser light trace. The performance of the algorithm is shown.

  • There are two kinds of method in ship maintenance. One is the corrective maintenance and the other is the preventive maintenance. For these maintenances recently the stochastic techniques are widely used to keep the maximum availibility and the optimal maintenance period minimizing a given cost function. Thus this paper suggest a method to decide the optimal policy of ship's maintenances by using dynamic programming and the effectiveness of the method is verified through several examples in which failure rates and maintenance data of ship's machineries and parts are given.

  • Since the oil crisis, we have been concerned about the energy saving techniques of electric generating systems. As a part of the effort to save energy, automatic electric load sharing device was developed. Usually, ship's electric generating system consists of two or three sets of generator. And, electric generating system is operated as single or parallel operation mode according to the demanded electric power. Therefore, it is important to investigate generators operating mode for the supply of required electric power in the ship in order to decrease the operating cost. So, this paper suggests the method to solve the optimal electric load distribution problem by dynamic programming. And, this thesis indicates that the proposed method is superior to the lagrange multiplier's method in obtaining optimal load distribution solution in the ship's electric generating system.

  • 이수기와 같이 장기적인 관점에서 저수지운영을 해야 하는 관리자는 해당 기간동안의 이익을 최대화하는 전략을 필요로 한다. 이를 위해서는 미래 유입량의 불확실성을 고려한 최적화 모형에 근거한 운영률을 수립해야 할 것이다. 본 연구에서는 금강수계의 이수기를 대상으로 추계학적 최적화 기법인 표본 추계학적 동적계획법(Sampling Stochastic Dynamic Programming)을 적용하여 최적 연계운영 시스템을 개발하였다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 모형은 상용프로그램인 CSUDP와의 비교를 통해 검증되었으며 이를 기반으로 과거자료를 이용한 SSDP/Hist모형과 앙상블 유량예측(Ensemble Streamflow Prediction)을 이용한 SSDP/ESP모형을 개발하여 두 모형의 장${\cdot}$단점을 비교 분석하였다. 발전부분은 두 모형이 비슷하였으나 용수공급 측면에서는 SSDP/ESP가 SSDP/Hist 보다 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

  • 지상파 방송에서는 청각장애인을 위해 폐쇄자막(closed caption) 서비스가 제공되고 있지만, 이를 저장하여 VOD 서비스 등에 제공하고자 할 때는 영상과의 비동기화(desynchronization) 문제로 인해 활용할 수 없는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이를 해결하기 위해 자동 음성인식(automatic speech recognition)과, 자막 동기화 문제에 맞게 변경된 동적계획법(modified dynamic programming)을 이용하는 방법을 제안한다. 문자열 정렬에서 삽입과 삭제 등 간격(gap)의 발생을 제어하는 제약조건과 그에 따른 점수 구조를 적용함으로써 문자열 정렬 성능을 개선한다. 또한 정렬된 폐쇄자막과 음성인식 문자열로부터 시간 동기정보를 복원하고 동기화된 자막을 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 실제 TV 프로그램과 자막에 적용하여 기존 방법에 비해 성능의 향상이 있음을 확인하였다.

A Study on Objective Functions for the Multi-purpose Dam Operation Plan in Korea (국내 다목적댐 운영계획에 적합한 목적함수에 관한 연구)

  • Optimization is a process that searches an optimal solution to obtain maximum or minimum value of an objective function. Many researchers have focused on effective search algorithms for the optimum but few researches were interested in establishing the objective function. This study compares two approaches for the objective function: one allows a tradeoff among the objectives and the other does not allow a tradeoff by assigning weights for the absolute priority between the objectives. An optimization model using sampling stochastic dynamic programming was applied to these two objective functions and the resulting optimal policies were compared. As a result, the objective function with no tradeoff provides a decision making process that matches practical reservoir operations than that with a tradeoff allowed. Therefore, it is more reasonable to establish the objective function with no a tradeoff among the objectives for multi-purpose dam operation plan in Korea.

A study on Applying Dynamic Programming to Selection of Thinning Pathway for Pinus Koraiesis Stand (잣나무 임분의 간벌 pathway 선정을 위한 동적계획법 적용에 관한 연구)

  • Using dynamic programming, which is one of operations research techniques, the best pathway was chosen to maximize the total harvest volume for a Korean white pine (Pinus koraiensis) stand. This study was carried out in an age class III at Chuncheon National Forest, Gangwon province. That stand was assumed to apply 3 different thinning intensities of none, 30% and 50% thinnings. These thinning pathways are planned to implement two times, of thinning at 35 age and 55 age. The final cutting (rotation age) is assumed to carry out in 70 years. A growth function for Korean white pine stand was developed with forest inventory data, the volume was calculated with this growth function. As a result, the best thinning pathway for this Korean white pine stand using dynamic programming is to implement 30% at the first thinning and 50%at the second thinning.

  • The complexity and expensiveness of water resources projects have made optimum operation and design by computer-based techniques of increasing interest in recent years. Water resources problems in real world need many decisions under numerous constraints. In addition there are nonlinearities in the state and return function. This mathematical and technical troublesome must be overcome so that the optimum operation polices are determined. Then traditional dynamic optimization method encountered two major-cruxes: variable discretization and appearance of constraints. Even several recent methods which based on the Differential Dynamic Programming(DDP) have some difficulties in handling of constraints. This paper has presented New DDP which is applicable to multi-reservoir control. It is intended that the method suggested here is superior to abailable alternatives. This belief is supported by analysis and experiments(New DDT does not suffer course of dimensionality and requires no discretization and is able to handle easily all constraints nonlinearity).

Optimal Conjunctive Use of Surface and Ground Water (지표수와 지하수의 최적 연계운영)

  • Water supply plan by optimal conjunctive use of surface and ground water is studied to prepare expected water deficit in near future. The optimization model for conjunctive use of surface and ground water is developed using discrete differential dynamic programming technique to maximize net benefit by water supply. As a result of applying the model to Namdaechun river located in Yangyang, it is found that water supply reliability using optimal conjunctive use of surface and ground water is much higher than reliability using surface water alone.

  • 본 연구에서는 낙동강수계 일별 운영 계획 수립을 위한 저수지군 최적 연계운영 모형(CoMOM, Coordinated Multiple Reservoir Operating Model)을 개발하였다. 이를 위하여 동적 네트워크 흐름 모형을 기반으로 한 다중목적 혼합 정수 목표계획 모형 (MOMIGP, Multiple Objective Mixed Integer Goal-Programming)을 수립하였다. 이 모형은 월말 목표 수위 및 운영 제약 등을 목표 계획법으로 구성하였으며, 일별 운영의 특성을 고려하여 하도추적의 효과를 반영하였고, 선형화된 발전함수를 이용하여 발전량을 최대화 하도록 한 후 정확한 발전량을 사후에 산정하였다. 이와 같이 수립된 수학 모형을 GUI를 비롯한 프로그램(CoMOM)으로 개발하여 사용자가 편리하게 수행 할 수 있도록 하였다. 이 프로그램은 의사결정자의 운영 목표와 의도를 효과적으로 반영할 수 있도록 대화형 목표 계획법을 구현하였으며, 상충되는 여러 목적에 대하여 가능한 파래토(Pareto) 최적해를 제시하고 의사결정자가 가장 선호하는 해를 선택하도록 대화형 다중목적 계획법 CBITP(Convex hull of individual maxima Based Interactive Tchebycheff Procedure)를 활용하여 구현하였다. 한편 객체지항적 프로그램 기법을 활용하여 수계 내의 노드(저수지, 수요지, 발전소 등)를 추가 하거나 삭제 할 수 있도록 하여, 다른 수계로의 확장이 용이하도록 개발하였다.
